Big Apple Greeter

Tourist attraction Volunteer organization

🫤 I am quite disappointed. I applied for a greeter four weeks in advance, but they did not find anyone although it was winter times when it is not so busy. They only let me know when I arrived which is so disappointing. People often mention greeter, experience, Apple, York, recommend, tour, Greeter, city, great, wonderful,

Today, we had a incredible day with our wonderful Big Apple Greeter, Eliot W. Eliot took us all over Manhattan, the financial district and Brooklyn. There were parts of New York we’d never have noticed, if it wasn’t for Eliot’s expert guidance and incredible knowledge of the city, he clearly loves very much. He’d put so much effort into our day, even before we left the UK and he made our day special and enjoyable.

Les gave us a SEVEN hour tour our first day in NYC. He is SO knowledgeable, kind, accommodating, flexible ….. I can’t imagine anything he could have done to make our experience better. I am extremely appreciative for this service.

David was our greeter. He was absolutely amazing showing us the High Line, Chelsea market, and Eataly. He also showed us many sites along the way. I would definitely recommend Big Apple Greeters when you are in NYC.

Best decision to spend our first day in NYC with a greeter. Ellen attended a gospel service with us in Harlem. That in itself was an indescribable experience. Afterwards we got to know Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Chinatown. We used the bus and metro and she gave us lots of useful tips. She took so much time with us and was extremely helpful. Many thanks to Ellen, she was so friendly and warm-hearted, it was very difficult for us to say goodbye. Best experience with Big Apple Greeter!

Had a lovely day with my Greeter Michelle. We visited Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central terminal, Wall St, Bryant Park, 911 Memorial and a few other places. It was a most enjoyable day to learn some of the history of NYC from Michelle. Thank you!

A geat way to get your bearings in New York on your first full day. Our guide was very friendly and so enthusiastic about NY. Like all visitors, we had a list of things to see and do during our stay but it was so helpful just to ride the subway or the bus to see where places are located for future reference (eg Bryant Pk. or the Plaza Hotel food hall) We spent about five hours with our greeter, had a ot of fun and couldn't wait to explore this wonderful city.

(Translated by Google) Informing myself before leaving, I decided to book a day with a New York greeter. Greeters are a kind of guide who live in New York and are in love with the big apple (and how to blame him!). Based on the neighborhoods you want to visit, they match you to a character who normally lives there. Never choice was more apt! It was a wonderful day with Steve, our guide. If you choose to rely on the Big Apple Greater association, consider booking at least one month before departure.

amazing tour! eliot took us around a few neighborhoods in brooklyn. he was so knowledgeable about the music scene, the city’s history, architecture, etc. and showed us some awesome spots. would 100% do another tour with big apple greeters, and would recommend to anyone on a budget (or not on a budget!) that wants a great, informative tour from a local!

What a wonderful experience we had today with Peter our great great greeter ! He speaks a perfect French and we had an amazing tour with him from Penn station, to West Village, walking on the highline. Special greedy time with an avocado squeeze and a cappuccino and later a greedy stop at Magnolia Bakery. Thank you Peter, Thank you Bug Apple Greeter ! Corinne & Jef

We had such a great time with May Chen. It was such a relaxed start to our holiday. She tailored our time together to our interests. We are travelling with two older teenagers and so we eat at a great bagel shop, shared stories about music and went shopping in a really cool thrift store. This is an amazing service. Thank you

Great experience! Big Apple Greeter matched me up with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic New Yorker, and it was a wonderful introduction to the city. I'll book again.

Cannot recommend Big Apple Greeter enough! We had a wonderful experience with our greeter who took us on a water ferry, showed us around the Upper East Side, and found us a wonderful Italian place for lunch. We enjoyed the water ferry so much we took it again later in our trip. One of the highlights of our trip for sure!

We did the Greeters Tour with Jeanne in Chelsea and on the Highline and it was really exciting to learn the history of the area. This was our first greeter tour but not our last! Highly Recommended! Special thanks to Jeanne who was so nice to us, showing us her neighborhood and telling us all the backround and history of this area.

Great organization! Nice people on the administration and the BAGreeter has time, knows a lot and can give you the inside information. Good way to get NYC better.

We met Miriam today and she was the perfect introduction to the city. She immediately put you at ease and we felt like family by the end of the day! She had a structure for the afternoon but was open to take us to where we were interested in going. She was a wealth of knowledge and answered all our tourist questions with good grace! I feel much more comfortable navigating the city now and we got a few big tourist “must do’s” ticked off in the one afternoon too. I couldn’t recommend this service enough and Miriam too.

Jeff was our Big Apple greeter and cannot recommend him highly enough. Friendly and very informative. We saw parts of New York not on the tourist trail and thoroughly enjoyed our time with Jeff.

A truly marvelous non-profit organization! Any visitor to New York City who wants a unique and memorable experience should reach out to this no cost service in advance of their trip. Their experienced greeters, all of whom are volunteers and veteran New Yorkers, offer the visitor an "insider" look at the many things that the city has to offer.

Highly recommend this experience! As family of 5 with elementary school kids, we met up with Greeter Bonnie to visit the Upper West side and had a great time. We wanted a local NYC experience. Based on the rest of our NYC itinerary, Bonnie showed us a part of NYC that we would have never seen. For 3.5 hours, we walked the neighborhood streets and parks, absorbed the energy and history of NYC, and learned about the life experience of a New Yorker. We felt that Boonie helped us see a tiny bit of the real New York City. Loved it!

We spent most of the day with Ben. He tailored a unique program for us. We learned a lot about different types of houses and life in NY on Manhattan and then we moved to Greenpoint and Williamsburg visiting at least 4 food stores each serving a unique dish and 3 breweries. We have seen places and neighborhoods we would not visit without him. He has also recommended us other places that we visited the other day and all were unique. I highly recommend to ask for a Greeter when you are visiting the NYC.

We enjoyed our day with Bonnie so much!!! She is a true New York expert and a lovely, warm-hearted lady. And she knows a lot when it comes to American History!!! We can highly recommend the Big Apple Greeters, it's the most unique experience to stroll around this town with a local. You see and hear things you would never have. Loved it!!!

Ketu gave us a magnificent view from the Skyline Lounge. We then received a lot of information and insights into the Lower Manhattan district. Thank you very much, we were impressed and definitely recommend a tour with the Big Apple Greeters. Very personal and individual! Many greetings from the Springer family
