Wanted to have a few drinks while listening to live music during my weekend trip to New York City. Arrived around 8p on a Friday night without reservations and was able to get a table right away. This worked out perfectly as the night went on, the longer the line was and was down the street by the time I left. It's a small, intimate cocktail bar so the tables are very close to one another, but everyone is in their own world. Also, with the natural crowd noise and then the music, you couldn't hear anything at the next table anyway. Enjoyed a few small bites from the popcorn, peanuts, and olives with the drinks. Everything sounded so good, so ordered a wide-range of cocktails primarily from the Rum Cocktails and House Originals. Each drink was nicely presented and had its own character. They were well balanced between the liquor, liqueur, and sweetness. All were good, depending upon what flavor you're looking for. The small bites were simple, but were perfect for snacking. The band started around 9:30p and they sounded great. Nice mix of modern jazz, classical jazz, and their original mixes. They were very engaging and kept the atmosphere very lively and entertaining. Recommend coming here if you're in the Times Square area, just come early to beat the crowds.

We got here around 8:30/8:45pm on a Saturday and we're the first to sit at the small tables. By 9:30 it was packed. The drinks were good and service was personable. Definitely loved the vibe.

One of my favorite bars . If you are visiting time square do visit this place. Excellent cocktails and cozy ambiance. We came here early to secure the seat for the Jazz music night. The Mimiandpod brother were playing it was really awesome. The Rum House totally matched my expectation of a cozy jazz lounge. Very comfortable and intimate.

A jazz bar that is under the hotel Edison. It has a crowded and beautiful environment. The band that plays music is really good. I think the security at the entrance could be a little more polite.

What a great spot to hang out on a Friday night. Rum House has a speak easy vibe, live jazz band and an innovative drink menu. We got there around 11 pm, and the place was packed. Took us a minute to find a seat as we had no reservation. The bartenders were so accommodating, and even with the overwhelming amount of patrons, Chris took time to recommend and adjust drink recipes. Located just about 3-minute walk from prime location of Times Square, The Rum House is a well-rounded, pretty decent bar that provides great socializing at good prices. We stayed until closing :)

Loved it here. Great ambience and atmosphere. Phenomenal band (mimi & the podd Brothers) playing last night. The drinks were phenomenal. Pricey but understandable. I loved the cocktail "Star F**cker" so good I got 2 of them. Place was very tight though, they need to expand it. It's nice if you're sitting & comfortable(which i was), but many people were standing & hoping for a place to sit. Also the bathroom is in the hotel, so you have to leave the place to use restroom. Overall Highly recommend. Great night.

Romantic and charming wood paneled Casa Blanca kind of bar featuring Rum drinks. (Although they have a full bar). Food is expensive nibbles... $6 popcorn and $8 pretzels... don't bother. Location near times square and atmosphere are stellar.

Very nice bar attached to the hotel Edison in Times Square. The atmosphere and Ambiance is very nice. Live music on weekends. Piano and other instruments. Bartender was great (see pictures no glasses). Drank scotch all night, but very entertaining watching him make mixed drinks for people. Talent.

Met up for drinks and bites with a couple great friends of ours who are also from the west coast. Service was phenomenal and the manager took extremely good care of us and accommodated all of us even with the available tables being reserved. Drinks were very strong and tasty. Not a ton of bite options though, we settled on the olives, pretzel and salt and vinegar chips. Atmosphere was also amazing. Low light and very chill mood inside. Live piano was also a hit!

We absolutely loved visiting The Rum House multiple times during our trip to NYC. It’s a great spot for drinks after a show—gorgeous atmosphere, excellent music, delicious drinks, and friendly bartenders. Rene in particular showed us a great time. You don’t see great rum selections at many bars, so this is a must-visit in my opinion.

Nice atmosphere but the rum prices aren’t fair. To pay $13 for bottom shelf rum like Bacardi blanco makes no sense. Also selection isn’t that good. There are a lot of great rums they are missing. As a rum lover I was hoping to find my haven but the options are a lot of bottom shelf rums priced close to top shelf rum.

For me it is one of the best cocktail places. If you are are rum cocktail lover, of course this is your place. Well done cocktail. Low lights. Low music. Even perfect if you want to go alone. Try to sit at the bar because you will see all the bartenders skill and you will always have a nice talk. They also have cocktail with other kind of spirits, but if you are at The Rum House, you should try some Rum Cocktails

I enjoyed my time at the Rum House. My friends and I were to watch the jazz live music, got cocktails and met a very nice guy at the place. Service was excellent and the ambience good. I'd recommend not to go hungry to this place since there is not much food options. I definitely would go back.

The is my favorite place to go party in NY whenever I'm there. They play great reggae and African songs and its always a party inside. It gets crowded in a good way. The drinks are good. Just an awesome and good vibes SF scene kinda place. I love it.

So glad we chose this place for a post theater drink! They have live music every night from 830 or 930 (depending on night) and happy hour 4 to 6. Fun atmosphere, very cozy and great service! Can't wait to go back

Nice selection tasty taco. They have a taco Tuesday deal as well so bonus if that’s the day you stop by. 10 beers on tap and super highly rated margaritas. Our server was friendly and helpful.

The Rum House was my favorite place out of my entire trip! We went here on our first night and no other place could compare. First of all the service was amazing. Rene went above and beyond! The drinks were delicious and strong! Then the live music was just the cherry on top. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. If you're around the Time Square area, this place is A MUST stop! 🧡

We came here the first night we were in Manhattan, and it’s quite the atmosphere in here! It’s such a classy and fun place to come for a drink. There was an excellent band which also was playing. My girlfriend and I got a mojito and a martini, both of which were superb. Great vibes!

Chris was the best bartender I’ve ever had. He was personable, accurate; and creative. Not only did he make menu drinks to perfection, he created drinks that were balanced, and well rounded. Come early as it gets busy, sit at the bar, enjoy a cocktail or two, or three, and listen to some fun live music. A must visit before or after a show.

Just go. Thank me later - Authentic Old Manhattan - What a GEM! As a Canadian who has been to New York almost a dozen times over the years, I have certainly developed a love for my favourite hot spots in the city. I JUST discovered The Rum House last Sunday night (September 24, 2023) along with my best friend (who found the place on google), and WOW were we ever surprised. I can say with certainty that this was likely my most favourite night I've ever spent in Manhattan, EVER. George and his band sang straight to my heart with all the classic songs you'd expect out of a vintage New York in the 40's, 50's and 60's. I sang my heart out without a care in the world while George stayed classy and hit every note as though he was Sinatra's, Martin's and Armstrong's living spirits! The drinks were great, the people were from all over the world, the staff was friendly and professional and the entire experience was a thrill. My heart needed that night, thank you for delivering. I will be back! Well done! Marcie.

We had such a fun time at the Rum House! We intended to stay for a drink or two, but ended up getting to know the awesome bartenders, Chris and Rene. They mentioned the jazz band Mimi and the Podd Brothers were excellent and that we should stay for a few songs! So our couple hours/drinks turned into...multiple hours and multiple drinks! I haven't had this much fun in over 2 years. Cannot wait to go back!

Great bar located in the corner of a historic art deco hotel. Drinks are slightly expensive, but high quality and reasonable given the location near Times Square. 100% worth the price for the live music shows. If you are looking for a classy venue to be transported back to the roaring twenties, this is the place.

Got to experience this amazing lounge! This speakeasy is located behind the main bar at the Normandie Club, and make a reservation so you won't have any issues! There is a $50 deposit per person, so don't skip out. After ringing the doorbell and checking in, we were immediately seated.

The manager, Adrina, was an absolute delight to work with. I had to set up a last minute networking reception, and we were able to have it at The Rum House with such ease! The atmosphere is delightful: dark woods with a cool speakeasy vibe. The drinks were great too. Delicious rum cocktails are their specialty. Everyone loved the location as it was so close to our conference hotel and just off of Times Square. We all had a wonderful time!

(Translated by Google) We went one night to have a drink, the place has the typical charm of a tavern, all made of wood. Live jazz music. Attention from the waiters very good, the cocktails too, very good. Due to its location, we imagined it would be more expensive, but it is reasonably priced. I love this place! We stayed at the Edison hotel and this place is at its lobby, just in front of the elevators, so it was impossible for us not stopping there every night before going to bed, because we could hear the live music like telling us come on in! We went 3 nights in a row and every night was a different group of artists performing, all of them wonderful, it's hard to say which is better. If you like Jazz and Blues you will enjoy this place. You not only see tourists here but also locals. Service at bar and at tables is excellent. I highly recommend this place, I can't wait to go back to NYC to go again to the Rum House!

  • 5/5 Desiree F. 4 years ago on Google
We were staying at the Edison Hotel, and the Rum House is located at the first floor, just in front of the elevators. It was just our must go every night before going to sleep. Every night they have live music and every night different artists (and they don't charge cover), all the artists were so good, I couldn't say which was better than the other. We sat at the bar and some times at tables and always good attention. A must go, we definitely go back our next time in NY.

Great selection of rum base cocktails. Though to go wrong with any of the choices! I tried the Dark and Stormy which was a little heavy hand with the ginger beer but still amazing. The Old Cuban was a tasty option that was not as sweet.

Dozens, maybe hundreds, of runs, but seating is hard to find. I was there both Friday and Saturday nights, so one would expect a crowd, but even early in the evening, standing room until you see someone leave and then it's musical chairs, only a little more polite. A quaint small bar with beautiful dark wood walls, but music and chatter so loud that conversation is a challenge. Of course you are packed in so tightly that you can't help but meet new people. A small adventure in New York City, but as an old friend says, adventure is just discomfort remembered.

Fantastic range of rums with knowledgeable staff. I would say slightly expensive, however that is representative of it's proximity to Times Square.

Went on a Wednesday night and there was live music (blues/rock/soul ). I'm a whiskey guy but this place served me the best rum old fashioned I've ever had. It's nothing like a whiskey old fashioned, but it deserves a name of it's own!

I got to the Marina pretty early before my 8pm appointment at Bodyrok, so I had so much time to kill after visiting Tacko. I decided to be a patron of the bourgeois yuppy bar "The Dorian," which opened not too many years ago.
