Beautiful place. Takes a while to walk down to the beach and it’s mostly a downhill walk. Upon getting there, there’s a nice stone tunnel to bring you to the actual sea/beach. Be warned that the trip down is easy but the journey back will be quite a challenge. I’d say it takes 15 mins to go down and 45 mins to get back up. Go during Low tide for best results. High tide is just scary with winds and waves and unfortunately, that’s when we were there.

We checked the tides and timed it when it was low. This meant we could get down the tunnel and onto the beach. Definitely worth getting down there as the cliff faces are awesome. As mentioned in previous reviews, wear comfy footwear and it's a steep walk back up. Fortunately lots of places to stop and take in the views.

Gorgeous beach - would recommend going at or just before low tide. Very steep down and very very steep on the way up - would recommend proper walking shoes and take water. Allow 20 mins down and at least 30 Mins back up the hill which was very steep on way back

Great walk to do if you're around Dunedin. It's a bit of a steep walk down to reach the beach and the walk back up can be a bit tiring, but absolutely worth it! Try going during low tide so you can walk into the cave on the right hand side of the beach.

Stunning beach in Dunedin to visit. You have to stop your car at the public car park on the top of the hill and go down on the steep walking track about 500m I reckon. Once you go down you can see the amazing tunnel and the waves. It is feeling really nice once you reached to the top of the tunnel. The site has a small tunnel with steps to go down to the beach. It is a site where sea lions stays but I haven’t seen any. This is a very cool place to visit with your family. A walk to remember.

We definitely should have worn better shoes for this walk, beautiful views but winds were a bit gusty and it was hard to get a firm grip on the steep pebbly track. We'll be better prepared next time 😉

Lovely beach, hiking shoes recommended it can be slippery, going down is easy, but not coming back up 😩 it was high tide when we got there 😩

WOW, great views and rock formations were amazing. The walk is not for the faint-hearted. Reasonable fitness required but well worth the effort.

Awesome views on the way down as well as from the beach. The climb up is pretty steep and can take atleast 15 to 30 minutes depending on your fitness. The steps in the tunnel is easy to manage (watch out when wet). We did not check on tides etc as it is still possible to view the beach from up without using the tunnel.

The view is amazing with the unique beach rock formations. Definitely worth the energy and time spent here. The tunnel walk is quite a new experience and good photo location. The slope down the beach is really very steep, certain parts the incline is around 30-40 degrees, can be quite tiring for the way up.

Challenging walk, gets your heart pumping! Beautiful place. Beautiful views. It’s very steep and you need good shoes too.

Hiking shoes recommended. Downhill walk to beach can be tricky but uphill return trip definitely a little arduous if you're out of shape. Great views from the headland even if you don't go down the tunnel.

Stunning view to South Pacific Ocean. It’s a total of 2km return walk on almost 100% downhill & uphill (the way back). I think it worths it! 😅

Nice place to visit! The walk down was easy but going back up was a bit of a challenge. If you struggle to walk up hill then this place isn't for you.

Amazing views and interesting history. Going down is easy but a good few stops for a break on the return trip back to the car park.

I really liked it here, some fantastic scenery and great cliffs and tors. We went at low tide so we could do the tunnel and check out the cave which was nice. Parking was ok as we went off season and they are also building a new parking lot which will make parking easier. It’s a bit of a steep walk out but it’s not too like and you can stop and appreciate the scenery periodically
