I'm
a
29-year
old
man
and
I
had
been
hit
pretty
severely
by
the
flu,
with
a
high
fever,
multiple
nights
of
delirium/hallucinations,
and
light-headedness.
When
I
went
in,
the
nurses
and
supporting
staff
were
beyond
lovely
and
emphathetic
towards
my
plight
and
helped
me
register
and
rest
while
waiting
for
the
doctor.
The
doctor
however
was
extremely
condescending
and
dismissive
of
my
condition.
By
way
of
example:
(a)
When
I
asked
if
it
would
help
to
have
ventilation
in
my
room
by
opening
by
windows,
he
responded
"who
told
you
that?"
(b)
When
I
explained
how
bad
my
conditions
were,
he
snarkily
asked
"You're
29
years
old
right?"
(c)
He
repeatedly
mentioned
how
common
the
influenza
wave
was
to
downplay
its
effect
on
me
(d)
He
prescribed
antivirals
but
nothing
for
my
other
conditions
(e)
Audaciously,
on
the
antivirals,
he
directed
me
to
go
to
a
pharmacy
6
blocks
away.
When
I
reached
the
pharmacy
in
my
feverish
and
light-headed
state,
they
told
me
they
were
out
of
stock.
When
I
returned
to
CityMD,
the
doctor
had
the
gall
to
tell
me
to
go
home
and,
in
my
condition,
call
as
many
pharmacies
as
possible
and
see
who
has
the
antivirals
in
stock.
When
I
asked
if
he
could
help
or
if
the
clinic
had
the
medications
in
stock,
he
simply
responded
"of
course
not.
it's
a
controlled
medication".
Point
(e)
was
particularly
damning
and
I'm
grateful
to
one
of
the
staff
who
helped
me
call
around
to
pharmacies.
Unfortunately
(and
I
don't
blame
the
staff
member
because
he
was
very
sweet
and
helpful,
but
the
doctor
for
the
way
in
which
he
prescribed
this):
(a)
the
pharmacy
I
was
referred
to
was
Alto
which
said
they
could
only
deliver
the
medication
one
week
after;
and
(b)
the
Duane
Reade
opposite
CityMD
offered
the
same
medication
and
had
it
stocked
--
which
I
learnt
because
I
ended
up
going
to
the
opposite
Urgent
Care
after
my
disastrous
CityMD
visit.
If
I
hadn't
spent
$30
at
Urgent
Care,
I
would
still
be
stuck
with
delirium.
This
doctor
was
atrociously
unprofessional
and
rude
and
I
have
every
intention
of
seeking
redress
on
this.
To
reiterate
however,
the
conduct
of
the
nursing
and
support
staff
were
unimpeachable
(they
are
way
too
good
to
be
working
there).
