Good spot to rest your feet if you are near it! So many cool artists playing songs, dancing and selling interesting things. I was able to enjoy a spot in the shade and get a feeling of how new Yorkers enjoy themselves haha also this place appears in different movies and that's always fun.

Great to see during day or night. Christmas has a tree up but wasn't lit when I went by. Awesome to see Empire building one way and World Trade tower other way. All around great spot.

Washington Square Park is a hustling and bustling park and a must-see spot in NYC, neighboring NYU on one side. The park is full of artists selling their art, people playing chess, food carts, live music, skateboarders, locals and tourists! It has shady areas, a fountain and the famous Washington Square arch. This arch is beautiful day and night. Great place to hang out, snap pictures, support local artists. If you aim just right, you can get a picture of the Empire State Building through the Arch from one direction, and the One World Trade Center from the other direction.

Beautiful and worth going to see. But it’s not without its issues. The crowds can be crazy and get in the way. Take the subway and forget about trying to find parking. But enjoy the park. Don’t forget the park. Take a lunch and enjoy the area.

Beautifully maintained park with lots of history. I particularly enjoy walking around the park in the morning. I always stop to check out the dog park, love the water bowl fountains for the pups! Tons of shade, plenty of places to sit and relax.

Really nice architecture. Sort of like that statue in Paris, France or Barcelona, Spain.

A serene park, tall trees and beautiful concrete arch at the Washington Square.... This Park is about ten acre in area. Located at the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. We liked this Park next to Central Park due to its being an icon and lively atmosphere surrounding this place.....

It's one of my favorite parks in NY. It is full of personality and craziness at the same time. Always crowded but felt very safe.

This park is very popular with locals, free toilets in the park and lots of artisan stalls selling everything from pictures to bracelets. The arches were in some popular films including Avengers Endgame. The door way in one of my pics was where Will Smith lived in I am Legend

In 1889, to celebrate the centennial of George Washington's inauguration as president of the United States, a large plaster and wood Memorial Arch was erected over Fifth Avenue just north of the park. The temporary plaster and wood arch was so popular that in 1892, a permanent Tuckahoe marble arch, designed by the New York architect Stanford White, was erected, standing 77 feet (23 m) and modeled after the Arc de Triomphe, built in Paris in 1806. During the excavations for the eastern part of the arch, human remains, a coffin, and a gravestone dated to 1803 were uncovered 10 feet (3.0 m) below ground level.

The arch is a nice monument to visit if you are travelling to New York. The square around it can be quite busy and when we went despite it being a weekday, was VERY packed. It can be hard to get a good photo here as there are many other tourists attempting to do the same. The arch itself and the park nearby are still worth a visit. If you go in the spring you may even see charry blossoms in the park!

I live in the neighborhood over 10 years. It still has the charms and beauty but many drug users on the *north east corner. Just beware of it. Unfortunately, Park rangers and city police won't do anything about it. Just watch them shooting up and pass out. It's not safe to walk around late night early mornings any more.

I don’t know about most of you, but I like going to parks to find some peace. You’re not gonna find any here. So get off the train, bus or Uber snap your pics and then head back on the train, bus, or Uber. In all seriousness, there is history here worth respecting. I commend the city for keeping it free of any graffiti or most trash. But the amount of buskers, vendors, students, transients, nannies and families makes it difficult to relax. Luckily New York has plenty of parks where you can find exactly what you’re looking for.

My friend and I went up two days after Christmas and had never seen the Arch. We walked there and it was just beautiful! The Christmas tree there was beautiful and the Arch was lit up! If you're into site seeing, then, this is a must-see! Loved it!
