Bunnings Warehouse is part of 'The Hub' in Whakatane. It's a D.I.Y., garden & hardware store and is fairly extensive. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Their garden center has a lot of variety and mostly good value. Both normal trolleys and flat trolleys for large items are available. They have a fair bit of variety within items also e.g. 3-4 different types/brands of bark, different types of solar garden lights ranging from super-cheap to reasonably upmarket.

This review is specifically related to the Bunnings Subsidiary company - LOAD&GO (hire vehicles) available at Bunnings stores. A WORD OF WARNING…. I rented a van from Load&Go at Bunnings Whakatane beginning September 2023.Upon hiring I paid the extra fee I was advised to pay by the helpful staff to reduce my excess to $750 and signed the document (albeit without reading it in detail). While in my possession i added a minor dent to the vehicle (my fault) and while I was fully expecting to pay the whole reduced excess for this misdemeanor - upon returning the vehicle I got charged with an extra $2000 charge (on top of the excess) for it being a single vehicle accident!! The lovely and helpful staff at Bunnings were completely shocked too, they did everything they could to help me get around this (no complaints about them). Whilst it was written in the terms of the contract, I had not noticed it (because its such an unusual charge) and because I had been advised my bond was fully reduced as a result of the extra fee I paid. I was informed I wasn’t able to leave the store until I paid the $2750 otherwise I would be liable for the full excess of $6,500. You can imagine how stressful this was. LOAD&GO need to address this issue and improve customer transparency and communication, as well as training to their Bunnings reps to avoid more people getting this kind of shock. I should have been informed of this extremely UNUSUAL & UNEXPECTED clause! (and if I'd known about it - I WOULD Not have hired the van at all - as it would be too risky) I’m now $2750 out of pocket for a 2 day hire where I scrapped a small panel that did no damage to the functionality of the van. #CarRental #CustomerRights #UnusualCharges

bunnings has nearly everything you need! sometimes I just come here and walk around and end up buying something handy. great house plant selection too. I do deliveries to the whakatane branch and the staff at inwards goods are friendly and helpful. I really appreciate this and Rob and Tina deserve some recognition for running their department well. My only complaint is that the area for trucks to turn around in keeps getting smaller due to more items getting placed and stored in the area.

My favourite store. Each time I visit I see something new and think "that's great, must remember that down the track"

This has to be the most unhelpful store I have been too. Sadly staff to busy talking. Also some don’t want to help just turn their back on you and walk away. Unlike Rotorua and Tauranga branch which are outstanding.. Though Whakatane is my local. I prefer to go else where

I was given advice on selecting a pot of paint for a bedroom of standard size...I was told that the advised pot of paint would be enough to do 2 rooms...In actual fact the pot of paint wasn't enough to cover a single room and left it very patchy...I have to now purchase another pot...it leaves me wondering if this was a marketing strategy.

Unfriendly staff person at front entrance whose ignorance lead me to the wrong isle, when I asked, then didn't apologize when I went back to her. Toilets absolutely filthy I was appalled. Our store in Gisborne has a much better vibe.

Called into Bunnings Warehouse Whakatane to see if they had any Bistro outdoor curtains. They only had the 120cm by 240cm drop with white trim. We required 300cm by 240cm drop with white trim.The lady and the enquires counter went out of her way and looked into other Bunnings stores to see if they had any available as the one they had in stock was already airmarked for someone..

I love Bunnings. Everything I have needed to make my new garden was there, and the experienced staff to advise me. Super happy with the .99c seed packs. Lots of choices and a reliable brand. I'll be back for more. Thanks Bunnings, and Mr Fothergills! #thankful

For a small store they have a good range of product. Good service too

Staff are friendly helpful and always willing to go that extra mile for their customer. Am used to the stores in Australia with their vast range and variety of product compared to the NZ stores... frustrating at times.

This place is very easy to find what you need. I can walk in and I'm greeted with a polite attitude and a smile. Very good customer service as well. Prices are very good as well. Would recommend this place for anyone. Awesome. Hope everyone else's experience is same as mine.

Staff member asked if we were okay. Invalid father said no we'd like to get past (staff member had a trolly blocking the isle). Staff member ignored us and walked down the isle re stocking shelves with pots. I had to move his cart. Ignorant to say the least.

Always helpful and normally have what I need. Prices are generally good. There has been shortages of many items during covid but looks like things are getting back to normal.
