This is a quick trip across the East river and back with great views of Manhattan and a fleeting view of the Brooklyn bridge too. If you have an MTA subway pass, this is free. It was quite crowded and though they restrict 50 people per tram car, it was a bit too close for my COVID-liking.

Great translation option. Kiosk is at the site. Believe it cost 2.75 or something like that for 1 way. Not bad at all. Definitely recommend it, and it's a nice ride over to Roosevelt Island.

The Roosevelt Tram is a must do. It's cheap, just swipe your Metro card which you should buy before you get there and avoid the queues. The island itself is quaint and worth exploring. The views of the Manhattan Skyline is spectacular.

Great Experience. If you are tourist and want to enjoy the view or video it, stay front of the que to get s good spot. Only few seats to sit. It's short travel, so no need to sit though. Stand and enjoy!

One of the best rides in NYC. You can see the whole city from the tram. The price was also cheap. It's better to go in the evening. The place looks magical then.

Once you work out the ticketing system, the tramway trip was a) not crowded, even though we went at near sunset, and b) well ventilated via grilled slots in the windows. The views were excellent.

Tramway Plaza on Roosevelt Island offers a unique and breathtaking view of Manhattan that you won't find anywhere else. The experience of riding the tram to get there is already exciting in itself, and when you arrive, you're greeted by this stunning vista. The plaza itself is well-designed and perfect for a leisurely walk. It's an ideal spot for a picnic, photography, or simply to relax and take in the incredible scenery. The view of the Manhattan skyline, the Queensboro Bridge, and the East River is absolutely mesmerizing, especially at sunset when the city lights up. The whole experience is like a hidden gem within the city, and I highly recommend it to both tourists and locals. It cost only 2.90 like metro ride. Tramway Plaza is a must-visit for anyone who wants a different perspective of New York City. It's a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan while still being in the heart of it. Truly a remarkable place!

A few minutes by cable car which during the ride enjoy a stunning view of the Hudson River, you may reach a green and quiet island. On a short walk on the island you can see the breathtaking view of Manhattan towers . The only downside to Roosevelt Island is the limited choice of places to eat somethin. Beyond that it is highly recommended for a weekend getaway.

Great, low cost mini adventure for visitors. Take the 'tram' (it's a cable car) and head south on arrival, to visit the newer, landscapes walks, catch the bus, sit by the river, or visit the FDR monument, which is clean (no dogs, finally!) and beautifully, simply designed. There's an abandoned smallpox hospital too! A great old ruin and part of New York's heritage. Great views over to Manhattan. This is a simple, inexpensive, and relatively peaceful activity place to visit that only needs a couple of hours. You can read the history boards while you're there if you don't read about the island first!

I love the experience of riding the tram from New York to Roosevelt island. You can take the tram with metro card. No need to buy a new card to take the tram ride. Take your position near the glass. Don't sit just stand if you want to take a good picture or video of the view from the tram. I recommend you to spend some time in Roosevelt island. It's also a nice place to explore. You should visit in the evening because it is too hot in the day time.

Cool tram ride to Roosevelt Island. Very nice views. I was disappointed that they don't have public restrooms. If they do, I couldn't locate them. Otherwise, it was fun riding the tram.🚊

This was SO fun. My wife and I went exploring all over the place. She used to come to the city all the time as a child. When she told me about the Roosevelt tram to get onto Roosevelt Island, I thought she was joking. This was a very unique way to see the Brooklyn Bridge and look back at Manhattan where we just finished exploring for the day. This area seemed mostly residential which was a very nice change from the business of the city across the river. It was very enjoyable walking around Roosevelt Island. Unfortunately we did not have time for the lighthouse, but I am planning to come back even if that's all I do! (And of course Little Italy).

Though I'm somewhat local I had not been to Roosevelt Island & the ride alone was worth it. Great views both directions! Easy to ride even if you have a fear of heights. Friendly people, the island is enjoyable to walk around with Manhattan& water views. Can't wait to go back on a warmer day.

The Roosevelt Island Tramway soars over the East River, but recent changes have added turbulence. Crowds from the F train's absence pack the cabins, making rush hour a sardine can. Then there's the occasional tram tantrum, leaving you grounded while your ETA takes flight. But amidst the chaos, the tram shines: gleaming windows, friendly operators cracking jokes, and breathtaking city views. So, is it worth the ride? If you can handle the squeeze and potential delays, the stunning views and friendly crew make it a worthwhile shortcut. Just pack your patience.

Title: A Convenient Hub with Plenty to Offer - Tramway Plaza, New York I recently visited Tramway Plaza in New York and found it to be a hub of activity and convenience. The location is ideal, with easy access to both Manhattan and Roosevelt Island via the tram. The plaza itself is clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasant place to wait for the tram or simply to relax. While Tramway Plaza offers plenty of amenities, it can get quite busy at times, especially during peak hours. Nevertheless, the efficiency of the tram system offsets any potential congestion, and the overall experience is positive. Overall, Tramway Plaza is a convenient and lively destination that caters to both locals and tourists. With its central location and diverse offerings, it's definitely worth a visit.

Ok so hear this.. I've been living near the city for how long.. and I've never known about this!!! This Tramway, though short, is an amazing experience! Requires regular metrocard fare but the ride is unique and enjoyable! Going out was pretty crowded but after eating nearby, coming back was very few people and we could really enjoy it! (Also it was 8 of us girls at night and with 3 metrocards we tried to get everyone through but one couldn't and the conductor waited then came and swiped her though. Very generous)

Kind of a hidden gem in New York City. Great views of the East River & a great way to explore Rosevelt Island. It was not crowded at the time and the cost is the cost of a MTA ticket. You actually use you MTA card. Highly recommended

Sky tram that connects Manhattan and Roosevelt Island and only cost a swipe of the metro card ($2.75). They run regularly and is large enough to accommodate a large crowd but you'd probably want to do during non peek hours so it more confutable to get a viewing point and enjoy the ride. The are a few bench seats at the front and back of the tram. The ride is very stable and only takes a few minutes. Roosevelt Island is very small but it offers some stunning views of Manhattan and worth a visit if you are in NYC.

A fun way to explore Roosevelt Island. There is a long line to get Metro cards. There vending machine doesn't take $50 dollar bills and some foreign credit cards. It will be wise to get a metro card in advance with enough money. The tram car is not air-conditioned so it could get steamy insid. But the beautiful scenery crossing the East River made up for it. It's worth walking around the station to snap a picture of the moving tram. It matches well with the historical Queensborough Bridge, the Manhattan skyline and the modern buildings and green backdrop on Roosevelt Island. You have to pay both ways.

Nice experience! You can see Queensboro Bridge from it. It shows so many places. It is completely free if you have a metro pass otherwise it will cost you $2.9 one way. I will say you must try it as it is a time experience. You can click so many good pictures from this trolley.

Tramway Plaza offers a highly recommended stroll for those who appreciate life from new heights. The entry process was surprisingly swift, and the total cost of round-trip tickets was around $5. It is particularly recommended for lovers of urban views, as for just $5, you can enjoy an incredible view of the city. Although the cable cars tend to fill up quickly, if you’re lucky, you might secure a seat. Though the ride is brief, it provides a unique opportunity to capture stunning photos and videos of the city from above. While I didn’t have the chance to explore the island in detail, I would recommend this mode of transportation for tourists wishing to enjoy panoramic views at an affordable cost.

Tramway plaza has been redone! Nice place to relax or have lunch, plenty of benches with lots of sun and shade. Also had a nice view of the Queensboro Bridge. The plaza is surrounded by freshly planted plants and flowers also has plants right in the middle, roses right now. The only down side is that at any time you visit there is at least 1 homeless person camping out there, but that's part of the NYC experience

Special AND Efficient ; ) can't beat that! The wait is not long, the view terrific, use your MTA Card. (And MaskUp, this year.)

Easy way to get off Roosevelt island. One of the best views of NYC. Fare is included in the MTA system so you can swipe your MetroCard or tap OMNY.

Awesome views of the city, we had a pleasant stay at Roosevelt Island, shuttle on the island ran every 15 minutes (free). Tram 2.75 each way with Metrocard. Very affordable attraction.

When you first arrive you are at the exit. A "Home Made" sign says Exit at the two sets of stairs. There is no indication or signage explaining where the entrance is. The entrance is at what appears to be the back of the structure, there's an elevator there too . A proper sign would be nice- especially for disabled people. The ride is nice, but short, a must for visitors to New York. You end up on Roosevelt Island which affords you the best views of Manhattan

  • 5/5 Sam M. 1 year ago on Google
This is a very nice scenic alternative to the subway when going or coming from Roosevelt Island. You will see most of the city as you go over the East River and you can use your Metro pass as you would on a subway train. I highly recommend this for children as it's a fairly quick activity and has elevators available to access.

This was a great experience! Roosevelt Island is like a different town that close to Manhattan. Quiet, relaxing, some good food, a nice path around the island for exercise. And the tram is the best way to go back and forth. Quiet, quick, and amazing views of the city! Worth far more than the 2.75 each way!
