Dear people, the company SoBeNY (sobenewyork.com) has scammed us all. They offer accommodation where they rent in if they have enough people booking. Once you book accommodation in SoBeNY Harald Square, "The Blakely New York" charges your credit card, which I guess is also run by SoBeNY. The Harald Square property is no longer offered on Booking.com because the scam has been busted. Remember, you are not alone. Together we will get our rights! It is important that we stick together now. My recommendation: Collect all your correspondence with Booking.com and the accommodation, the booking confirmation, the credit card statement with the charge and the cancellation confirmation. Contact your credit card provider and file a claim/chargeback as soon as possible. Go to SoBeNY Blakely Stays New York and write reviews about the incident. They have already done the same thing there. We can protect others there too. As a US citizen, visit the NYS Attorney General's website (ag.ny.gov) and file a complaint there. As a non-US citizen, we need to email the NYS Attorney General's office. UPDATE: booking.com tries to shift the blame to the customers. Documents every email communication with booking.com. booking.com also deletes all messages sent to SoBeNY. This means that booking.com is trying to cover up their fault. If we don't get our money back in 30 days, we can file a lawsuit against booking.com. Give this post a thumbs up so it can be found quickly.

Pro: Really great price (prepaid). Phenomenal location, neighborhood, food nearby. Views of Empire State and Herald Square. Clean rooms, fairly modern, plenty of space. Cons: Zero services (no housekeeping). Hard to find. Not sure of its real name (confirmation email called it several different things). TV didn't work (we weren't there to watch TV). Toilet ran constantly (closed the door). We stayed Saturday-Thursday and were very happy with the choice.

Just cancelled our room just over a month before our New York wedding. They gave us no explanation and rooms are still being advertised for those dates?! I don’t even think it’s a genuine hotel I think it’s a scam. Don’t book here you’ll just be let down.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Similar to the posts below, they cancelled my reservation and when I emailed to ask for a refund date they stated that booking.com had by mistake cancelled reservations and mine is still on the system 🤨 then why hadn’t I received communication to state otherwise. Payment was also taken from another hotel branch which is dodgy and I don’t understand how booking.com is even advertising for this scam hotel. I am still awaiting my refund, please avoid booking, save your money and the headache!

⚠️ SCAM ALERT! Do not trust this. I booked via Booking.com and 5 days after payment, the booking was cancelled and I am now struggling to be refunded. Don’t even think about giving it a chance!!!

They got me! TOTAL SCAM! Booked through Expedia, they took the money immediately and then the day before I was supposed to check in canceled the reservation. No refund in sight and Expedia won't take any responsibility. AVOID!!!!

SCAM!!! Received an email 12 hours before we were supposed to fly out. They switched us from an apartment to a crummy hotel that I could have booked for $100 a night. Booking.com can't give me answers, and I can't reach ANYONE live at the company for an explanation. Now fighting with Booking.com and my credit card company to get my money back. AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you have money to burn.

I booked my stay via Booking.com and paid in advance (in May 2021). Had to cancel it due to Covid19 travel restrictions in October 2021. They promised to refund me but it is March 2022 and I'm still waiting for it. They are impossible to contact and Booking.com isn't very helpful either...

I made a reservation about 4 weeks in advance. 3 days before my arrival the hotel cancelled my reservation with a fake excuse of "covid19" issues (right now there are no more restrictions in NY for covid). Meanwhile I see the hotel is still available online for new reservations for the exact same dates!!! What a scam!!!!!!!!! Now I had to pay for a new hotel 3 times more because its very close to my arrival date. Im beyond angry! I see many similar reviews to mine. Don't book this place!!!!

Its a decent hotel. No issues with the room. Although the windows were filthy. Service is non existent so very much self service. Would stay again as its cheap.

Es un robo. It's a scam. I paid for a stay in May 2022. They cancelled one month before without any explanation. There is no way to contact them. No refund has been made to my account.
