Walk-ins ONLY… I was really excited to try this place and booked an appointment online. I showed up at my scheduled time to a locked door. I decided to try again, but figured it would be better to make my appointment in person. When I tried, Arthur was not there, but there was a sign with his number to text. I texted him and got an apology for his missing the previous appointment (he was hurt and couldn’t find my phone number) then asked to book the next day. We confirmed and because I knew he was hurt I specifically asked that he let me know if he couldn’t make it. Today, I showed up at the agreed upon time and again, the door was locked. I texted Arthur to politely say I would be taking my business elsewhere. In response, I got a photo of his injury. Of course I have no issue with someone calling out sick, but communicate with your customers! This is no way to run a business. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to have the same experience as others.

I went to a barbershop before I went here and they were rude and denied me service for how I identity, so I went here hoping that I would not be denied service. The moment I opened the door that had a seat ready for me and gave me a wonderful haircut. I definitely trust this place to cut my hair. I have gotten many compliments on my haircut.

Arthur is a class act and a top notch barber. He is kind and talented. The barbershop itself is a marvel. Clean, full of history, and nostalgia. I left with an unbelievably sharp and crisp haircut. He was able to give me the exact haircut I requested. I’ve recommended Arthur to every friend I have, and will continue to. 10/10.

This is a fun, quirky small eclectic museum that makes for a fun and unique hour to a few hours on a rainy day if you’re into oddities/antiques or just want to do something different on a rainy day. It’s fun and interesting to peruse if you have an interest in—obviously—Barber Shop history or just can enjoy a niche collective or something outside of the box to do. Fun for a date or with a couple friends. Nice staff. Cool history and items on display and not expensive admission.

Amazing! We highly recommend seeing Arthur. A 4th generation barber - very skilled and a beautiful shop. He told us all about the history of the barber shop while we were there which was so interesting. A great bonus!

Arthur is a fantastic barber. I recently moved to NYC and my old barber recommended him. Not only did he give me a perfect haircut, it was very clear that he genuinely cares about cutting your hair exactly the way you want it. He is skillful and very kind. I will make sure to recommend him to everyone I know.

Great new spot in UES. Arthur is a true professional. I got a skin fade and beard trim which was on point and the shop itself is awesome with all of the antique barber items.

I got a very good haircut here. Skilled barber that takes walk ins. The history behind the equipment used was also fascinating.

Arthur is a master. He looked at my hair and gave me an optimal haircut better than I have had at Madison Avenue salons for 3-4 times the price. I have a very difficult uneven hairline at back and he gave it a natural look. If you want a truly skilled professional that can give you a modern, great looking cut, this is your place.

Had a great time meeting Arthur he let me see both the museum and barbershop, being to see all the barber tools and getting to know more knowledge about the barber history was very cool.I highly recommend checking it out!!

Fantastic experience overall! Arthur is an expert who made me feel like I was in the best of hands. His experience shows, he found issues that my former stylist made worse or ignored completely. I’ve never looked better! Highly recommend this business, Arthur is a top notch professional, thru and thru! I will be back for my next haircut for sure!

My wife and I recently visited this quirky, diminutive museum for a brief but informative tour. Our guide was Arthur, the founder of the museum, who also happens to be a 4th generation master barber and the CEO of REAMIR & Co (a brand that includes multiple barbershops and a line of men's grooming products). Arthur was gracious and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed enjoyed the experience.

FANTASTIC hair cut and beard trim. Couldn’t recommend it more. Go here for a guaranteed great cut and great service.

It’s hard finding a good barber in this city, especially for beard trims, etc. After going through a few barbershops, I think I found one that I can consistently go back to. Arthur the owner has the passion and artistry, knows what you need. Definitely recommend to those who just moved to the city and to those looking for a shop.

This was one of the best haircuts I've had in years. My sister and I were walking down the street and happened upon the NYC Barber Shop Museum. I decided to get a haircut on a whim and absolutely loved it. Art was hilarious, followed all COVID-19 protocols, and was genuinely a joy to be around. On top of that, I got a fresh cut that has received compliments from numerous friends. I highly recommend this place as an affordable yet high quality, old school barbershop! And since it's a museum, you also get to see some truly fascinating artifacts and walk away with new knowledge.

Literally the best barber in Manhattan. I’ve been to about 40 places around but this is the most professional haircut. Great knowledge, great service, amazing experience.

Brought my 4 year old son here for his first professional haircut. Arthur was so gracious with my son and I was surprised how meticulous and thorough he was cutting his hair. My son had a "good" time (his words) and his hair looks so good, just in time as he starts summer school! My husband comes here too and I'm not exaggerating literally got over 30 compliments last time he cut his hair. I HIGHLY recommend coming here.

Such a great experience! Outside of it just being an awesome shop, Art was wonderful with my son. Very warm and professional and did an awesome job in under 20 minutes. Can’t ask for much more!

Insanely good haircut and literally the exact same price as everyone else in the area. Additionally, as someone who is fairly new to New York it was great to see such an interesting shop (and museum), and actually chat about the history of the place and profession. I highly recommend, and I will return.

I love quirky hole-in-the-wall places that you really can't experience anywhere else, and this place was awesome! My parents were coming into town for 3 days and as soon as I found this place I told my dad that one thing he has to do while he's in NY is get a haircut from the barbershop museum, because where else can you get this experience. My dad and I also love trivia and Arthur, the proprietor, has so much knowledge that is so unique. He was professional, exceptionally kind, very personable, and one hell of a barber. He was so welcoming, chatted with us the whole time, gave us interesting facts about barbershop history, as well as all the memorabilia around his shop. The location is beautiful. It's not big, but there's so much to look at, and everything in the store came from a barbershop somewhere in the world. This place deserves all the recognition, and for a true, classic barbershop experience, he is SO reasonably priced. 100% recommend. Support local businesses and support the barbershop museum! You won't be disappointed :D

I was in NYC for a party last weekend and walking up Columbus Ave my wife and I came across this extraordinarily cool Museum/Barber Shop. (Glad I was not on other side of street or would have missed it). As the sign said, I texted for a haircut appointment, Arthur returned my text, and the next morning I returned and got a great haircut at a very reasonable price in a truly one of kind location with a one of a kind barber. Incredibly interesting/entertaining and functional experience --- and a cold beer too!

I love this place so much, and they are my go to barbershop. Arthur is so kind and always takes such good care of me. Even though I am now almost 80, I always leave looking and feeling like a million bucks. My wife always gives me compliments after getting my hair cut, too. Thank you, Arthur!

The best haircut I've had in my 11 years living in NYC- Arthur is meticulous. He will help find the best style for you. He went through the history of barbers which was very interesting- the shop itself has a lot of history, has a cool vibe, and Arthur comes from a multigenerational barber family. Call to setup an appointment with him!

I went here for the first time about a month ago, and I am 100% sold on Arthur as my new hair guy. His prices are reasonable (lower than local salons), he is an expert barber, plus he is super knowledgeable about the history of barbers. I'm about to book my next appointment ahead of my upcoming wedding. That's how much I trust Arthur to deliver.

This location recently opened on the UES. I went today and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Arthur cares deeply about his clients and did a tremendous job with my hair. The space provides a fascinating look at the history of barbershops. Overall I can't imagine a better haircut experience - will definitely be back!

I came in for a haircut and felt like I was taking a risk leaving my barber that I have been going to for years. I walked in explained what I wanted and was given exactly not only what I wanted but what I NEEDED. He used his expertise to explain how we can get the look I need and what he can do to get me there. Very happy with the service.

A haircut and a taste of history in one place. Chairs are amazingly vintage, even the kids’ chairs. The whole place is a museum! What a treat! Arthur did a wonderful job with our son’s haircut. Try this place out in Upper East. Looking forward to our next visit!

Arthur runs the most charming museum on the East Side. Full of fascinating historical information, he is a fourth-generation barber himself. And his prices are very competitive. Check him out!
