First beach I visited in Dunedin. What a stunner it was. Easy drive to with somewhat limited parking. You can drive on to the beach if you want. Saw a few surfers out so the surf must be ok. Walked for 30mins along this beach. It is a grew at dogs off leash beach! Go at sunset if you can!

It’s a good place to come and unwind, listen to music inside the car or outside while having a long walk across the beach and having time for myself to do some journal writing and sketches. And it’s good to see other people doing their own things as well, like walking their dog or enjoying their family time with their children or couples just enjoying their relaxing time as well.

This is one of the sandy beaches in Dunedin. Local people usually visit these beach for a morning and evening walk. This beach is worth visiting, if you are in a long holiday in Dunedin.

So glad the parking area has been upgraded and given the care it deserves.

Visited Tomahawk Beach in 2018 having seen Lloyds bank advert in the UK which features black horses running through the surf. Super beach - no sign of the horses!

Beautiful Sand beach and amazing walks around the shore strip lines Stunning views WoW What a Beauty ... Would be good to ban Cars, Vans and caravans that comes on the Sand and drive up close to the water In summer bring togs for dunking and swimming in the waters or if into surfing a great place for professionals board surfers The waves can be strong and wild here Absolutely Great :) Tomahawk Beach is surely One of the Gem of Dunedin among many more!

Mostly for dog walking but a great beach to have a brisk walk on a long stretch and just appreciate the surroundings. Great to visit when it's low tide to have an even better acces to other parts of the beach that's normally inaccessible due to high tide.

Great place to walk the dog. Just keep an eye out for sea lions.
