It's such a bummer to write a bad review but I feel that I do need to share my recent experience at this establishment. The bouncer exhibited unprofessional behavior towards my friends and other patrons, handling low stress situations with a discourteous attitude. Furthermore, the bouncer made inappropriate and stereotypical remarks directed at my Asian friends, which were not only offensive but also showcased a lack of maturity that one would not expect from an individual in his mid-forties.

Very cool, underground, ‘old school’ Jazz listening room. They book REAL New York Jazz here too. This place captures the real spirit of NYC and the Village.

Awesome music venue - they feature top NYC jazz artists in an intimate listening room - one of only a few of a kind in the city. Creative programming, great sound, and a welcoming atmosphere. You might be fooled by the sport bar on the street level.. but this place is a world-class jazz venue.

Fine music & drinks. Nobody mentioned a fee for taking a seat though, nor was it written anywhere. They made me pay 20$ for sitting there half an hour. Wouldn‘t have done that if i had known in advance

Music is great- they can do better with drinks. It’s cheap but not enjoyable. Menu had stains all over. Just wish the establishment tries harder if they are charging covers.

Absolutely amazing music! Super cool speakeasy below a sports bar in a historic Jazz club in the West Village.

Serendipity got us to go here and we truly felt the spirit of NY jazz last Tuesday night. We heard a wonderful Blues show (Jerry Dugger) as well as a guitarist who played wonderfully. Too bad we were just visiting NY for a few days only or else, we would be there every night! Good luck. We hope to be back next time we are in NYC.

This venue transcends time and space. It is a room where music history was made and recorded, and you feel it as soon as you walk in. Such an amazing space, and such an amazing management bringing it back to the present and future. Don't take it for granted and make it a must stop for jazz and blues in the city.

This historic jazz venue appears at first glance to be nothing more than an unfinished basement storeroom. But close your eyes for a minute and you'll feel the presence of Miles Davis, Art Blakey and the other jazz greats who played here. Monday nights are an unusual treat, when radio personality Matthew "Fat Cat" Rivera plays rare 78 RPM jazz records from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

First time writing a review. Be very careful of the hostile management. I saw the bouncer throwing stuff and manager being arrogant. Embarrassing moments for the business forsure.

First time ever writing a review, As a group of 10 people of mixed races, some of us visiting New York to meet friends and family, we were eager to spend an enjoyable evening together in the city. I must admit that I am not a jazz enthusiast, but I was looking forward to having a lovely time with my friends and family in this jazz bar. Unfortunately, our excitement was short-lived, as we were not even able to enter the establishment. The staff at this jazz bar displayed an appalling level of unprofessionalism and racist behavior, blatantly discriminating against our diverse group. This went against the very spirit of jazz, a genre that is known for its celebration of diversity and inclusion. Our diverse group should have been a cause for celebration in the world of jazz, which is known for embracing diversity and inclusion. Instead, we were subjected to a night of mistreatment and disrespect. This went against everything we believed jazz music represented. If you are looking for an enjoyable night out with friends or family, I strongly advise against visiting this jazz bar. The disgraceful conduct displayed by the staff is a stain on the jazz community and will only serve to ruin your evening. There are countless other jazz bars in New York City that celebrate diversity and provide the warm, welcoming atmosphere you deserve. Steer clear of this place and let your night be filled with good vibes and great music elsewhere.

It is mind-boggling the level of talent of musicianship you can find at this venue on any given night. I stumbled in one night and saw a group of really inspiring, bright young talents, and on another night saw some great veterans showcasing their craft. The venue is unassuming and accessible, the waitstaff is kind, and the music is world-class. Can't recommend this joint enough.
