I love all things related to metaphysics, magic, and lockpicking, so I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while. Best thing it’s free. So much history and artifacts, including old posters, photos, and some of Houdini’s locks. It’s a small museum combined with a magic store in the back.

The guy that helped us is awesome! He showed our son, who is just learning magic, several tricks, and explained them. We spent over an hour in the shop, watching, learning, admiring, and enjoying ourselves. They have some wonderful Houdini memoribila, and a cute, lop eared bunny named Trixie. They have books, collectibles, and magic supplies for sale, and their prices are excellent. The man that helped us has a great personally, and he blew our minds several times with his tricks. Note that they are moving soon. (Early December 2017)

It's not a very big museum - it's just a single room - but they have some fascinating artifacts from Houdini's life on display. It's free entry if you just want a look around for a while, or you can pay $10 for a guided tour, even if there is only you! It was fantastic to get a private tour from the knowledgeable and friendly staff member. You also get a small discount off the magic shop items from the magic shop operating in the same room after you go on the tour, if that interests you.

The Houdini Museum is a tiny yet informative museum showcasing an impressive array of props Harry Houdini actually used, as well as letters and a few items from other magicians. It's located on the fourth floor of what looks like an upscale apartment building that lists no name, only the street number, so you'll need to pay attention when arriving. Everything is inside one room and behind the counter is Fantasma Magic where they sell magic-themed games and the like. The staff are super friendly and actually showed me some magic tricks! I absolutely recommend this museum and since admission is free, it's literally a priceless experience! P.S. flash photography is permitted so shoot away!

This place is THE COOLEST. If you enjoy magic or magic history or Houdini, you must go. The staff is incredibly gracious and knowledgeable, especially Nick and Roger (the owner). Easily one of the best things I've done in Manhattan in ages.
