The church has been in st. Marks forever. The church is also pretty historic. Great place for photos or even just hang out and eat while sitting on the bench. Overall great landmark for st.marks and the neighborhood.

One of the few buildings in New York that is hundreds of years old. In the beating heart of the east village and a nice place to sit outside to rest or go inside if you can to experience Colonial charm or take a moment to contemplate a higher authority.

This is the location of the longest standing religious house of worship in New York. The original building was a small chapel built by Peter Stuyvesant, whose remains are interned at the foot of the β€œnew” church. The courtyard is also a graveyard which had many notable historical figures including Daniel Tompkins who was the fourth governor of New York (1807 - 1817), and the sixth vice president of the United States (1817 to 1825). The church also acts as a center for arts with an ongoing calendar of events. It is said that first Sam Shepherd play was performed here in the mid 1960’s just to give you a sense. If you are in the area or live nearby it’s worth a visit and plan to return when there is something on. New Years Day 2024 will feature a poetry marathon from 11am till Midnight. Amazing right!??!!

Wonderful cultural and spiritual resource. There before anything else, eponym of St Mark's Place. Home of the Poetry Project, Danspace, and countless communuty initiatives. Wise and empathetic Low Episcopal clergy; extremely mixed, warm congregation. Great service music, with jazz musicians sitting in.

Sorry, I didn't go here for church services. The rating is for the people in the church whom we celebrated the Life and Legacy of my Grand Uncle Steve Cannon. Peace and happiness, love and many blessings!

Excellent performance space. But an air-conditioner would be REALLY great.
