Sandwiches are fresh and tasty, you can really taste each element of the dish and they’re all really good. The portions are really generous too, I think a half sandwich is more than enough to feed one with decent appetite. However, given it’s popularity, it’s a bit of a long wait (45 mins), but the staff would ask you to go walk around the town and come back later, which is nice. Do check it out if you’re in Hokitika as it is the most famous place in this small town.

Highly recommended!! After reading all the positive reviews here and this place still surprised me! We had the most delicious sandwiches here. Excellent service and the bottomless coffee is just perfect!!!

A tasty sandwich in hokitika. Visited when travelled from greymouth to Arthur pass. A nice place to stop by, highly recommended. The staff are friendly and excellent customer service.

This is a very unique place indeed. Joseph the owner has knowledge to burn. The atmosphere is great and options in sandwiches to burn as well. Can eat in or take away. Don’t ask for a expresso or Flat white as they have filter coffee only but coffee that is changed weekly and is from different places from around the world, but is made in nz. Look at the photos especially the Real Food black board that explains everything about this place.

Great food! Great service! Easily the best place in town. The food was spot on and so fresh, the cheese! I could eat a block of that by itself 🤤Staff was onto it, personable and it was an overall brilliant experience 🤙 100% must do while in town.

I highly recommend stopping by to try their sandwiches! We arrived 10 minutes before they opened and they told us we could wait inside while they finished preparing everything. The food is delicious and with fresh ingredients. And for my part, thank you for trying to communicate in Spanish, understanding that my English is not the best! Graciass 😊

Best sandwich I've had in NZ. Had a veggie half thinking I'd eat it and move on. It was so good that I had to have another half. Chose the med special, also amazing. Highly recommend. Staff were lovely too.

We were super excited to get to Hokitika, and this was largely because of the rave reviews of this sandwich shop! We arrived right before it closed, and they were out of some of the needed ingredients for their vegetarian sandwich. Without pause, the owner asked us if we'd be ok with him just "making something up" for us. We 100% were, and it was 100% delicious! He turned a major bummer of a moment (no more veggie sandwiches) into a super awesome and tasty experience. We spent 2 weeks driving around the south island of New Zealand, and these were by far the best sandwiches we had. Big too!

What a sangich as we say in Ireland. Filled with ingredients. Was only able to finish half the sandwich. Had to take the other home. I arrived there right as they were closing so only had two sandwiches left. I told him surprise me. He brought me out the beef one. Really tastey and good food. Definitely would recommend after driving from Christchurch or in the way there from franz Joseph to do you for the drive. Good work guys.

Great and big portion. We should have just ordered 1.5 for both of us. The ambience is nice. Could feel the staff are working happily. Super friendly and polite. We ordered one full fish and one full new yorker. Happy with the quality. Oh, usually when ordering they will say 15-20 mins wait time is required.

Amazing lil shop with great customer service and food. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful! The sandwichs are extremely delicious, and well worth the trip. Highly recommend stopping by and grabbing some food here, you wont regret it! They sell out so make sure you get there early if possible!

Highly recommended I had previously enjoyed Hokitika Sandwich Company’s sandwich at Christchurch but this was the first time at Hokitika! We pre-ordered 2 x half vegetarian sandwiches on-line; and reached in time for the same. The sandwiches were served quickly. They were as delicious as I remembered. Being lunchtime on a Friday, the place was busy. The wait time was about 45 minutes. I was glad I ordered ahead of the visit, which is also my recommendation!

I live on the Coast and so often we hear stories of economic doom and gloom. The Hokitika Sandwich Company is a shining light and for me, a compulsory stop on every trip to Hokitika. Amazing sandwiches and great service; it's a simple formula and they pull it off with panache. Keep up the great work.

I had to check this place out given the awesome reviews it had, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. I got talked into having The New Yorker, by Bean (a staff member) notwithstanding that it contained sauerkraut, which I usually avoid. However, the sandwich was spectacularly good - and was washed down with their bottomless coffee. A most pleasant and satisfying lunch adventure! Thanks Bean, and thanks Hokitika Sandwich Company. I'll be back!! :-)

Best sandwiches. So good we returned the next day to get more to take on the train home with us. The Fish is our fave, closely followed by The Coaster. Delicious & clearly made by people who care, these sandwiches best any chain store & most cafes. Lovely people & yummy milk shakes - just make sure you have time to wait or phone your order in…food such as this takes time to prepare and is well worth it.

This is the greatest sandwich shop to ever grace the planet. Some people don't like sandwiches, those people are wrong. The bread is delightful, light yet full flavoured, soft and yet sturdy enough to support the plentiful collection of delightful fillings within. The sauce, perfectly matched to the selection of cold cuts and salads within beautifully complimented without overpowering. You may think a full sandwich is an expensive venture, a half alone could feed an army, worth every gold piece. The coffee is bottomless, sugar and milk at your own behest. A large selection of sodas and fruit drinks available for those less addicted to caffeine. To top it all off the staff were friendly, chatty, jovial, and attentive. We arrived a half hour before close and they still served our 10 strong party with cheerful smiles. 11/10.

Great sandwich. A little big for 1 person I thought but maybe hungry lunch kiwi would not think so. Had the NY Ruben twise now and no different. Got consistent sandwich.
