I was pleasantly surprised with my one night stay at the Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West Hotel. I reserved a guest room with one queen bed as the location is ideal to the Salsa Socials I attend on Sunday nights close to the hotel. The hotel is immaculate, great front desk staff and quick response to any technical issues you may have with a guest room. The room is not roomy, but is was really great as a no frills place just to rest my head for a night. My room on the 11th floor even had a view of the city and partial view of the Hudson River. They have a great first floor area for sitting and they have a really great full service self serve breakfast in the mornings. Breakfast is included as part of your stay!! Breakfast was great and the place was buzzing with guests speaking in many different languages. I stuffed my face at breakfast!! Bring a magnifying mirror if you need to do makeup and the closet space is not that roomy but serves the purpose for the night. The room has a small refrigerator and coffee maker and coffee and tea bags. At night there is a snack area on the first floor in case you get the munchies where you can buy chips, ice cream and snacks. I paid $117.00 which is a steal in NYC. They will add a $50.00 deposit upon checking in which will be refunded to you down the road. It's within walking distance to the Intrepid Air and Space museum and the west side waterfront. It's relatively close to the 42 Street area, within walking distance. The bathroom hair and face wash products are DOVE brand which is great. I will be using this hotel when I go to my Sunday night salsa socials then crash at my guest room. Great deal!!

Staff was very friendly. Room was as expected. The check-in process was a disaster. I stopped at 11:30am to see about an early check-in, they said no, not before check-in time at 3pm. Which is fine. What they completely botched was telling everyone no earlier than 3pm then trying to check everyone in at once. VERY poorly planned. Finally got to my room just before 4pm and my room had no door handle, pillows, soap, etc. They kindly moved me to another room, which I finally got into at 4:30pm. Completely wiped out any time for relaxation, which was the only thing that really mattered to me regarding my stay as I had a very busy evening ahead. I'm reasonable and understanding, but this was a very bad decision. Can't check anyone in before 3pm? Are they literally cleaning ALL the rooms at the exact same time? There has to be a clean room or 2 or 3 that you could start checking people into. Very disappointing.

We arrived at this hotel after a long flight from the UK, to be told that our booking had been transferred to the adjacent Comfort Inn. The Holiday Express looked like it was being used as a Covid Quarantine hotel. My complaint is that we were not told in advance and we were then charged by both Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn express. It took 5 days for this to be resolved. If you are looking for a hotel with good customer service, this is probably not the place for you.

Touria at the front desk was especially delightful. This place really deserves a higher rating of 3.8 overall. You can tell the staff really cares about guest experience and work hard to make sure you have a good stay. Reasons for 5 star rating: 1) Very clean and smelled good. Property overall needed some updating but I’d take clean and well-maintained over dirty any day. 2) Amazing staff, friendly — makes you forget you’re in New York 3) decent breakfast included. 4) stayed 3 nights and they did a turn down each day, fixed beds, emptied trash, replenished towels, etc. 5) comfy beds, no stains on linens and towels 6) fantastic location in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen and walking distance to all the tourist attractions. 7) Value! At $80 - $100/ night in a prime location of NYC… if you give this place less than 5 stars then you probably woke up with some dirty New York rats in your hotel room lolol

Just wanted to share that we found an amazing deal for a 3-night stay at a hotel in Manhattan. Even though it was a bit far from Times Square, the comfort was totally worth it. The hotel was completely booked because the prices were so good. The rooms were clean and the staff was really helpful. Sadly, this was our last stay in New York as we're heading back to India. We had an incredible time in the USA and we love it here! 🇺🇸 See you all again soon!"

Do not stay here. We reserved a room months ago, only to find out weeks before our trip that they are NOT taking reservations. (We found out through reviews, called the hotel and they confirmed that yes, they had NO room for us even though we had a reservation which we made through the website months ago.) We had to scramble at the last minute to find a different hotel room in NYC which was really booked.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences of our life. They didn't take my wife's allergy to down bedding seriously. They refused to bring us pillows, they also refused to remove the down from our room so my wife could barely breathe. We ended up sleeping on towels. There was blood on the bedspread, the tv didn't work, the AC didn't work. It was a good location for the cruise terminal but that's where the positives end. The staff were rude. We were given a room that was inferior to the one we booked and paid for. Absolutely a terrible experience.

Sorry to say we didn’t really enjoy our stay here. Staff were friendly but lacked training and procedures. Breakfast included was average at best. Our first room had a bad odour however our second room was much better. We traveled as a group and had the following occur. Constantly needed to have door cards reprogrammed, we had one of our rooms allocated to someone else who scammed their way in. Our guests arrived back to find someone in their bed, police were involved, staff provided the intruder access without proper checking. Two of our younger guests were kicked out of their room at 7am to allow carpet replacement. I also witnessed the lack of staff ability thru lack of training and education to deal with a failed lift in the building. This resulted in someone stuck in the lift for approximately an hour. Place was clean in general but very run down! None of our group were all that happy and we wouldn’t stay there again.

We stayed at this location on Oct 25th for one night before our cruise. The room we were given was right beside the elevators so we heard them moving all night. The toilet was running all night and the mini fridge's compressor would kick in whine really loud then click off about every 5 mins. The absolute worse was the wet carpet near the window and bathroom. It soaked our socks and was squishy under bare feet. We spoke to the front desk and she told us they would send someone to investigate the next day. We asked for another room and were told they were booked up solid yet when I went on their website I could book a room. No compensation was given to us we just had a night of no sleep. So beware when staying at this hotel!!

The front desk was friendly and helpful. I had to change rooms because the window latches were broken in the first room so the windows wouldn't close completely. The room was extremely tight...I could stand up from the desk chair without swiveling right because it's mashed between the desk and bed. The neighborhood is ok, bordering on great food in Hell's Kitchen.

The rooms were clean and beautiful. They allowed us to check in early. They also allowed us to put our luggage in a private room. They also gave me a better room because their room was empty. Breakfasts were very good. You can eat a lot. The only problem was it was a little far from the centre.

My daughter and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the HIE Midtown West. (October 2022) We were more than satisfied with our room and the service we received. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet for a city hotel. Susanna McCoon the General Manager was readily available when I had an inquiry about a future stay at the hotel, which she booked for me. Her staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is right around the corner at a discounted rate. The hotel is walking distance to the theaters on Broadway and many excellent restaurants. We also enjoyed a beautiful walking path along the Hudson River, just across the street from the hotel. I highly recommend the HIE Manhattan Midtown West and will continue to stay there when visiting the city.

Everything as expected. Not a long check in process. Professional desk service. $50 deposit. The room looked exactly like the pictures. Dove products in the bathroom. I didn’t get up in time for breakfast. But the coffee was good. A bit far from shops. I bought my food in another neighborhood. Housekeeping tried to get into my room early. But overall nice stay.

Check in was at 3p.m we did not get to the hotel into 5p.m and the room was not ready, when we finally got the keys the staff was up there vacuuming and the room smelled like cigarettes and there was hair in the shower(it wasn't mine I have locs) They tired to act like they did not understand what we were talking about but I know they did. Breakfast was ok however the orange juice and other juice tasted watered down it was nasty. My response was I am sorry yet I had to spend my hard earned money on a room that was not ready at the time it was supposed to be and smelled like cigarettes is crazy.

What a gem not far from Time Square. While the room is a little small, it was well appointed, nice bathroom and a great bed. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast is the best I have ever had in hotel. I will come back and stay here again. Great place.

Elevators don't work, so had to take the stairs and someone was doing repair work on the elevator right outside my room for 30 minutes at midnight so I couldn't go to sleep. Room key card machine also did not work so I had to get reassigned rooms twice. Not what you want in a hotel. Look elsewhere.

Each corner of this hotel whispers stories, each meal is a feast, and each staff member a friend, coming together to craft an experience that's nothing short of magical.| Sensational in every sense! I enjoyed my stay so I gave them 5 stars. But I do want to make comments so others are aware. Con •Breakfast can get PACKED on the weekends even when you go early. It’s the same food every day. •Towels are stiff and hard •Room is small • Hotel is across the street from a salvation army rehabilitation center. There’s no security so anyway can just walk inside the hotel and go up the elevator to our rooms. •You won’t get bar soap, just liquid soap dispensers PRO •Friendly staff •Rooms cleaned daily •Free breakfast every morning •Close to Times Square •Inexpensive

Clean and updated room. Small as is standard for NYC but great location. Good complimentary breakfast as well. The only issue we had was that the garage affiliated with this hotel was full. I would have thought they would have saved a spot for a hotel resident.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The hotel staff were rude, they didn't take my severe allergy to feather bedding seriously even though I called prior to our visit to confirm the down would be removed from the room. First they put us in a double room even though we booked and paid for a king room with sofa bed, they eventually moved us to a king room. No sofa bed and there wasn't room for the crib. The thermostat didn't work, the TV didn't work. We ended up sleeping on towels because they refused to bring us pillows. There was also blood on the bedspread. I would not recommend this hotel.

Do NOT book this hotel! We’re sitting in the lobby as we have since day time. We’ve been told that we couldn’t check in yet. They seem to have trouble signing in to their system. But the latest is we were told that the room isn’t ready. It is now 8:56pm. Another guy was checked in to an occupied room. What a disaster! I’ll update this with follow up information, but beware!

First of all … checkin!!!!! Olivia is THE BEST!!!! She was so warm, friendly, accommodating and efficient! Made the whole check in one of the most positive I have experienced…. Wished us happy holidays and provided us with the most perfect room! The room was quiet, clean and over looked the pool area (even though closed … makes me want to come back when it’s warm again!!!!). I would totally recommend this hotel due to convenience, cleanliness, staff and amenities (breakfast, wi fi, close to restaurants and main freeway access). STAY HERE!!! ;-)

The location has Bed bugs!!! Do not stay there at all. The manger of this location said it was not her problem and she does not understand why they reached out to her for this matter.

BEWARE. Worst customer service experience ever. This hotel is used as a Covid Quarentine center. For some reason they still let me book a room even though THERE IS NO ROOM. Then when I tried to get them to move me to another hotel they REFUSED. They did give me a refund but I had to scramble to get another hotel. I was on the phone with customer service for 4 hours because they kept hanging up on me. Even once the hotel reopens I hope people who see this review choose to go somewhere else. Worst customer service experience EVER.

Service is the worst. As soon as I checked in, I asked for a hair dryer and remote control, but I didn't get it until I checked out. And be careful with your belongings!! The housekeeper has sticky fingers.

This place is a joke. I arrived there to start my vacation with my daughter. Just for them to tell me that they aren't accepting guest. I made reservations 4 months ago. They even called me two days prior to confirm I was coming. And they couldn't even help me to find another hotel. Luckily i was able to. Almost ruined a first time experience for us. If I could give negative stars boy would I.
