Not sure why this place has 4 stars: we booked a 5pm spot on Saturday. The “reservation” means nothing. You have to wait in line, which was a major waste of time. Some of the games we wanted to play had 1 hour wait time each. The other games also had lines and were not as cool. Another 2-3 games were out of commission. They dont offer refunds, but can accommodate you to another day: apparently Wednesdays are their slowest days. Which do not work for most new yorkers (due to work). Came in with high hopes only to be let down… i do not recommend this place.

We went back again last weekend and had so much fun. The zombie game is so good! My son did the add on VR flying ride and he loved it. -------- This place is awesomely futuristic and so fun! VR World was a planned destination as part of my trip to the city with my 12 year old son. We arrived just before Noon so we could have access to the first and second floor during our two-hour time slot. I purchased our tickets on Groupon which helped me avoid paying handling fees on the VR WORLD website. When we arrived there were few people there so we had no wait for anything during the first hour. It did get a bit busier during the second hour so my son had to queue up and wait a bit to use different experiences but he got to do everything he wanted to in the 2 hour slot. The decor is cool. The place is clean, including the bathrooms. The staff is exceptional! Super friendly and positive. They were like personal cheerleaders during each activity in which we participated. I get motion sick so I couldn't do many of the activities but the "still" activities I used were great. There is this archery game where you kill these big monsters. I loved it!! My son loved it even more than I did. Great place! You should go!

The queue system here is terrible. This was our first time here (We arrived around 2:30pm on a Saturday). You have the option to get a 2hr pass ($44) or all day pass ($64). We opted for the 2 hr passes as we had dinner plans. They place a wrist band on you that has a scannable QR code that you're supposed to use to sign up for the queue for any VR experience you see (of which there's maybe 20). They make it very clear that you're not to scan your wrist band at more than one experience at a time (so you can't be in multiple queues). Unfortunately the top three or four attractions had an hour wait or more, so we didn't add ourselves to those queues. Many stations looked abandoned as if the equipment wasn't working, but we later found out that most of those experiences were up and running, just with only one employee who would handle multiple stations, so the station looked abandoned. We also later learned that the more popular attractions (with the one hour waits) were utilizing a different queue system. You simply gave them your name instead of scanning your wrist band. This made it easier to sign up and then enjoy other stations in the meantime. Unfortunately the wait times are also guesses at best as equipment and software sometimes needs restarting, and people aren't within earshot of when their name is called - there is no site wide paging system - If you're in the 2nd floor lounge, there is no way to know that your name is being called in the basement, which leads to people being bumped. It really was a mess. In our two hours, we experienced about 7 games total. Most of the games were fun, but there was so much wait time and general confusion that it was more annoying than anything. We missed the racing game as the employee there didn't tell us that we could add our names to the list then still get into other queues. By the time we came back to add our name the line was over 90 minutes and the employee told us that meant the queue was effectively closed. Overall we weren't impressed. I'm not sure we would go back again. If we do, I would suggest mid week and to splurge for an all day pass so that we get to try everything.

Great place to go with your kids or partner who love to play video games/VR. Lots of fun games to play. Try and pick a day when it’s less packed. We went on a Saturday, which surprisingly was not packed around 4pm. We got to experience all the VR games. For the race car game be careful when playing that one if you get motion sickness because you do feel dizzy and want to throw up! Lastly, the bar wasn’t open so you couldn’t buy any water or drinks around that time so bring a drink with you. Staff were nice and friendly except for this one girl downstairs. She was a little rude and had attitude when you ask her any questions. Besides her, everyone else is great. Thank you to that very enthusiastic guy who works in the main floor ( I wish I got his name) has curly hair and is always on the roll to making you have a great time there. Thank you Flynn, Brian, and Amy!!!

Took my two kids, 10 and 12. Got 3, 6 hour passes, $180. The staff was fine, don't understand why reviewers say they were "unhelpful", don't know what that means. It was organized and the staff was fine. The super duper flight sim was broken and unavailable, and that was disappointing to me, hence the 4 star review. (I will be back alone when they get that baby fixed... ;-)). After 5 1/2 hours I was VR'rd out and we left. The kids had an amazing time and thanked me profusely for two days for taking them! That alone was worth the price of admission. Best VR experience for me? Walk the plank, and the Haunted House simulation. VR is amazing, and it is the future, but the technology is not quite there yet for a home system. I think the next generation VR equipment will be the time to get the home system.

Took my 10 year old son for his birthday on a Saturday afternoon, and he had a blast! The staff was super helpful, and while we did have to wait starting around 2, we pretty much were able to play something the whole time.

I left feeling the burn in the best way. With the virtual reality games they have, it's very physical, but very safe. Cleanliness--Staff asks you not to touch the equipment as they get you ready instead, and you wear a face covering before putting on a VR helmet. Staff also make sure they sanitize each headset every time a new person comes off it. Games--From zombie apocalypse shooters, cooking meals and serving customers, to saving your village with a bow and arrow, and even boxing all the elite fighters, there is a good amount of games to play in this multi level space, and if you're down to grab a drink, they have a bar as well! It looked very spacious at first and seemed to have very little games, but with the time allotted we didn't get the chance to play all of them anyway. Note if you ask for water, there are no glasses of water, they sell you water in a container. Overall, four stars because it is a bit pricey for what we’re doing, but it is Midtown Manhattan so what can you expect. I had a pretty solid time and if there was a deal I would come back for sure :) Truthfully, I went on a date here and it was so much fun. Not far off from the 34th street Macys. On a date or outing you should come here and then go to karaoke with your friends or date in Koreatown nearby. You're welcome on the suggestion ;)

Well if you like VR gaming or would like to experience it, try this place out! We came at 8:40pm and were told we missed an entire wave of people. The staff was very welcoming since the time we entered. One of them that wore a white shirt (different from the other workers) seemed a little stressed. A lot of game options. We paid 2 hrs for about $40 or so per person. I came for the FPS experience (not my first rodeo)... I came. I saw. I conquered. VR may make you sick. People react differently. If you want to try it, this place is worth it. ------------------------- Tip: If you want to do the FPS games, they are on the 2nd floor which they close off at 10pm (an hour before the entire place closes).

This was actually super cool! the VR games were really fun to play. definitely the key is to come on an “off” night. we came Wednesday night and didn’t have to wait for anything. Staff were friendly and clear, had a bar where you could purchase drinks. lounge/coat area upstairs and then 2 floors of gaming. they close at 8 and shut down most games by 7:45 which we didn’t know and caught us by surprise. still got to play a good amount of games though and would definitely go back!

We went to VR world for my friend's birthday last night. We couldn't have been more disappointed. Half the machines weren't working including some of the best games and activities they have. That should be told to you before you pay to go in. The machines to scan your bracelets were also dead at most activities so it was very disorganized trying to figure out how to get into the queue for a game. There were like 6 things to do most of which had waits, which we somewhat expected, but not 1hr15m waits. The bar was also closed for some reason! A complete waste of our money. DO NOT go here it's a rip off. We felt totally scammed coming into this place. Shocked this place doesn’t have more bad reviews.

Great Place and very fun. Haven't visited since 2 or 3 years and the place has changed a lot. It Still had the original games that are popular such as Superhot, Richies Plank Experience, and Project Cars 2. The Staff is very nice and down to earth. They will be willing to help easily if you are confused about something. The Environment is technologically advanced. The Games are excellent and fun to play. Tons of shooter games which are perfect for VR. Their Music Choice is good. The Music they will play have your head bopping and you will try hard not to bust out a move and dance. It has a club aesthetic. Lastly, They have an interesting place downstairs called The Vault. As I was told, the place used to be a bank so of course there is a Vault. The Vault is dark and bland as of now, but in the future a game will be placed. It's still a good place to relax for a bit and take a break after playing games. VR World really knows how to satisfy their customers and audience.

I had such a great time here! Staff was very attentive and interactive. My friend and I had a blast trying out all the VR and 2 hrs was enough for us. I’d definitely come again. Would like to see VR World expand their selection even more if they can!

Our first time going was last night! We loved it so much that we came back this morning before our flight. Vibes were as chill as you want them or as lively as you make them. At first I was kinda timid but as I started playing the "friendly competition" started coming out. The ENTIRE staff is amazing! They explained everything needed to know and explained again when I was too retarded to understand! 🤣 Personnel were at every corner to help you and they have a great variety to games and short films. I really loved the 4 player zombie game. He loved Creed Rise to Glory and the single player zombie game. Yo Kevin, it was great to meet you and thank you so much for experience!!

Took my 11 year old on a Saturday afternoon and we had a great time. We arrived at 12:30 and it wasn't too busy so we were able to try out whatever we wanted without a wait. Towards the end of our 2 hours it started to get more crowded and there were minor waits for some games but nothing too bad. The young guys assisting with the games were all very nice and hard working, explaining each game before you started, sanitizing the headsets after use, getting them properly fitted at each game and helping during the games as needed.

Its a nice spot to change things up. Games are fun and place is clean. The issue I had was that some of the staffs were annoyed when you asked them a question about the game. After you was setup and started playing the game, I've seen a couple of people lost saying "hello" asking for help and there was no staff around to help them to continue playing the game . I found myself figuring out a game myself. It felt like if you was a blind person asking for help moving left to right with no answer. Other than that; its cool. The game I enjoyed was Zombie apocalypse because it was a 4 player game and the hire up building walk but its a one time experience. I wont do it again!

This experience is life changing. The future is here and it will boggle your mind to walk 50 stories over a plank above NY City, or slalom down a dangerous ski slope. It feels so real! This is the best place to visit in NYC. And there is something for every age and every level of gaming experience. Prices are very fair. The staff is plentiful, informative, positive and patient. I could have spent another 2 days there. Id you want to have an experience you will never forget, do go to VR World nestled under the Empire State Building. It is awesome!

If you can’t afford your own VR then sure do it for the experience…but this is very comparable to sharing a public swimming pool. Better pick a slow day to visit or you’ll be waiting to play and your 2 hour window will be gone before you know it. Not worth the hype, they are definitely geared towards adults that want to drink alcohol and play VR. For some reason there’s an upstairs with a DJ turn table and couches with a club atmosphere but they did a great job with the decor.

My friends and I really enjoyed this place. There are so many different games to choose from and all of them were very interesting. They accommodated us so well when we missed our time due to train issues they made sure we were well taken care of and that everyone had a great time 10/10 recommended!!!!

So much fun! Loved the vibe, the bar and the games were so cool. They organize it well so you can put your name on a wait list while you play other games. The staff are super chill and helpful with the games you’ll never not know how to play. The vault zombie game was intense and felt sooo real. I loved it will definitely be going back.

I booked for 3PM and it seemed like they fully booked and even took people who walked in so the place was crowded. The check in person did not explain anything on how the games worked (using the wristbands). Half of the VR games did not have staff working them and the tablets to scan your wrists didn’t work either so it was a mess. Some of the staff was great like Sofiya! She took her time to explain how the games worked to multiple families who looked just as lost as we did. However other staff like Lucas was rude when I asked if I could be added to the tablet list since the wristbands didn’t work. He said he was too busy and I should go to a different game. A staff change happened at around 4 and they were actually pretty nice. Overall not worth the $44. Book elsewhere. The place is very small and the wait for the games is ridiculous. There is no order so you’re really just walking around in circles trying to find a game to play.

Not too many selections that are anything that you can’t do at home, but without a line. Only difference is that they have a bar and a bunch of children also playing the games. It seems like a great place to bring your kids. Short playing time with the lines, but a great staff and drinks. Fun for a date. Fun for children. Bad for a gamer

Games were fun, for the most part. However, staff babies you through all the games, which takes a lot of the fun away. In my particular trip, the white male with glasses had horrible customer service, and frankly ruined the remaining 45 minutes of my time. Would not come back.

Really Fun Place. More Games That I Expected To Be. It Was Couple People At The Same Time I Was But There Was Always A Available Game Or Options To Join With Other Group.

  • 4/5 Jae V. 1 year ago on Google
The games run really well and they have a good selection of games. It's also really beginner friendly for those who have never played VR. Most of the staff was really nice but very few seemed bothered. The bartender was extremely rude and condescending however. I would have liked a more secure coat check area as it's just a rack upstairs with no supervision. Overall it was very fun, aesthetically pleasing, and clean.

I had so much fun like I'm not a gamer or anything this was getting out of my comfort zone and in my competitive side. AMAKA staff was so sweet and was my hype lady the staff were all professional communicated instructions well and where readily available to support. I went without out my children 1st time now guilt for having so much fun has me going back in August.
