Very poor service, now been waiting 2 weeks for a tax invoice and after multiple phone calls still haven't received it.

Worst customer service. Almost $700 deducted from my bank account for a stone chip on windscreen, without informing me, despite taking excess reduction, since their zero excess option wasn’t available online. Never booking it again. Ever!

Awful customer service. I asked if I could return a car later than I had arranged and what would be the extra charge if I did. Lady at the counter told me no extra charge as had already paid for an extra day. Then I got charged another $35 today that I didn’t authorise or know about. When I rang Gisborne Airport to enquire what the charge was for, the owner told me I returned the car late and that the lady at the counter never said that. Wow! As I said to her I would have returned the car at the correct time had I known there would be an extra charge. Will never use Budget again, especially at Gisborne Airport. No customer service whatsoever. This is your 6th 1 star review Budget, surely this tells you something about your Gisborne franchise.

Would give zero stars if I could. Worst Customer service experience I have ever had in New Zealand. No one at counter in airport despite arriving right as scheduled within office hours. We followed the instructions written on the sign on the counter to head to the office at their car lot outside. No one there. Tried phoning, no answer. Phoned the toll free number, still no joy. Waited around for 45 minutes. My husband went back to the desk inside the airport where he got told that we were late! The service person's boyfriend called him a c**t and wanted to assault him. Servicw person claimed she had been there all along and we never came up to the desk Both parties had been drinking. Avis and Budget is under the same umbrella, try to use somebody else if you can!

As others have stated, terrible customer service and charging you for stuff without informing you. I phoned in for an unknown $202 charge from them. The woman told me it was to fill up the car, which is fair enough. I said a heads up would be nice to which she sarcastically and quite snarkly replied: "Did you think you wouldn't need to pay for the fuel you used". Being the first time I used a car rental service I assumed the final fuel cost would be included in the price. Nobody told me and nowhere was this explained. I have no problem with paying for the fuel but would have liked to know the charge was incoming and didn't appreciate being treated like an idiot (even if I might have been one in that moment). Spend your money elsewhere.
