We took the Titanic seasonal tour and had the absolute best time. I found the tour to be a perfect combination of history with haunting elements. Our tour guide SJ was an AMAZING storyteller, knew granular detail and made the experience a captivating one. I’m excited to take another tour with Boroughs of the Dead!

Boroughs of the Dead is my favorite tour company period. I've been on a good chunk of their tours and none have ever disappointed me. Their conscientious ethos & feminist POVS are also a welcome shift from what I've generally experienced with most paranormal-centered tour companies. These tours are not about exploiting tragedies and real-life horrors, they are about educating folks about buried histories & overlooked legacies. Boroughs of the Dead has really opened my eyes as a New Yorker to numerous hidden layers of the city, and yes ghosts, who are still speaking out! Also, check out their virtual tours!

During the COVID-19 crisis, Boroughs of the Dead is generously offering virtual tours on Zoom. I have attended 3 of their tours and highly recommend them. The "Edgar Allan Poe in Greenwich Village" tour was my favorite because two tour guides teamed up and each brought their own personality to the tour. Their enthusiasm leaped through the Zoom conference and really gave life and emotion to the tour. To me, "The Magic and Mysticism of Central Park" and "The Ultimate Greenwich Village Ghost Tour" were both fun and informative, but I felt there was less of a personal touch and emotion than the Poe tour. Maybe the material was a bit too dense for me that day. Nevertheless, these tours are highly recommended. I believe I was in the minority of not feeling high emotion, because I read many, many other attendees' praise in the Zoom chat box at the conclusion of the tours. (Maybe I've been on too many Zooms and had a little fatigue.) All the tour guides are extremely well-prepared and happy to interact with guests. It's clear they love giving tours. I sincerely hope to attend an in-person tour the next time I'm in New York City. I'm really glad I found Boroughs of the Dead on Eventbrite. Thank you to Boroughs for providing these virtual tours when we're all stuck in the house. If these topics sound like your bag, don't miss out!!

Had a great date night doing the east village walking tour last night. Edward was a wonderful tour guide, and it was the perfect thing to do around Halloween!

I took the “Weird Tales of the West Village” tour on Saturday with a group of friends, and we LOVED it. Andrea was our tour guide and she did a fantastic job! She had a great presence and was a great guide and storyteller. Her passion for her job and the content was contagious. The stories / topics were extremely interesting and memorable. I highly recommend taking the tours! My friends and I will be taking their other tours in the future.

All the tour guides here are very knowledgeable and deeply invested in, not just the spooky factor, but the actual history and the lives of real people behind their stories. Having attended many in-person tours, as well as their recent virtual tours, I highly recommend their tours in all forms!

I have so far been on 2 tours with this group and have enjoyed both of them. The best of them, in Greenwich Village, was very detailed, with a lot of fascinating tidbits about the area and the famous people who populated it (Anyone who has ever walked by that weird, empty, triangular building in the area will get a kick out of the reason why it remains uninhabited.) There's lots Aleister Crowley, Lovecraft, and Poe, as well as other interesting characters that once inhabited this city and well crafted tales the histories they created. The tour guide wove fact and fiction very well, even taking a few moments to read some specific literature tied to the location we were standing on or near. The two different tour guides were both very friendly and organized, and kept the group moving deftly through the busy streets of their tour routes. I really do recommend taking these tours, not just for some spooky tales, but also for an opportunity to learn another side of the city.

I had a great time on the Boroughs of the Dead tour of Flushing, Queens. I learned a lot and the tour guide shared a few spooky anecdotes about her personal experiences, which I enjoyed, too. I love that they have tours throughout the city, not just in Manhattan. Highly recommended!

My second tour with this company, and I'm eager for more - this one (Haunting Histories and Legends of Astoria) was in my own backyard, and was a real gift! Stories and sights I'd never really engaged with before, including some wonderful old mansions, and new ways to look at blocks I walk down daily. Our tour guide (Marie) was delightfully engaging, honest, and had really great recommendations for further reading. Do not miss these tours, I'm sure to take more to learn more about my home.

This is my favorite New York walking tour group. I've taken two of their tours and been to one of their lectures, and all three were fantastic. The Edgar Allan Poe tour is wonderful, especially for die-hard Poe fans (like me). The tour guides really know what they're talking about and are happy to chat and answer all your questions. If you're looking for a spooky but informative tour of any NYC neighborhood, this is it!

So far, we have taken the Forgotten Dark Histories of Lower Manhattan tour and the Ghosts of West Village tour. SJ was our tour guide for both of the tours and they are AMAZING. We learned so much and SJ is a great storyteller who obviously is incredibly knowledgeable and also enthusiastic about history. Highly recommend Boroughs of the Dead for New Yorkers and tourists alike.

I have done a couple of the virtual tours via Zoom and enjoyed them. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The online tours are great because they can share pictures to illustrate the places and stories, and weather is not a concern. You can see how things looked in the past and enjoy learning about the history and legends of New York.

Yesterday, I went on Ultimate Greenwich Ghost Tour with Adrian as our guide. The tour was fun and Adrian was knowledgeable and took us to some exciting place in the Village. This my third tour with Adrian and so far, she has not disappointed.

I've attended two different virtual tours and both were amazing. The tour guides were excellent, they were experts on their topics and answered all questions asked. I totally recommend it.

I took a virtual tour on Halloween night of Harlem and Upper Manhattan spooky places. The guides were great, very well informed. It was a fun way to learn about a part of the city that I am not very familiar with. Would definitely do another tour with them.

This was a fun virtual tour...great way to spend Halloween this year. I hope to visit NYC for an in- person your one day! Looking forward to more virtual tours until then.

I've enjoyed many in-person tours with this delightful band of storytellers. I've now had the opportunity to take four virtual tours, with guides previously unknown to me, and have loved them all. BOTD's guides are uniformly not just well informed, but passionate about quirky details of history and, of course, about NYC. Their skills translate well to online presentation, with professional slide shows and captivating narrative. I especially enjoyed the Central Park mysticism tour, because I've missed out on it multiple times by foot Highly highly recommended, wherever you are on the planet.

I've been on multiple tours with Boroughs of the Dead. Each and every one of the tour guides is exceptional, knowledgable, charming and fun! You won't regret taking any of their tours. The tour guides are very friendly and make you feel comfortable enough to ask questions and even encourage you to do so. If you're a history buff, they got it. If you love spooky stuff, they got it. If you love walking? You'll love walking with them.

The East Village tour was the first we have been on with Boroughs of the Dead, and it won’t be the last! Silas was a fantastic tour guide and storyteller. It went beyond your typical walking tour and was so engaging!

I've only done virtual tours with BOTD, but they are always interesting and entertaining. These guides really love what they do and it shows. I'm grateful they are continuing with the virtual tours.

😠 Do not use!! We booked a tour & received a confirmation email with place & time to meet. No one ever showed up to give us our tour. There was another group waiting as well.
