A place that can serve as a time machine for those New Yorkers, visitors and tourists alike---if they will but give it a moment. Few places will have undergone such a transformation over the centuries. Look at the accompanying illustration of the Collect Pond from 1788, with its adjacent hill. Looks more like a fairly large lake, no? The illustration is a mural from inside a nearby building that itself was painted from a painting. Read the interpretive signs and, when time allows seek out the other nearby representations such as the bronze insets in other nearby locations of what the pond and its environs looked like as well as the African Burial Ground.

Great medium size park . The historical significance of Collect Pond in the early formation of New York. Seating and a little water to stare at or just relaxing. (Bowery Boys history ) … The trees also good condition and wonderful.

Small park, but really neat due to the historical significance of Collect Pond in the early formation of New York. Seating and a little water to stare at. Highly recommend listening to Bowery Boys history podcast while you enjoy the break, so much to learn! Closed when snowy

Don't go here expecting a pond- but DO read about the history OF the pond! It's truly fascinating, and when you have a sense of the historical context, the park's location has a lot more significance. Overall, it's a very small park that doesn't seem very interesting. It's just a place near the court where people can sit down and eat or people watch. However, the history behind Collect Pond is really fascinating and I do recommend sitting there, reading about the pond, and imagining a time when a large pond shaped the way Manhattan evolved.

Its a good place where you can spend the day, have a snack, or meet a friend. I like the beautiful buildings around it and green spaces. Definatly a good place for couples if they want to spend a romantic day in a beautiful place around new york.

Calm park. Devoid of the tourist crowds. Lots of pigeons. Smells a bit dank.

Cute from the outside, significant history, but really, not a nice park. It’s rather dirty, and not suitable to relax.

It's a nice park it's just that there's a lot of homeless here and it doesn't seem pleasant with all the tweakers. If it was well maintained I'll probably give it a more stars. Not child friendly skip

Nice quite relaxing little park away from the masses of the tourist areas. Good place for a little rest in shade.

Water is often off, so pictures are misleading. Many benches are taken by homeless people, but they are harmless and some what friendly.

This is not the best kept park, there is bird poop everywhere, you're lucky if you find a seat without any on it

Has some tables, a few benches. There is no water in the man made ponds, too many pigeons and there mess and people sleeping on benches during the day.

Visit the Collect Pond Park and stop for a second. Relax in this cozy park from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. The pond and its surroundings create a peaceful environment. Just relax while enjoying the natural beauty.

The city is not maintaining this small park like they would maintain Central Park.

There's a few signs that show the interesting history of this location, though I did expect to see a bit of water. Perhaps in the Spring it'll look more interesting than it does.

This place is quiet, lots of government buildings around but it lacks major beautification, everything there old, lots of bushes. People still sits there even myself, it's not stinky, it's just plain, old and ugly compared to other modern parks.

This is an oasis of calm in busy China town. The civil court house is a nice piece of architecture.

An awesome spot for a picnic on a nice day, especially with Chinatown cheap eats on the other side of Columbus park nearby - check out Tasty Dumpling 3 minutes away. There are metal benches and tables around the edge of the park with a large "pond" in the center. Manage your expectations though - the pond is filled with standing water for only a few months in the summer, starting in late June this year. The park desperately needs to be cleaned and landscaped, and some have called it an "open air homeless shelter," which isn't inaccurate but also isn't a prominent characteristic of this place. I've never had any issues with other parkgoers during the day. Being so close to the Manhattan court system, there are a lot of suits around, but this is a lovely place to spend an hour to relax and eat a meal.

Upset that they took down the Medusa & Persius statue. This is only a place to sit now, nothing to attract to this area.
