Excellent way to start 2024 - my daughter had a surf lesson this morning with Brayden from Salt Spray Surf School. It’s become an annual surfing lesson, we just keep coming back because it’s such a consistently cool experience. Brayden was the perfect instructor! My daughter had an amazing time - excellent conditions! She was standing up and catching lots of waves. What a great little business with fantastic instructors. Ollie, Brayden and the whole team are friendly, positive, knowledgeable: this is a Must Do if you’re in Ohope or within reasonable driving distance. Surf school is at the end of West End road - maybe the most beautiful corner of beach in NZ. Oh and there’s coffee and cookies right there when you get out of the surf which is a bonus. Certificates and local discounts too on completion. 100 percent recommend!

Our kids did a lesson with Ollie yesterday and they both rave about it - here's what they have to say about it: Wolf: I really liked the lesson because it was easy and fun - Ollie whistles encouragement which makes me smile - thanks Ollie! Snow: This was the first time I tried surfing and Ollie made it fun and exciting, I could stand up on the board and ride the waves. Hang ten dudes!

We had an awesome experience at our surf lesson. Ollie and his crew are passionate about what they do and the ocean and are the right mix of chilled and attentive when we needed it. A beginners learn to surf lesson was the perfect Christmas gift for the family this year as we holiday at Ohope beach are all keen beginner surfers. Sol made us feel very comfortable with the right mix of humour, knowledge and skill right from the start. These guys are passionate about the ocean, surfing, Ohope and the environment. While you’re not guaranteed to make it to standing position on the board we all did so. Five stars from us, thank you Sol and the Salt Spray crew. An awesome experience.

Amazing experience!, really enjoyed learning how to surf. Got great instruction, feedback and enjoyed the time with all the staff. Ollie runs a tight ship, good safety protocols and instruction. Definately recomended

Surfing with Ollie and Alyssa was so much fun!! The Teaching was extensive and funny and on the water they helped all the way until we could stand up on the board. Many thanks for an incredible day at ohope beach :))
