I am a regular client of Spotlight and have never had any issues with returns or products in the past. I purchased two crockery sets over 28 days ago and they were extremely rude and negative about returning them. Apparently it is clearly stated on the receipt that you have 28 days to return them. So after your purchase you are informed of this strict and inappropriate rule that none of the opposition companies makes you adhere to. My whole family have had Covid and I have been head down trying to cope with caring for a sick family in isolation for almost a month. When I told them this they didn't care and simply told me we weren't in an official lock-down. The Manager went out of his way to chastise and try to make me feel ashamed by not meeting my 28 return policy on the receipt. I am disgusted by the behavior of the store and the lack of understanding they have. Not only will I never shop at Spotlight again, I will go out of my way to tell people about my experience. A lot of mature people shop at Spotlight and I would hate to think they are put through the same shaming for following the law. In the end he refunded me but only when I said I would go to another store. This just tells me he could have refunded me the whole time but wanted to make an example of me in-front of his staff and clients.

Big shop with good range of collection but customer service really depends on your luck. Mix of excellent and rude/frustrated staff. Still go there as I love their range of collections. If you go there with minimum customer service expectations, you'd come out as a happy customer.

Very rude customer service at check out. No friendly gesture at all and you have to wait there as if you were waiting for free stuff out of the staff's kindness. Wont return here.

Store itself is decent with a variety of choices but man their customer service is terrible! I mean, what kind of shopping assistant snaps and shouts at kids? The elderly lady with short haircut did not just do that but half the time there she was also ignoring us while talking to another customer, laughing as if having some sort of insiders tea party. Would recommend if you wanna feel humiliated and slighted.

Terrible customer service in fabric section. Not helpful at all. Just basic manners would be good. Seriously why be in retail if you struggle with this?? It was disappointing because I have been to some other great spotlight stores with excellent staff.

Products are great as usual, but the staff in this store were not very helpful or friendly. Acknowledging your customers and maybe even a smile goes a long way.

Now this is a cool spot light.....heaps and heaps things in this spot light..worth a visit if in Manukau

Very disappointed with the online service. We had ordered an item to be delivered to a certain level in our building yet when completing the order, they removed the level of where our order will need to be delivered too. Majority of the these items would be claimed by others and get lost when delivered to the wrong floor. I had emailed the customer service desk immediately after purchase to make them aware of this issue and to please change the address and they replied with "no you will have to contact the courier company". I had emailed back with photo and written proof of the error on their end and for them to please contact the courier company themselves and they still replied with 'no'. Terrible customer service. Slow replies to my emails. No help. Would not order here again. Sucks that there is no other better fast retail chains out there.

Wanted a quote from Spotlight to custom make curtains for me. Tried to ring 0800 number three times to book a time, on all occasions, you could only leave a message. They don't ring you back the same day, it can be a matter of days. After playing telephone tag with them I have given up. Poor customer service, put a person on the end of your phone! They have lost me as a customer.

Very helpful staff. Just ask and you will be fine. I came here to find materials needed to build a couch. Made cushion and seat coverings. Kids love it

Got a bit away with shopping as there is a lot to see, unfortunately I was charged $65 for parking too long. I will never shop at spotlight again. Just another way of revenue gathering. Scammers

Store is coll, helpful staff and they always have what I'm looking for. The parking is an absolute scam though. Be advised that there's a fee to pay if you park for an extended period.

Its a good shop. You get everything specially for your curtains. Best curtains. The only thing is you wont get much help if you are new to Diy and sometime the wait is too long on the counter. But best for buting cheap and good material.

Such lovely ladies behind the counters. Great customer service, a bit slow but it was a bit busy at the time I visited for my Click and Collect order, so that was understandable. Will be visiting again :)

I was looking for a black coloured cloth that I could use as a table cloth for my 6 feet folding picnic table. One senior staff member guided me rightly to find the cloth (the other staff members said that they have no such cloth)…the senior lady was well experienced and could find such a cloth that was over 2 meter wide…I got a 3 meter length…my learning - seniors are seniors.

Massive sale on and fully stocked, not a bad place to score a bargain, plenty of parking, wheelchair access.

Long term customer; has it's moments where if you find a project cheaper in store they can be hit and miss on honoring it but do acknowledge price matching to other stores close by. Not pram friendly though due to limited space to move around in.

Customer service is very disappointing. Greeting and welcoming customers makes customers feel special. Ignoring customers makes me feel annoyed. A simple hi would you like help. A great gesture.

Great products with excellent quality however not so friendly service from some in drapery and fabrics department. When asked questions they look like you’re being an inconvenience to them and seem very grumpy. Ladies at checkout however are nice and friendly.

Visiting your store is always a plus… parking can be a little challenging at times… I’ve been coming to this place for over a long period of time and usually go and have a look at the shops in the same vicinity…. and eat at Kreem often I’ve never had a problem with parking except for earlier this week. I have received an email of a ticket issued to me for parking over the given time limit… I didn’t even know there was a time limit … I believed it was free parking … a $65 ticket is not free parking….. Any chance we get free parking for using the facilities and spending a bit of money at the shops there?

The linen shelves were not very well stocked. But I got great service from a staff member. She exhausted all possiblities to help me find the product I needed.

5 star rating for your absolute STAR staff member Faye. I was awe struck by the exceptional service I received from her. Friendly, yet courteous, expert recommendations, product knowlege, and most importantly a genuine desire to help. 3 stars for the store's rather lukewarm choice of colours in drapes, and an argumentative staff member who insisted that blockout curtains and thermal are the same! Please, train your staff in product knowledge and manners. Thank you, Faye! You are amazing! :)

Mum needed some bits and pieces from here so we called in. Helpful staff and even though there's so much stuff in there, the place is clean and tidy. Mum was after 4ply knitting wool, and they have a huge selection of this sort of thing, plus much more!!!

Wonderfull, used my Spotlight membership to by a $800 sewing machine for $500, couldn't be more inpressed.

Love the staff here, OMG they're so helpful. I've only met one troll that works there but I won't let her ruin my Spotlight experience. Everything in this store speaks to me lol. Huge Spotlight fan

there's one old, miserable white cranky lady who works there who takes her job way too seriously. i was walking around one of the crafting aisles, with a drink in my hand that had a lid on. i was literally just holding it and walking around, she then growls me off quite loudly saying that "you aren't allowed drinks in here, there's a sign for it." i wasn't stopped by anyone else previously before that. she then proceeded to pull out a chair to watch me like a hawk. felt very uncomfortable. just keep an eye out for her. she's got short grey hair, glasses and is clearly just very miserable and angry at the world. everyone else was pretty chill tho. just her lol

I have exactly the same complaint as Lily Nathan below. The staff in fabric are rude - the lady did not want to reply to me when I asked a question and didn't answer me when I said thank you. Purposely giving me the cold shoulder. This is the second time this has happened in the same fabric area. I don't think I deserve to be treated this way when I am being nice and polite to you - didn't appreciate the way I was treated and felt like I was hated by this person.

Most of the staff are eager to help. That's good to be pointed in the right direction faster. Not a fan of the curtain hardware range being weaker than i thought, but the curtains themselves are fair quality.

Lots of stuff for home decorating, parties and fashion etc, something you might have never thought you would some day be able to see the materials and make it yourself. Just a bit too goods on display and not much room left for people to move around

My first time ordering online from Spotlight Manukau. Very poor online delivery service experienced. My order was forgotten about and not actioned until I chased up via their online contact form. Had I not done this Id hate to think how long it would have taken. It took 2 days before I received a very brief response to my enquiry and the message did not answer my queries specifically. I then receive a notification that they received my order on 12th Jan when I actually placed it on the 7th Jan. I then received another notification to say order has been despatched but in actual fact the tracker advised order still being packed. This took 2 days. Then I received another notification advising order has been despatched and has since been at the courier depot for 2 days. So if you are ordering online and expect to receive in 2 days as they mention from time of ordering, double check on that. By the time I receive my package it will have taken 9 days all up from time of ordering. Manukau branch slipped up on this order and wont admit to their poor service. The most frustrating part, no phone number to call them. the issue could have been fixed straight away if I had a customer service no to call. Not a good system in my view. Buyer beware if buying online. Frustrated consumer 😞

Always friendly staff and this is like a one stop shop that has got almost everything you need. The only down side it that they are expensive, so you need to buy what is on special otherwise you pay to much.

Went in for candle wicks to make my own candles ended up with an awesome array of candles instead.... ok and a bunch of other wonderful crafty things!

Not from Auckland but needed balloons with helium. Was amazed by how easy it was to pick out what you wanted and they fill them for you. Excellent service.

Awesome staff in the curtain section, great prices for everything pretty much. We got to the store during a 40% off sale which was great, saved us some more money. Always shop here for curtain nettings. Lol
