Absolutely one of the most spectacular aquarium shops in NY, perhaps all of main land US. (Don't know about Hawaii, never visited. ) Their coral selection is outstanding. And I never knew, how many varieties of Clownfish, existed. The staff, are always extremely helpful, and tremendously patient. Highly recommended, at the very least a must see. Almost like visiting a zoological aquarium, completely free. Disappointment. All the frag tanks were ridden with aptasia the glass was dirty, and the tanks were full of detritus. Even the floating coral viewer was covered in salt buildup and couldn’t be used without cleaning it. The staff was unable to answer any of my questions. There were dead and sick fish. Overall, the store could use some help.😢. Some maintenance and attention to detail could completely turn the store around.

Had the worst online ordering experience. Do not order online from them. Zero communication on the shipment and could not give me a tracking # or shipment date when asked. Ended up canceling the order after a week of trying to communicate with them. PLEASE save your money and spend it somewhere else.

Manhattan Aquarium is where i first got hooked on reef tanks. Staff has always been very informative over the years. Recently Mario installed a Neptune Apex complete system. I couldn’t be happier. His attention to detail, knowledge and professionalism was much appreciated. Thanks again Mario and the staff at MA !!!! You guys are the best !!!!

If you are a fish keeper this place will blow your mind. Not the largest place ever, but still super cool. Some of the fish we had never seen in person before. Kid friendly. Reasonably priced fish too. Kind service. Look for the tank in the back with the big question mark on it.

Shipped me a severely sick dying anemone. Melissa said she would refund my money but they stopped responding after I emailed pictures as she instructed. Still did not receive a refund or any correspondence. Also they didn’t ship when they said they would after I called to confirm they would. Would never buy online from this place again.

I’m from Scotland and on holiday in New York. I decided to visit Manhattan Aquariums today with my wife and had a great experience. I ended up having a great conversation with a member of staff who was very friendly and helpful. You guys in Manhattan are very lucky to have a store like this. They have an excellent selection of fish, plants, corals and dry goods. The tanks look very well looked after. I will definitely be back next time I’m in New York!

I'm Italian, I was here a week ago for my winter holiday. I saw corals that we don't have in Europe 😍 Great store and also a welcoming cat.

Greg and Dom have been incredibly value additive and thoughtful during all stages of the process. From day 1 when I knew nothing, Dom has been amazingly patient with me, answering all of my basic questions and helping me ease into the hobby. During the information gathering stage, Dom did not rush me and gave me plenty of space and time to get comfortable before offering to help set up the tank. During the tank set up stage, I had a change of mind with the tank, so Greg and Dom had to come break down the old tank and install the new tank. They were an amazing team that accomplish the goal flawlessly in a single day. Greg is an incredibly gifted artist when it comes to creating saltwater tank live rock scape. Dom even came during his off day to help set up a tank - for that, I am forever grateful. I know the journey has not ended yet; in fact, it has just begun. The duo has already begun thinking of ideas to help me fill out the tank and even going out of their way to help me secure exotic fishes that may be hard to get. I am looking forward to continuing this great journey with Greg and Dom at Manhattan Aquariums. For anyone looking to get into this daunting hobby, Greg and Dom are your guys. They will make sure you are well taken care of at all stage of the process.

I got a small water plant here which is very healthy. The owner is knowledgeable and patient to explain what are good/bad to fishes. The price of fish looks kinda expensive, but fishes are all in good condition so probably well worth it.

Absolutely love this store! Dom was very helpful in getting my first tank set up and running. Him and the rest of the staff are a wealth of knowledge and are so helpful.

I have been in and out of the hobby over the years, but one thing that has stayed consistent is my love for this store. Living in the city means that finding a source for good livestock and supplies can be hard to come by, and this place delivers. There are definitely times I drop by Manhattan Aquariums when I’m not looking for anything in particular, and leave just feeling inspired and excited for what I might want to plan for next. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and prices are reasonable given the location.

With 2 unacceptable online orders and no response in a week I had to inform others to stay away. I’m not sure why they sell fish online not in stock in store. My first order was an adult Achilles tang which was $400 and only 2 to 2 1/2” big mind you they have a different price listed for juveniles. I should’ve learned my lesson here but I ordered a burgess butterfly a few weeks later and the order was canceled because they wouldn’t get it in stock. What’s the point of having fish “in stock” when nothing is in stock to being with.

This shop has an amazingly large selection of fish. My boys love to come here and get a new fish every time. All the fish we have purchased here, turned out very healthy and happy.

Melissa Helped me pick out a tank and I asked for the the one that was on display. She completely lied and sold me a tank bigger in size just to sell her product because the smaller one was out of stock. Seems like this place is just out there to make money and disregards the customers experience.

Great place. Clean, friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Prices are reasonable and some excellent deals. All around good experience. Corals and fish are doing great.

Go for the aquascape inspiration and unique supplies and fish, stay for the incredible customer service. The nicest employees and the best selection of hardscaping supplies I've seen yet.

Amazing staff--super knowledgable, engaging, and helpful. Have had some corals from them that have done well, but a bit of a limited selection in-store. However, i've had bad luck with fish from them--1 for 4 with one neon goby doing well, but fairy wrasse, tailspot blenny, and damsel not lasting more than 2 weeks each. Unsure if they were in-store long enough to adapt to captivity or something.

I had a good experience. Workers let me view before pouncing on me. Then asked if I needed assistance or had any questions after viewing for a bit. When I was ready the gentleman was pacient with me answered all my questions and gave alternative recommendations. I appreciated his input and honesty. They do have a lot of beautiful coral at great prices. Thank you Mahatten Aquariums you will see your blue bag return for a refill in due time!

This place is huge! But has very little variety of fish. This place feels incomplete. I must say fish are healthy. Fish tank's are clean. I didn't see anything exotic. I mean common its Manhattan I'm expecting some exotic fish store.

I live in NJ but work in Manhattan. On my breaks/or after work, I make the effort to come to this shop. Livestock always on point and the coral selection is always amazing. Keep up the amazing work! I'm still thinking about that black tang 😉 All the best, Shoomie's Reef

I bought my 1st salt water tank, fish and corals from them. The quality of the products are excellent and everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful. They have helped me through some bumps in the road and my aquarium is thriving. I highly recommend them, especially to a beginner.

They have a pretty good selection of fish corals and supplies. I initially had gotten a bottle of pods and the owner/manager was really nice about just replacing it.

My husband and I have been visiting Manhattan Aquariums now for almost 8 years. I love their selection of corals, fish, fish food and anemones. The staff is great and friendly. And that Red Sea tank at the front of the store is awesome!

The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about a wide category of saltwater tanks. This was my first visit, and I will definitely be going back. 💯 Keep it up guys!

You have an issue with your system; he has the solutions. Go to the store and check out the main reef tank. Most colorful, vibrant thriving tank I have ever seen Anywhere!! Run on over and check it out. You can thank me later.

Bought a fish without realizing it had severe fin/tail rot. Its body became covered in white spots and its fins seemed to deteriorate the same day I purchased him. I called and asked for advice and was told there was nothing I could do, but could have a refund. I'm so glad I decided to treat him anyway because after about a week he really turned into a gorgeous fish! I would shop here again, but be sure to look at the fish in detail before taking it home.

Nice little aquarium in the Hudson Yards area of Chelsea / midtown west neighborhood closer to the garment district its off of 11th Ave. The employess were nice, professional and, very friendly. Knowledgeable of fish and the care of them they also carry breeds of fish you normally do not see in most pet stores. Great place to visit if you're in the neighborhood and easy access to public transportation which is literally right around the corner from them - Hudson Yards #7 train.

I was really surprised to find an aquarium store this big in the city. They had all kinds of fish, snails, plants, shrimp and other stuff. The staff are helpful but leave you alone for the most part.
