One of the best Pet stores in the Hudson Valley. They have live fish (freshwater & saltwater), reptiles, rabbits, and other small animals. I used to have a Chameleon that I bought from Petco. For anyone whose never owned a reptile they are one of the hardest to maintain. I would go to Petco once every other week to buy live crickets so my Chameleon could eat. They always had fresh restocked crickets so my reptile never got bad food. All the equipment I needed for my Chameleon I was able to purchase at Petco. The prices on there products are average all depending on what you get. The staff here is awesome and they take care of the animals well. They also are very knowledgeable on everything you would need to purchase to make sure you don’t leave the store forgetting to get something. I was also impressed by how clean the store was especially during this Pandemic.

This is a great store and I was able to find the dog food I was looking for relatively easily. I am going to be a new dog owner soon and this store had a lot of d food, toys, supplies and other items I will need to raise her. The store was very clean and organized and staff were helpful.

Called the grooming salon and had a guy pick up the phone who was extremely rude and short with me for no reason. I asked if we had to make an appointment for a nail trim and he nastily responded “no just walk in at any time and we’ll do it” and then he hung up. So we go to walk in with our dog only to be turned away because the front desk lady said we needed paperwork for proof of rabies shots. Why did this dude tell me that we could just walk in at any time and fail to mention we needed paperwork? Unprofessional bad employees in petco. Will not be coming back

It's not hard to see why stores like this are suffering and people turn to amazon and chewy. They have bad service, bad selection, and bad prices. There's no redeeming qualities. I got terrible service here today, It's like getting teeth pulled to get fish and you get an attitude from anyone you ask. It's like they don't want to sell fish, they're only there to look at. Which is why they just stare at you in the fish area but won't ever acknowledge you. The pet beds are just thrown on the shelf with no prices, then when you bring one to find a price you cringe and decide to look on amazon. The tall guy and Ruby in the fish area are both rude. As a store manager of a big business I know how to treat customers and management here doesn't care how their staff acts. I will voice to all my customers how bad this store and will not return

Clean Friendly staff Fun with the little one-- viewed the gerbels, snakes, geckos, fish and petted the cats. - customers need to be asked to place their dogs on a short leash; just because you love them... doesn't mean I have to

We were sold dead moss balls for our betta. We unfortunately went into the store on a whim with no knowledge. After returning home and doing some research 1. They should not be selling these, they are now banned (the live ones) 2. It was dead! See photo. It could have killed our new betta. The best part, the man from the fish department checked us out! They should be green and lush. Not like This photo. I’m not sure what happened to this store, the customer service is the absolute worst, there is never enough staff and then this whole debacle. I will never return to this store again.

Needed to get my new puppy up to date with inoculations and my vet was out of town - The folks at Petco were kind and we went in and out in record time. I couldn't replace my normal vet, as there couldn't be the kind of personal relationship one gets in an office setting, but for emergency-type visits I will definitely come back.

Excellent care and grooming experience at this location. I took my toy poodle to many groomers around the area and NONE of them know what they are doing. Some of the places I have visited are super dirty, that’s another reason why I’m glad I tried Petco because it has been a very positive experience with them so far. One of the more robust aquarium sections I have seen in a petco. Large variety of species available, above average selection of plants and live corals. Prices are all over the place though so do some research beforehand if budget is a concern. Some species are priced at what pristine specimens should go for, despite being mid grade from a serious hobbyist standpoint. Getting service took longer than finding what I went in for. Would have given it 3 stars, but the sheer quantity of species available was impressive for a chain pet store.

Very friendly and professional. An associate helped me find the right food for my dog who has a very sensitive stomach. Due to the high prices of dog food, I want to be sure I am not wasting my money while also making sure my dog has the best possible food for her situation, so I really appreciated the advice and attention.

I'm here all the time. The staff is super friendly and informative. A lot of quality items at fair prices. The animals are healthy and well taken care of. One star removed for them having the open sign still on and the doors open and an employee walking right by me not saying anything then eventually being told by someone they were closed. That lady coulda told me 🤦🏻‍♀️

I bought my Guinea pig 40 days ago after 2 weeks I told them he’s acting sick and they said he was fine for today he passed away I told them he wouldn’t eat ANY TYPE OF FOOD AND WOULDNT TOUCH HIS WATER I spent so much money trying to get him better for him to die in my hands this morning I’m sobbing I feel in love with my pet and now he’s gone because they sold a sick animal and refused to acknowledge him being ill I’ll never shop here again. I’m Devastated right now

Walked into the Poughkeepsie location today to return a few things I purchased for my bunny last month. Didn’t have an issue until I pulled out my debit card to get a refund and the cashier explained I missed the 30 day return window by 3 days I’m like are you kidding me my RABBIT DIED! Not to mention the items were NEVER opened and I had the original receipt!! Who plans for their beloved pet to die!? NO ONE. I’m DISGUSTED the way I was treated today! I won’t be stopping here, corporate will also be notified along with the better business bureau.

Worst experience This was my first experience getting vaccinations and after waiting over 20 minutes, the check in lady was rude to every single person she was so nasty! She told me my car could not get his 3 year rabies that they don’t do that. I said fine I’ll get one year but what is the time frame for him to get it next year. She said the exact same day. I said you won’t be open that day as it won’t be on a Sunday. So how many days ahead can I bring him. She said none. She took me back and bad talked me to the vaccination staff. I said excuse me none of that is true. I just want to know within what time frame he needs to come back. She then said excuse me I’m not talking to you. Once she went back to her post and my cat had his shots I asked him the same question and he answered me. I asked so in 1 year correct. He said no, 3 years. The checkin lady HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE TOLD ME AND WAS INCORRECT then was rude to me! NEVER AGAIN! I was also told over the phone when the appointment was made that they listen to their heart and lungs when they get the vaccines. That was not done so I asked them to, and they said that my cats heart sounded good and I said how was his lungs cause he’s been breathing heavily they said he probably is prediabetic. They didn’t examine him or anything, and was diagnosing him. On top of that because the way the animals in the carrier his pounds were way more on his sheets than what he actually wants. This is a horrible place to go.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I am a real animal lover and wanted to do something special for the cats up for adoption, it was a real treat to be able to help in even a small way. I love Petco and their willingness to help get animals adopted from small shelters. It makes a huge difference in their lives and makes all of our lives happier! Thank you to both the adoption organization and Petco for doing an amazing job.

Petco has the best selection of dog clothing. They also have a wide selection of food, toys and necessities. We were pleased with the store and the ease of check-out. The staff are friendly too!

The staff at this location are extremely polite and knowledgeable. We bought 2 bearded dragons from them, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. My wife and I now go there at last twice a week to get crickets for the dragons, and everyone there is super helpful.

Staff is always exceptionally helpful here. You have to stop in and get pet gifts here because there are adorable presents a plenty. So many varieties of food. They also offer grooming services and pet training.

I bought a bag of prescription dog food from Petco online. They sent me the vegetarian version instead of the chicken version. I brought the bag back to the Petco store and the manager told me that I could not return it. She said that it could not be taken back because it was a prescription dog food….. kind of like a human prescription.I phoned customer service at Petco and explained the situation to them. I explained that the manager refused to take the dog food back. They told me no problem in taking the dog food back and they gave me a refund. They didn't require me to send the dog food back to them either. The only thing they asked was that since it's a prescription dog food to not donate it, but to discard it so another animal doesn't get sick.

This is an excellent Petco location!! Very fast and professional! I've come here for fish supplies for my grandmother and bunny supplies for my Pet Bunny. They had everything I needed for both. They have an excellent selection of both fish supplies and bunny supplies. My grandmother also comes here to get stuff for her dog and even gets her groomed here! This is her favorite place to go to get her groomed!! We love Petco!!! 👍😊😃

I bought a dwarf hamster here about a month and a half ago, and she bonded with me right away. The employees who take care of these small animals must be remarkable, because she’s not scared of humans at all. I’ve had several dwarf hamsters, and it usually takes months for them to trust their owners. She’s very sweet, and I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase.
