We have been following the Zooming through Queer Culture online series throughout the past year and it has been an absolute highlight of this difficult period. We have really enjoyed feeling part of a queer community while stuck at home and we learnt A LOT! I honestly feel like I have a much better grasp of queer art as a whole, as well as having discovered many artists I didn't know, and of course discovered things I didn't know about many famous artists! We are so grateful to Andrew, George and the rest of the team for creating this fantastic series and hope it keeps going!

I've taken many of the online tours and found them to be excellent! I have an MA in art education, but I usually learn new things and different interpretations. However... I have only one word of caution- make sure you know who the presenter will be. I've taken 3 online lectures with Edith and will take no more. She's extremely difficult to understand, her slides are unclear, and she makes interpretations without context. Just my opinion, but overall I found Shady Ladies online tours to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

In the midst of the pandemic, it’s nice to have another way to connect with the world at large and Shady Ladies provides education in an entertaining way.

We joined the inaugural run of the new Shady Ladies of the MFA tour in Boston, and it was excellent. The tour leader was very knowledgeable and very entertaining. His presentation was refreshingly personal, compared to the slick and/or pedantic approach you typically encounter, and he was very engaged with the group. The facts and insights about the individual pieces were always interesting and often highly amusing, but taken together they made up an intriguing exploration of the meaning of art in culture, and the rewards of viewing art as part and parcel of human life, rather than an academic phenomenon.

I wasn't able to attend the live event but I watched the recording. Of course, nothing will ever beat actually attending a museum in person! Still, I learned a lot and enjoyed the presentation. I purchased a few more tickets for future virtual events. I absolutely love Art History and am currently working on acquiring a certificate to be an art historian. So yes, this was amazing!

Andrew Lear is charming, humorous and a wealth of knowledge. His Shady Ladies Tour adds an insiders perspective that is a fine blend of credible incite, with just the right dash of "gossip"... very entertaining!

Virtual webinars have been lifesavers for me during the pandemic. I crave insightful and fascinating discussions about history. Shady Ladies Tours have been added to my repertoire. I may not always be available during the live session so the recordings can be reviewed later. I recommend those who love history to sign up for these virtual tours.

I have taken a number of virtual tours through New York Adventures in the last two years. But when it comes to American Art tours, I look for Rena Tobey's name. She's an American Art historian who wants viewers to enjoy the art. Her presentations often ask for the viewer's observation.

I loved "Love in the Louvre". Edith talked about the love interests and romantic couplings behind a number of famous paintings in the Louvre. Her delightful French accent added to the ambience! Now, to return to Paris and see these paintings first hand!

I just took the new Fashion & Beauty tour of the Metropolitan Museum today and all I can say is WOW! I learned so much from just two hours with Professor Lear's insight and expertise on this subject that I'm eager to share what I learned with my friends and family. He is truly impressive and a excellent communicator. It was an education , intriguing, and fun! You really have no idea what you may have overlooked in art museums in the past until you get the full story and details from a knowledgeable, legitimate source like Professor Lear. If you get a chance to go I highly recommend you do. It's a refreshing and interesting way to do something different and new in New York City.

Outstanding Virtual Tours until we are able to travel again safely. Dr. Lear and his colleagues offer a variety of topics for exploration and vicarious experiences. Most recently I was an attendee of The Women of the French Revolution, which Dr. Lear hosted with Edith de Belleville. Excellent.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their online zoom classes! Very educational. Haven't taken one of their tours in person but plan on doing so in the future. In the meantime, will keep buying online classes.

What a wonderful event!! I loved it. Rena Tobey is a gifted lecturer with enormous academic knowledge and a lively and interesting presentation. I loved her method of organizing biography with historical with art information. This is the second time I have “found” her and will be looking for more from Ms Tobey. Thank you! I enjoy the opportunity for touring online. Sincerely, Anndora (Bonnie).

A big drawback to this experience was the lack of keeping to the schedule. Tours generally give no more than a few minutes grace time and then continue without any participants that have neglected to adhere to the posted schedule. My tour had the majority of the group waiting for over 30 minutes for two last minute stragglers…tour started when one appeared and then halted again for another 15 minutes for that person to go search for the other straggler. Once the tour commenced, we were 45 minutes behind which was never made up and to boot the guide terminated our tour 10 minutes AHEAD of the original intended end time. What things did we miss in the 55 minutes lost? As good and informative as Andrew was, his disrespect for the majority of the attendees was an abomination!

Absolutely loved the Met Museum's Shady Ladies delightful tour, "Nasty Women of the Met"! Our very wise, witty, and personable guide, Andrew Lear, transcended the constraints of a virtual tour to make us feel as if we were at the Met with him. A real treat during normal circumstances, his engaging introduction to history's feisty, indomitable, and accomplished women provided a much-needed respite from today's often overwhelming current events. Looking forward to the next tour: "Dressed to Kill."

Very enjoyable, and interesting! Being located near Spokane, WA, the discussion of the layout of the Met Museum didn't add much to the experience, but I thought the selection of art pieces to illustrate Mr. Lear's points were excellent. Hopefully, some day soon we can attend a virtual presentation of the "Shady Ladies" tour!

I love these virtual tours/talks. I discovered them last year (or was it the year before? —- hard to remember which during the pandemic). They have transported me to NYC and Paris and lifted my spirits along the way. I have never been disappointed— smart commentary from hosts who clearly love and appreciate the subject matter featured in each one.

Shady Ladies Zoom Lectures are fun and informative! I learned about champagne "The King of Wines" and the Ladies who raised the throne!

I attended the tour in Philadelphia. Prof. Lear was extremely knowledgeable and his commentary on the art we viewed was informative and quite interesting. He was also funny and very personable. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about women in art through the centuries. So much fun and a great experience! Can’t wait to take another tour at the Met or perhaps Paris!

Very informative and smart without talking down to anyone. Would highly recommend if you like kooky historical tidbits.
