Absolutely stunning. It was only $10 for 30 min to search for my Great Grandfather who I knew well while growing up. I had enough history I was able to do it in the 30 min allowed and the computer system is very easy. They will charge for printouts but you can certainly snap a picture of the screen. So very touching to stand where he stood, to see what he saw, to wonder how he felt, and to appreciate the great freedom I have because of the sacrifice of his family and so many others. So much history and so many lives changed by this place. Fantastic displays and grounds. Plenty of time to wander and learn. There is a gift shop off to the right as you enter with several options for reasonable prices.

Excellent historical US spot, tons of history, exhibits are great. And, you can pay a small fee to access historical records. Great spot to visit after the Statue of Liberty.

Great historical place to visit. The audio tour devices are free, but I would recommend bringing head phones so you don't have to hold it up to your ear the whole time. It accepts a standard 3.5 mm audio jack.

It was a heavily educational experience, walking through the halls that millions passed through before, discovering how people were processed, examined, and either welcomed or deported at the end. There are hundreds of preserved items and areas from the time period, and the building itself is extraordinary.

This was a moving experience for us. The legacy of families of immigrants traveling to this one location to gain entry to the land of their dreams. Amazing stories are told here and the guided tour is worthy of your dollar. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎

Words can not describe the beauty and history of this island. Truly breathe taking. We tried looking up information on our ancestors, and you can pay $10 for 30 mins on the computer to look up your ancestors. Which was really amazing. This was such an amazing experience, and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone in the area. The cost is fairly inexpensive compared to many other activities in the area. I am just speechless.

This place is so full of history that I was a bit emotional during my visit, to be honest. There are a lot of exhibitions and authentic documents of America’s immigration history, it really gives the idea of how things were during last century. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting NYC. Totally worth the time and the money.

I loved my visit to Ellis Island. I learned so much about what immigrants went through coming here to America back then. So many cool exhibits and it was cool to look for names on the walls. Amazing views from the island. Absolutely worth checking it out!

Very nice, lots of photos, history and artifacts. You have to buy tickets at castle Clinton in Battery Park to catch the Statute City Ferry which takes you to the Statute of Liberty and Then Ellis Island

Other than the museum, the rest of the island is not meant to be visited except for the hard hat tour (I didn't do it because I didn't know about it). The view of the city from Ellis Island is as great as Liberty Island ! But there is less people and taking the last ferry isn't at 5 isn't a huge deal because there aren't a lot of people left and you have the whole top deck for you alone !

The tickets are a bit high. There are 2 islands. I buy for Ellis Island only and have to ride to liberty Island, wait more time to dock, load and then ride to Ellis Island... It's and extra 30-45 taken from the early close time. The museum itself is beautifully redeveloped. The guided audio tour (free) is extremely helpful. There's so much history to learn. I just wish there was more time allotted to experience it.

The ferry men were great -curteous, helpful. The ticket sellers people at the TSA screening - not so much. That being said - MORE and better sinage would really be helpful. There were a lot of people waiting in the wrong line, thinking they were in the ticket line, when they were in the TSA line. A lot of frustration and tension could be alleviated if there were better instructions made available. Hire more helpers! Make one of our countries most popular places a bit more attainable and more easily accessible. Also - if you put on the tickets, 'photo id required of each ticket holder', take a minute and ask to see that photo id. We missed our first trip because we didn't have photo id, rescheduled - very nise lady on the phone, then no one asked for the photo id after all. . . . .

Very beautiful architecture. A little more on the boring side, in my opinion. But there was lots to read down on the first floor. There was also a theatre (maybe 2) showing a film about history. Did not get outside much because it was super cold by the water. Overall, a cool place if you like to read about history.

Fantastic and historical museum that does a great job of educating people on the melting pot of people who came to America for a new life and also those who were turned away. Great exhibits add to the experience. A must-see when in NYC .

I loved this experience. I loved getting to see the history of people that immigrated here. It was a very humbling experience. The building was beautifully maintained and I loved how they kept some of the original historic aspects of the building.

Fantastic visit! I've been many times, but they have a new exhibit called "The Journey: New Eras of Immigration" which is incredible! So well done. Everyone should see this place and all it has to offer! It's free to enter both Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty Park & Museum - you just have to buy a ferry ticket through Statue Cruises to get there and back, which is $24.30 for an adult. The ticket takes you to both Ellis & the statue!

Magnificently beautiful architecture is breathtaking the work the math in the head to make an engineer. These buildings are fantastic. They should always be historically kept up. Thank you!

A lot of history on this little piece of land. An amazing experience that I won't forget. Wear good shoes and be prepared. Also, security is like the airports. Check the website to learn what you can and can't bring!

Very nice national park. The boat ride over is great if the weather is good. They have built an immersive experience with the processing, medical, and legal facilities. The flow makes you feel like you are going through the immigration process. The audio tours are free so don't miss out.

If you like to take the time and read all the things, or take advantage of the audio tour, I'm sure you would like this. I personally was a bit bored. History is just is not my favorite thing in life, so this could just be a me problem. BUT, it is cool to be in a place where so many immigrants walked thru.

On one of my visits to New York I paid the obligatory trips to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Sadly it wasn’t possible to ascend to Lady Liberty’s crown (post 9/11) so I was a tad disappointed when I tootled over to Ellis Island. At the time they rented out an audio tour for $10. It was the BEST $10 I spent on my vacation. It was informative. It was atmospheric. It was pretty emotional at times too. Can’t recommend a visit here highly enough 🇬🇧

So much information, great organised museum. There is so much to look at . Used headphones provided by the museum. All marked on each section number to press to listen to the audio . Very organised. Interesting displays to look at . Took the ferry over to the island . Would definitely recommend fitting this in for an interesting visit .Toilets also and a little cafe area on site .

Been to NY twice before but not had a chance to go to Ellis Island before. Glad I was able to this time. I felt immersed in history. Only negative thing was the Audio tour. While it was informative especially in the hall. When it came to some of the exhibits, there was too much time describing the display cases, great if you are visually impaired. But turned it off in the end.

Took a ferry boat ride that was part of a tour. The museum is free as well as walking around the statue. It costs more to take tour of the state itself 25 bucks standard or 60 I believe to go to the top. That's a 45 flights of stairs going up 20 min later 45 going down. The museum is really nice and informative. And the original flame she held is located there for all to see.

Ellis island was nice and full of information, however, everything is so over priced, especially the food, we thought it was kind of confusing and everyone who you asked a question would get a rude response from the staff. The staff at the island and ferri crew, especially the people instructing people to get on or get off the boat are absolutely Rude!! They were so unpleasant and unprofessional several times to everyone. They treat people like cattle, yelling at them, acting like they are doing us a favor. I saw a female staff with the boat crew verbally fighting with a customer bad mouthing everyone. With all the money being made from people on these attractions the staff should at least be courteous. The staff inside the building were falling asleep while working as cashiers, nobody says thank you, and everyone is just rude and look like they hate their job. Our experience would had been a good one if we had not encountered this kind of unprofessional behavior from almost everyone of the staff at that island. We were glad to get out of there quick!!

A very interesting and historical place. I'd highly recommend the hard hat tour of the immigrant hospital. There's some amazing history within each of the wards.

Better make sure you come early. When I heard 45 min I was like not bad. Once you walk in to my surprise it will take longer. They do have a cafe which food is good but be worn the prices are high. Either eat here or wait to get back to main land but will take time so I choose to eat here. Overall price for statute of liberty and Ellis island was 24.30 a person so very decent price.

Very interesting. One sees actual citizenship documents and passports from other countries as well as pictures from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
