Enjoyed our day out. Very interesting and educational. A mixture of exhibitions on display from dinosaurs to earthquakes to everyday birds and bugs. There are at least 2 places to eat and prices are not to bad seeing as you don't pay for entry to the museum as it's free, donations are welcome. Would recommend visiting at least once. Easy access for buggies and wheelchairs

We were there with kids, they loved it! Although it is free to visit you have to book your visit, and if it is full they don't take people without a booking, so plan ahead. The dinosaur 🦖🦕 exposition is great, but very crowded. The part about the earth geology is awesome and very kid friendly. There is a large exposition of gems also. The great hall and the building are also beautiful and impressive!

Another wonderful museum in London! A place to spend a whole day! Astonishing architecture, wonderful collections, kids-friendly place, nice souvenir shops. I found the dinosaur and minerals collections especially fascinating! The curators have done their job brilliantly! The part on volcanoes was really helpful and insightful!

The Natural History Museum has been around for a long time, I remember going as a child.... and recently on a trip out we decided to take our own children for a visit. We knew it could get busy so we booked a time slot online beforehand, it's free admission and you can give a donation if you'd like. Plenty of places to give a donation when you are there as well, and thankfully there is no hard sell. If your planning to do the museum properly and see everything, then give yourself a good few hours. We have young children, so no chance of seeing everything, we just prioritised a few key areas - mainly around stuff they are doing at school. We still managed just under 3 hours...! The place is HUGE! There are also a few exhibits which you can pay to see, but be aware that some things get sold out if you have not planned ahead. The museum has a restaurant / cafe area to 'refuel' as well as all the other facilities you would expect to see from a big London museum. Navigation can be a bit tricky / confusing as much of the building is old, and you will end up retracing your steps at times to go back to areas you may have missed! If you take very small children, you may find yourself carrying prams up / down stairs etc, and when really busy it can be quite tight getting through the crowds of people - there isn't really a set route in most areas, people just go where they like (apart from the dinosaur area which had a fairly clear one way type system!) Our kids were perhaps a little too young to appreciate everything that the museum had to offer, but we still had a great time - and I would still recommend the museum for a visit, and I can imagine we will certainly being visiting again in the not too distant future... an excellent museum!

Free to visit. This Museum is a great place to visit for any age. It has so many interesting items. It is inspiring and reflective regarding are planet. It is a place of learning and awakens also the knowledge we hold within. Great staff and volunteers will help you and guide you. Accessibility at all levels by stairs and lifts. Time to visit, it is a very large museum. You can spend many hours and still feel you have only seen a small amount. Cafe and shop. It's a place where children can interact with the surroundings. It's on the list of amazing places to visit. A few pictures to give you a glimpse of inside the museum.

An impressive place, the museum is enormous and you cannot see everything in a couple of hours. My recommendation is to look at the map and select in advance the exhibits that are most appealing to you. The highly popular dinosaur’s exhibit is located at the ground floor and can be busy. I especially like the Earth Treasure’s gallery with magnificent rocks and gems. You can buy the museum activity book for 5p that includes a map and nice explanations and tasks for kids.

(Translated by Google) For our trip to London ....., it was one of the stops I had set out to do. Once you go to a very important place or city like London, there are places and places that you must visit. The British Museum is one of them! For a lover of the history of art and archeology it is the best. I won't tell you if you add the fact that you are passionate, like me, of the movie "The Mummy"! 😁😁😁, set in the British Museum! Apart from this little "parenthesis", it was an extraordinary experience. It takes a dip in the past. You travel through the centuries, as if the centuries had never passed, as if all you see is the present! Stay in touch with civilizations that existed hundreds and thousands of years ago, breathe a surreal atmosphere, take a dip in a story that until then you only knew from school books! It was an unforgettable experience and I would add "fascinating" too! Everyone should visit it! We are talking about the BRITISH MUSEUM !!! Tutti dovrebbero visitarlo! Stiamo parlando del BRITISH MUSEUM!!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Magnificent collections of fossils and bones of dinosaurs and other animals that is been extinct. They have lots of collections of precious natural stones from around the world and even meteorites. You need a whole day to really explore this area. One of the good thing about this museum is free. No Entrance fee needed. But if you like to give donations depends on you.

Wow! A free attraction that you can get lost on and spend all day there. We arrived at 11am and left at 5. There was so much to see. The humming bird taxidermy display was truly amazing. Such a great work of art. Also the actual building was more breathtaking than the exhibits. We only managed to do a quarter of the museum. There is a little dinosaur cafe bit that the children enjoyed. We didn't do any of the paid stuff as there was a lot to do. Also the crystals they have for sale are at such great prices very cheap.

We've always wanted to visit the Natural History Museum and finally got the chance to go this year. Based in South Kensington, it was fairly easy to plan travel to the location of the museum. We went on a Friday during the summer holidays and it was pretty busy but we were able to get round the museum with ease and look at all that we wanted to. It was free to enter and we had no waiting time but we were told by friend to book tickets online anyway so you have a slot time for your visit. Our main area of interest was the Jurassic era so seeing real dinosaur bones and preserved fossils was pretty amazing. We even got to see Dippy the Dinosaur that is currently at the museum for a limited time. Lots of great history and facts on earth and wildlife. Really enjoyed it. Its free to enter and all they ask for is donations towards keeping it open. The only downside I personally experienced was that I bought a salad from one of the on site Cafes and about 20 minutes after eating it, it repeated on me and I spent about 15 minutes in the loos being sick. My top tip would be to eat before you attend, take snacks and a bottle of water to stay hydrated. It got pretty hot in some of the rooms so be prepared.

Really enjoyed my second visit to the Natural History Museum. Absolutely fantastic museum with loads on offer for everyone. I've now done the dinosaur exhibit twice, and will likely make it my first stop on my next visit. The cocoon was quiet - away from the hustle and bustle of crowds of school kids. Some really cool specimens of insects in there, and had the opportunity to watch some scientists working in real time through the viewing windows. The mammal exhibit is great with plenty to see, but it would be nice if the invertebrate sea life section had a bit more to look at, it felt like a part of the museum that is coming up for an update. Plenty of great birds to look at as well, some really cool birds on display. The architecture too is phenomenal, a genuinely beautiful building to look at, inside and out. Really looking forward to my next visit, when I'll do the red zone and spend more time in geology. This is really a three visit museum at minimum. If you've read this far - book tickets. There must have been 300 people queued up in the non-ticket line when I got there, so I just got on my phone and booked tickets and walked straight through the ticket line, no wait.

I really liked the museum, it is interesting not only for children, but also for adults. We booked a time in advance, but no one looked at the tickets. There are a large number of exhibits, dinosaurs are like real ones, you can learn a lot of new things. The museum itself is incredibly beautiful, every detail, column, wall. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place and bring their children.

You can't go wrong with free entry. Fantastic way to spend a few hours. Great, interesting exhibitions for all ages. Bought the Kids guide but only used it for the map during the visit. Will probably make more use out of it during the train journey home!

Great museum. I've been there twice and I've loved the experience each time. Rich history of the earth's changing landscape over millions of years and what caused the changes. It displays also the history of the different species of animals that once lived on earth and brought about their extinction. There is so much knowledge on display. The kids had fun touring the museum and asking lots of questions. There are food cafes and cake and coffee bars within the museum if you need a bite. The top 3 (or so) levels are the busiest so unsurprisingly, the toilets have a long queue too but people rarely go down to the lower levels. There are large rooms there (on the school trip/investigative/research floor) with tables and seats and empty toilets. It's much quieter down there if you just wanted some peace and quiet to read or have your meal. The museum is a great place to go explore with the kids on a day out or if you're even an adult that wants to know more about the history of our planet and universe.

This museum has been on my bucket list forever and finally I have made the trip here earlier this year in spring. Reserved the tickets online. There was a queue in the morning. It was still pretty quick to get in when the doors opened. Ah the displays were wonderful! Everything was a delight. Especially the more famous displays. Was floored by the hanging skeleton of the whale in the entrance hall. To anyone out there who loves museums. This is a must visit. You may not be able to cover it all in one day but it is sure fun to try. Be prepared for some crowds I guess. It wasn't too overwhelming on the day I visited.

Wow, this place is incredible, so much to see and do and always something new each time you visit. I can't believe it's still free to enter, although you can make a voluntary donation, as it's one of the best places to visit in London. Although it's always busy, and rightly so, because of the building's size, you can still find relatively quiet exhibition rooms to enjoy. You can easily spend a day here, the time just flies by.

Awesome! Absolutely fantastic! My favourite museum that I have been to. Both my brother and I are fully grown adults but upon walking in we felt like children again. I excited to see Dippy again after 5 years and it did not disappoint. If you visit do try to find the specimen rooms located a bit off the beaten path. This area is quiet but has some fascinating specimen jars that are great to see.

My favourite room in the British Museum is the Enlightenment Gallery. Last time I was there, I spent ages looking at all the amazing objects collected and concentrated in this huge space and all its cabinets and drawers and boxes and displays. It can get overwhelming, but if you go about it slowly, is very rewarding.

The British Museum is really nice. To begin with the building itself and then the main lobby, those are beautiful structures and views. Inside the Museum, you can find history from all over the world and that's pretty cool. I admit I'm not the most Museum type guy, but I thought it was really amazing to check the Rosetta Stone, the original blocks from the Parthenon, check the natural "human mummy", amongst many other objects and artifacts (awesome clocks, incredible chess board, weapons, traditions, etc.). And to finish, the best part... You can check all that for FREE!!! Enjoy.

I visited this place a while back, and I have to say it’s a great outdoor activity for family, friends or even if you’re on your own. I enjoyed it quite a bit and learned quite a bit too. I got fascinated by things I thought didn’t interest me before, so the museum also taught me something about myself too! I will definitely re visit as you don’t have time to explore it all in one go, unless you breeze through and hardly read anything you look at!

It was my 3rd visit in 15 years. Each one felt exactly the same, not much has been updated. I prefer going back to the Museum of Natural History in NYC. Even the Fields Museum in Chicago is more interesting.

Iconic London museum which is a must see for the whole family. This stunning building houses a natural history collection dating back billions of years. It's a huge place with many different sections and it's very difficult to do the whole thing in one go. It's free though and you can come back again. Dinosaurs, human evolution, volcano and earthquake zones are just some of the things to see and enjoy. With a number of cafes, plenty of bathrooms and gift shops, there is something for everyone. The architecture of the actual museum is beautiful and we had an amazing time. Essential for anyone interested in our natural world.

This is a really good museum. The rock collection is quite good. The dinosaur collection is Quite good but not as good as some that I have seen across the world Particularly in Alberta Canada. The Museum seems to have an obsession with a dodo bird. Museum is easily accessible. It has many nice cafés inside. It is also very close to the V& A Museum so doing both at the same time might be a good idea. The museum is not air-conditioned but there are many parts of the museum that are well aired out so I was comfortable on a hot day.

Great experience. It's really a great treat for free. Very well kept museum. It's quite an extensive collection of specimens. Vast diverse richly detailed sections and each of them is worth visiting. Needs at least 4 to 5 hours to explore the whole museum nicely.

Great museum, lots of things to look at, the reading is very engaging. We particularly liked the dinosaur section. We had to queue for about 30 minutes on a Friday around 12 o’clock so I recommend making a reservation beforehand. The museum itself was quite packed with people, it might be better to come later before closing times to avoid families and bigger crowds. The entrance is free but you can donate. You need at least 3-4 hours here but could easily spend a whole day.

Free museum with small areas which are paid to be viewed. It's very large and can take multiple hours to explore fully. Lots of different areas of interest and some interactive sections, kid friendly. Highly suggested. Areas include videos with sign language options too. Walking into the Natural History Museum in London was like stepping into a treasure trove of natural wonders. The exhibits cover an extensive range – from ancient fossils that trace the evolution of life on Earth to stunning gemstones that showcase the beauty of our planet. One standout was the dinosaur exhibit. Life-sized models and genuine fossils created an immersive experience, making it feel like you're in the presence of these ancient giants. The level of detail in the displays, along with accompanying information, added depth to the educational aspect. Moving beyond, the museum houses a captivating array of specimens representing various branches of natural history – from geological formations to intricate displays of flora and fauna. The diversity of the collections ensures there's something to pique the interest of every visitor. The morning visit allowed for a more intimate exploration. With fewer people around, I could take my time appreciating the intricate details of each exhibit without the usual hustle and bustle. It also made navigating through the museum's different sections smoother. Overall, the Natural History Museum stands as a testament to the marvels of our planet, offering a comprehensive and enlightening journey through the wonders of natural history. A visit to the Natural History Museum with the family and kids is an essential London day out that will not disappoint. Amazing replica moulds of huge dinosaur bones.that tower over you and provide great picture memories. Free entry, freedom of movement and good opening times. The lunar exhibition is home to a massive illuminated representation of the moon. Amazing wildlife, mineral, plant, biology and other nature exhibits to.explore at your own leisure. I believe there is a paid exhibit which is either Avenger or Star Wars themed for the kids and geeks alike. Nice gift shop to end the day and bring home a souvenir. 5 stars well deserved. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

The museum is sensational. I recommend it a lot for children because there are a lot of stuffed animals. It has full-size animal reproductions that are very realistic. There is no age to visit this museum. The museum is very accessible for people who cannot use stairs, there are elevators for better accessibility to the exhibitions.

A beautiful museum which was built and opened to public in 1881. That’s 140 years ago today! Architect Alfred Waterhouse designed the museum to be a cathedral to nature and it is!One can’t help but be overawed by the design especially when you first enter the main hall. An awesome tribute to God’s creation in nature! About 80 million objects spanning 4.5 billion years are displayed here. An incredible claim I’m the museum website! Besides the amazing collections displayed, I did not know that the museum is also a leading research institute! More than 300 scientists work here and up to 700 research papers are published annually. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here and I looking forward to return again! Do join the behind-the-scenes tour which I did and I learned so much more about the museum.

I've always wanted to go to the Natural History Museum, so I was very exicted to finally get the opportunity to visit. We visited on a Friday, and should definitely have booked tickets in advance to save the queue time outside. The staff did very well to get us all in, but it was busy, and we had to wait a while to get in. The exhibits are amazing. I loved the huge scale of all the prehistoric fossils, and the building itself is beautiful. The dinosaur and marine sections were really enjoyable for me. It took a few hours to view just these zones alone, so you could easily spend the whole day there if you wanted. Some of the popular areas are very busy, so you have to be patient if you want to see everything. Because of the volume of visitors, it can get very hot! They added some portable fans and air conditioning units into some of the rooms, which took the edge off, but we skipped some of the really hot areas. In between the visit we went to the cafe, which was pretty reasonably priced and had a nice lunch box for kids. It's definitely worth buying a map (it costs £1) as the place is huge, and it would easy to miss a few of the rooms. For a free museum, the place is amazing and definitely worth some extra donations as you enter. The only negative is that as the museum got busier and busier, we became keen to leave and rushed through the last few rooms. This will obviously be different depending when you visit, but definitely recommended.

If you are into natural history then this museum is incredible. However if you get bored of looking at old fossils and minerals then you don't need much more than an hour in this place. From what I could see a map of the building requires a donation and the most interesting part of the museum is the entrance way with the huge dinosaur. They did have a dinosaur exhibition when I was there which is interesting but again doesn't take much more than 20 minutes to go through, but it was very good for kids as well

The iconic dinosaur skeleton 'Dippy the Diplodocus' looked amazing. The temperature for the wedding reception was very hot. Shame the Museum did not have air conditioning.

Love the NHM. Brought my kids here alot. Also used their butterfly house when open to see spectacular butterflies, caterpillars and moths. It can get very busy from about 12 onwards so I always came early and waited outside from about 9.30am and left after lunch. Great souvenir shop and awesome displays. It's so big you'll have to go more than once to make sure you see it all!

(Translated by Google) The capital of Great Britain is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the world. One of its main attractions is undoubtedly the British Museum. This is one of the largest and most visited museums in the world. The huge collection of the museum is divided by subject into several sections. We devoted most of our time to exhibits related to the history of Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. A few years before visiting the museum we were in the Egyptian Giza, where the guide, talking about the Great Sphinx, said that part of his beard is in the British Museum. Therefore, the first thing, having come to the museum, we went in search of the Sphinx's beard. We searched for a long time and to our great joy they found it. Abydos tablets and much more. The section dedicated to Ancient Greece displays many famous ancient sculptures, including one of the statues of the Caryatids from the Acropolis of Athens (the famous sculpture of a disco ball is located in the huge lobby at the entrance to the museum). There are many interesting exhibits in other departments dedicated to the Ancient East, Africa, Mesoamerica, Europe. The museum contains a large number of prints and graphics, including works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Durer, Raphael and other famous authors. You can devote a whole day to the museum, or even more than one, everything is so interesting. Besides, the entrance to the museum is free.

Today was my first ever time at the natural history museum and i absolutely loved it!! You could honestly spend hours here but you'd truly need to spend the whole day to be able to see everything. It's massive! They've got hand sanitising stations everywhere and parts blocked off to keep everyone safe during this time. The gift shop was nicely kept and members of staff were so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended coming to this place!!! These are the only pictures i took as I completely forgot to take any more.

What a beautiful museum the building is absolutely stunning! The collections are great, my children loved it all, every section was interesting and kept their attention. It was easy to access on the tube, there are two entrances one for the general public and one for anyone who needs ramp access (wheelchair, prams ect). The gift shop is great they have lots of crystals which were actually cheaper than eBay which was a shocker! I do recommend buying one of the maps so you can find what you are looking for easily. They have a fantastic beast exhibition on at the moment which was ridiculously overpriced 😳

I had an incredible experience visiting the Natural History Museum in London! The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the grandeur of the architecture and the vastness of the exhibits. The museum offers a fascinating journey through time, showcasing the wonders of our natural world. From the awe-inspiring dinosaur skeletons to the beautifully displayed gemstones, every section is meticulously curated and informative. The interactive displays and immersive exhibits make learning about our planet's history engaging and enjoyable for visitors of all ages. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant experience. I highly recommend a visit to the Natural History Museum—it's a true gem in the heart of London!

Came here on the most busiest days ever where there were school kids on trips and families going around. If you like going to more quieter museums, then this place wouldn’t be recommended Besides that, it was lovely to go around and learn about the history of humankind and our climate. There were lots to see considering it was all free. Lovely shop at the end that had lots of things to buy. Would recommend booking a free entry ticket to avoid the queues

There is always a queue but it's way quicker with ticket booked. The place is very crowded. Lots of places to eat, sit or drink. Not so much interactivity in my opinion. The range of topics in the museum are quite big but the most crowded are dinosaurs with amazing skeletons. Overall nice play to visit.

Adults and kids had a blast, but our feet were not ready for this museum. It's beautiful and cleverly laid out with lots of interesting focal points and beautiful architecture to bring it all together. Some of the exhibits were higher quality and more thought out than others. The kids could not get enough of it, especially the dinosaur exhibit. Highly recommend, but bring a comfortable pair of shoes. Pro tip: book your reservations ahead of time (it's free) and you won't have to wait much or at all. We spent over 3.5 hours there, but you will need more if you plan on being meticulous.

We went on a Friday afternoon, and it was super busy and I think this affected the experience. I am the sort that typically require some space and quite to ponder on the specimens and exhibitions. There was also a long queue, guessing this had to do with the fact it was a Bank Holiday weekend. The Museum itself wasn't bad. Sections of the building and ground was under renovation but this didn't take away from the beauty of the building. I thought it was grand. I loved the intricate designs both in and out as well as the elegant ceilings. Those were worth paying attention too as well. And the hanging specimens from the roof were a stunner. Although the weather control didn't seem to work and it was mostly a sweaty experience, we still managed to have a good time. In the end, we found the Cafe/Restaurant on the ground floor and sat by a fan. The toilet was clean.

Four stars because in certain places it has started showing it’s age. Otherwise a great museum, where kids and adults can learn a great deal about the evolution of life on our planet. I would recommend booking online timed entry tickets (free) ahead of time. Reasonable prices in the canteen. Impressive building, especially the main hall. Easy, well-signposted access directly from South Kensington tube station.

An absolutely stunning museum with many new renewed exhibits. The dinosaur exhibit was such a huge success with the kids and they even had life-size dinosaur installations all over the museum. The gift shop is a nice place to pick out a variety of gifts for all ages and prices. The only challenge was navigating the museum during mid-terms and when it’s holidays all over Europe. The queue to enter was huge, it moved quickly though but once inside, it was an intense time with the crowded spaces and managing little ones.

Excellent museum. We made reservations, but there was not a wait when we arrived. There is an earthquake exhibit on the top floor. It was okay, but we enjoyed the escalator ride to it more than the actual exhibit. Our favorite two exhibits were the gem stones (beautiful) and the dinosaurs. Their animatronic T-Rex was awesome. The sheer size of fossils and animal skeletons were good reminders of just how small we are in creation. Amazing!

Very fun day out for all the family. There are so many exhibits and so much to learn and see! It’s fun whether u are a kid or an adult. The staff are friendly and eager to help you if you need assistance. Many public bathrooms are available around the museum. The building itself is also very impressive and has amazing architecture. The dinosaur exhibit was the highlight of my trip but I loved everything else in the museum too! So many things here has so much historical significance and long history’s and stories behind them. The minerals are so pretty and have the most beautiful colours. There is a lot of interactive activities as well which are entertaining. Food is available in many places in the museum and there are so many places to sit if you are tired.

Wonderful building with amazing architecture. The exhibitions are very informative and laods to see. It is a massive building. The blue whale exhibition is currently closed till March 2024. Dinosaurs were great to see and they have some interactive ones too which is good. The escalator up to the volcanoes section was thoroughly enjoyed with my 2 year old. Generally for toddlers the museum ain't the best. More for older kids and adults.

Such an absolutely wonderful time. I love museums of natural history and I'm not used to going to museums for free so this was such a pleasant experience. This was my first time at the Natural History Museum in London and there were so many wonderful exhibits. I was a little sad that the escalator which looks like you are going directly into a planet was down but this museum still had so many beautiful rooms filled with amazing aspects of natural history. While I loved many if the exhibits, my favorite part was walking into the grand entrance. It literally looked like I was walking into Hogwarts. That may sound strange to some, but I was just in such awe of its grandness and beauty. Definitely hope to return again in the future.

One of my favorite museums in London. Could spend hours just walking around. Would definitely suggest spending at least 2-3 hours. Great for families with children as they have some interactive displays. Some parts were under construction, so it's good to double-check the website for any updates. The silent disco they host is also something really unique to do in London, so I'd check for the dates they are hosting it

If the collection didn't impress you, the building sure will. This is where you can combine your love for nature, science, history and architecture. This magnificent building that looks like a cathedral/palace, has millions of objects that are million year old. From most famous T-Rex, rare animals/birds to some exotic plants whose tiles decorate the museum's ceilings, this is one place that I can never get tired of. We should all be thankful to the father of dinosaurs Sir Richard Owen who wanted the building large enough to display the skeleton of the largest animal on earth, The Blue Whale. And we should also thank him for scrapping the entry fee because in olden times, these super world class attractions were only for the super rich but he wanted everyone to have access and enjoy the natural world. What a nice gesture.

A place full of history where you can spend hours and not really notice as time just flies. In normal conditions at the entrance is a queue so waiting can depend from just a couple of mins to even over 30 mins. Inside is space to move around it doesn't feel cramped. The staff is nice and helpful. A very good place to take children to learn, interaction games and simulations about how the human body works. The museum houses botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology with a very wast number of specimens. Souvenir shop inside. Tube stations are just a couple of minutes walk. Also other places that can be visited if you still have time the same day are Kensington Palace, Hyde Park or Victoria and Albert Museum. They are also just minutes of walk distance.

For a start, getting directions to the museum from googlemaps, only takes you to the exit. To get to the museum's entrance, just carry on around to the other side of the building (left around, as you look at it). Right, as for the museum itself; as of early September 2020, the hand held audio guide isn't available. What they advise you to do, is use a QR reader and get information that way. You can also go to google's playstore, and download an audio from there; multiple languages are available. A large section of the museum deals with Egyptian history, from the 4th and 3rd millenium BC. Both the Rosetta Stone, and enormous statues of animals with altered heads. The pharoah's were viewed as near God like people, and even touching their feet was treated as great privilege. The depictions on pharaoh's tombs, indicated how they were to live in the afterlife, so included food, servants etc... Next there's Ancient Greece, leading up to the Roman era; with numerous statues and coinage. You're then taken to the Minoans and Miceneans; and shown some musical instruments made from bone. They're parts of the Greek Parthenon there, and also a full size replica of it. Then you go to the more modern collections from Africa studies, and some modern art. There is an emphasis on how items were obtained, and deal with weaponary and African beliefs. A grand day out, although no cream teas as the cafè is closed.

What a place! Had a fabulous time with my fiance (soon to be wife) walking around on my birthday. The amount of exhibitions and knowledge you can acquire from a place like this is astonishing. I'd recommend you visit this not in one go as you will be absolutely exhausted. You should attempt to visit it in probably 3 days if you want to actually learn anything. Architecturally speaking, it is fantastic, just shows how great the buildings of old were. Being around for over 100 years and still holding all its glory, really amazes me. I cannot wait to come back more times and check the new exhibitions.

We left it too late to book our time slot and 15:15 was the earliest option. My 11 year older daughter enjoyed the dinosaur exhibition. So much so that she bought a dinosaur tail to wear. The cafe is over priced and disappointing for what we pay, but it is an oasis to rest between all the walking. My daughter loved avocado, chicken and spinach sandwich, but it’s better to take your own picnic if you have time to prepare it. The shop is great. We bought so many things over the years. The gem stone section was amazing. We were chased out as the museum was closing at 18:00. Book your slot a month or more in advance to get a morning time slot to enjoy the whole experience if you are not local. See

Amazing museum in London. Free entry which is a big plus + And the site is just beautiful and huge to say the least, and very well kept. Staff were friendly and the exhibitions were absolutely fantastic and visiting the museum makes a great day out for kids family and anyone in London. If you are in the area there are loads of museums near by such as the science museum which is also just as good as well as the Victoria and Albert museum. Overall 5 stars .

Great experience including the Fantastic Beasts exhibition. The food is a bit pricey, as expected of a museum, bit the attractions are well worth the trip! The staff are so friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask for help if you get lost. You will need to visit here more than once, this place is huge! I'm bringing my nieces and nephews here for a day trip next time. There is plenty of things for both adults and children to enjoy so it's fun for all ages.

We visited London specially to attend the National History Museum, we were expecting a few hours of looking around but we were in there 5 hours and had the best day! The museum is incredible and humbling, and as we are members there is a members only lounge and restaurant too. They were limiting numbers due to COVID. The exhibits are really interesting and there’s so much to see. Our visit today will be a special memory to me and we hope to return. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Even if natural history isn't your favorite subject you will love this place. The minute you walk through the doors you feel like a kid, it's such a great feeling. Everything feels like an exciting revelation. And absolutely do not skip the wild life garden outside, especially in the autumn. It's a little peaceful wood in the middle of the big city. We walked in to see a little fox chasing birds while golden leaves fell all around, it was magical.

Having not been here in 10+ years, it was still as awesome as I remember it, however a little smaller (I was a kid the last time I came). Lots of really cool exhibits, although I felt that most exhibits were small and could’ve had more stuff to get lost in. Still a fun visit though!

Without a doubt, the best museum I've ever visited. You can easily spend the entire morning or afternoon there. It's perfect for a rainy day. There are various interactive exhibitions for both children and adults. If you're in London, it's a must-see attraction.

It's good for kids. For adults, there is a lot of improvement. I have been to natural history museums in New York, Washington DC, Oxford UK and this one. By far this is the worst natural history museum I must say. I think specimens are kept with aesthetics in mind rather than the idea of conveying knowledge to visitors. The building is grand and photogenic in every angle, indoors and outdoors. Free tickets, clean toilets are some good things. The dinosaur section was rather disappointing. As I mentioned earlier, it's an absolute entertainment for kids, whereas, I would like to see real specimens and read about them rather than viewing some video playing on a big screen.

Amazing building, very busy in summer. Has a good flow to the exhibits which keeps traffic flowing well. Displays are informative and interactive allowing you to take as little or as much time as you would like. Unlikely to see everything in a day so either choose a few exhibits you would like to focus on or stagger over a number of days.

An excellent place for a nature enthusiast. Free entry for all, open all days. I loved their rock section, the dinosaur section is awesome too. Many of the pieces have an interactive interface that makes the experience engaging and fun! Do not forget to carry some snacks as it does take a minimum of an entire day’s time!

This is a must-go place if you visit London, and I will definitely go back again and again every time I go to the city. The architecture of the museum itself is already amazing, and the exhibition planning inside even makes the whole experience more fascinating. Every different zone in the museum has its own unique architectural and atmospheric style, which makes you feel like you are entering several different worlds in one day. Overall, this is very impressive to visit this museum, and one day viewing is definitely not enough. Remember to arrange more days for this free-access museum.

Another world class London museum, and it's absolutely free. It's a must if you have kids. Located right off Cromwell Road, this museum is great for people of all ages and backgrounds. I think it's a very cool museum and I could stay here all day. It's one of the most modern and enjoyable museums to go to, but that's just my personal view. However, I particularly enjoy learning about science. Even someone who is just a bit interested could spend many hours. We only had time to see the displays of dinosaurs and fossils during our afternoon visit.

Excellent collection, although I have many conflicted feelings about the origins thereof. The signage could be more helpful to avoid excess wandering as it is very crowded and today (late June) very, very hot. In many ways I enjoyed the stunning architectural details more than the collection! The highlight for me was seeing stardust.

For me, this is the best museum I ever got to visit. Of course it's all relative, so it all depends on your preference, but I'd get back here anytime I visit London. Couldn't get enough of it. Be aware that it's a big museum, so you'll need lots of time to see all the areas.

It's a free Museum, that contains a lot of stuff! From History of different themes to funny games for the kids and a lot of cool information about a lot of animals, science and dinosaurs. When you plan to visit this you might need a couple of hours to have the opportunity to explore everything. They have a lot of rooms, departments and floors. They even have vegan options here in the restaurant!! This was very impressive!! The architecture of the building is so stunning!! And on the wall you have even little cute animals in there! The entertainment for the kids seemed to be fun so I think it's good too. Topics like climates chance were also very highlighted and important in the location, there was a lotta information about that and even a lot of spots where you can recycle your trash. The museum is easily accessible by public transport (subway, bus) and at the area there are a lot of spots where you have the opportunity to drink or eat if you don't find any food options in the museum restaurant. We visited this place for a couple of hours and we were there early but the range of people and especially kids... They were so loud and I had the feeling, that the staff there don't care much about that. And in a lot of rooms there was low or no fresh air,we was there in the middle of the summer and in some places in the museum it was horrible because of the thin, hot and heavy air. But this was the only reason that I don't like.

It's a great exhibition and it's hard to believe it's free. There is a wide range of exhibits, from living organisms to minerals, and both men and women are sure to enjoy them. The museum is very large, so be careful not to concentrate too much or lose track of time. Priority entry is given, although advance booking is not essential.

This was an unplanned visit and - as it happens very often with unexpected things - it was a marvellous experience. A friend took us there without telling us in advance, and we enjoyed every minute of it. It has to be said that the museum is huge, and if you wish to have an in-depth visit, two full days will not be enough. Actually, after a while you can easily start feeling dizzy and in need of refreshments. We opted for a speedier course, prioritising certain sections and leaving others, and we managed to see most of what we wanted in just under two hours, every minute of that time well spent.

Although the museum itself is very beautiful and intriguing, it was incredibly crowded when I visited (on a Thursday afternoon) which I believe diminished its enjoyability. I would recommend visiting as early as possible if you want the full experience. There's something to see in every corner and there is a wide variety of exhibitions. This is definitely a must visit if you're interested in nature and animals.

This museum is a fantastic place for kids of all age groups. It's divided into different zones, including green, orange, blue, and red. The blue zone is a favorite among kids, thanks to its impressive dinosaur demonstrations, fossils, and dinosaur robots. The first and second floors offer captivating presentations on topics like earthquakes and space. Additionally, the museum boasts excellent restaurants and shopping areas.

As always, a brilliant experience in the Natural History Museum! This time myself and my partner went on the behind the scenes tour, led by a very knowledgeable guide called Matt! He made the tour very interesting with some little known facts about the Museum and of the specimens we were shown as well. Would highly recommend this tour as part of your visit as you see so much of what you can't on the public levels of the Museum (this is due to the need of them being protected). Anyone would find the Natural History Museum interesting! It is an amazing place to spend the day. Also, definitely worth visiting the gift shop at the end! 😁

What a magnificent museum! We normally come on weekends with our little one. It is quite overwhelming for a young toddler to be in here. It is quite noisy and many traffic even though the museum is huge! If you enter from the main gate, you will find the iconic ‘Hope’ blue whale skeleton up in the ceiling. The hall is with such high ceilings and lights come through the windows. It is one of the best places to visit with kids in winter. It’s one of our favourite winter activities in London. The dinosaur room has a huge model with sounds. The kids love it. Do go upstairs if you want the best view of the museum, you will get a great photo!

Best Museum to visit. There is something of interest for every age, culture, character, human. The museums in London are free of entrance which is a great cultural offer I think. U just have to book a ticket online and show it when u enter. If u r really into museums one day isn't enough at all u need at least 3 days here.

This museum is amazing and not just for kids! The Natural History Museum is free for all, but of course it’s great if you can donate to keep the place going. Exhibitions are at an additional cost. I always love coming here and feel like a I learn so much. The building is stunning, and it’s even worth walking around and looking at the beautiful ceilings the centre has. This museum has everything from Dinosaurs, rocks, insects, animals and planets. There are many interactive elements, which is great for kids, but also a lot of in-depth information for adults. There are quite a few cafes inside to grab something to eat and drink and the pricing is not too outrageous. I highly recommend everyone visit this museum.

Don't forget to visit the Hintze hall for the famous dinosaur skeleton. Souvenirs are unique compared to other museums too. Definitely recommended for those seeking for family or couple activities. However, definitely recommend everyone to plan your visit early and book a ticket online in advance, as the queue can last for more than an hour.

Magical experience - must come again! The building is amazing, the various rooms are filled with loads of information, displays, and very interesting stuff all around. Personal favourites: the blue whale skeleton and the animated T-Rex! Glorious. Our family of three very much enjoyed, and we spent a few hours there; we didn't manage to cover all the rooms. We shall come back. During Covid-19, the museum took this seriously with mask-wearing, sanitiser stations at regular intervals.

A museum worth a visit specially if you have kids, you can see plenty of fossils some of them go back to 500 million years ago which is really fascinating. There is a section about natural disasters and another’s about moon which is very informative. There is cafe as well were have some refreshments. We do enjoy it every time we go there. Entry is free but must book in advance and you can add a donation.

Every where else we visited had brilliant social distancing but we were disappointed that the Natural History Museum seemed to have lots of people in as normal. Lots of the exhibits were closed which we were not made aware of upon booking. Social distancing needs to be re-looked at there, because even though they only let a set amount of people in at certain times, it just was crazy inside. I even had a lady climb over my son in his pram to get a better view of an exhibit, maybe some stickers on the floor to mark social distancing would go down well and staff keeping an eye out to ensure rules are being adhered to would be a good idea. We won’t be back until after the pandemic. We do love the museum though and I understand the difficulties of trying to keep up with Government Guidelines.

The British Museum was founded in 1753 and opened its doors in 1759. It was the first national museum to cover all fields of human knowledge, open to visitors from across the world. Enlightenment ideals and values – critical scrutiny of all assumptions, open debate, scientific research, progress and tolerance – have marked the Museum since its foundation. The Museum is driven by an insatiable curiosity for the world, a deep belief in objects as reliable witnesses and documents of human history, sound research, as well as the desire to expand and share knowledge. In 1753, an Act of Parliament created the world's first free, national, public museum that opened its doors to 'all studious and curious persons' in 1759. Initially, visitors had to apply for tickets to see the museum's collections during limited visiting hours. In effect, this meant entry was restricted to well-connected visitors who were given personal tours of the collections by the museum's Trustees and curators. From the 1830s onwards, regulations were changed and opening hours were extended. Gradually, the museum became truly open and freely accessible to all and we now welcome more than 6 million local and international visitors to the museum every year. Our extensive touring exhibition and loans programme means that millions of people also see the museum's collections at venues across the UK and worldwide. Sir Hans Sloane (1660–1753), physician and President of the Royal Society, amassed a huge collection of more than 80,000 'natural and artificial rarities' with a vast library of over 40,000 books and manuscripts, and 32,000 coins and medals. The 1753 Act purchased this for the public which, along with the Cotton, Harley and Royal Libraries, became a new kind of public institution, called the British Museum. Sloane had used developing global networks created by European imperial expansion to collect these materials and financed the purchases with income partly derived from enslaved labour on Jamaican sugar plantations

The British Museum, in the Bloomsbury area of London, England, is a public institution dedicated to human history, art and culture. Its permanent collection of some eight million works is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence,[3] having been widely collected during the era of the British Empire. It documents the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.[a] It was the first public national museum in the world.

I believe that, for those who can in their countries enjoy this moment, they should enjoy it.

The British Museum is probably one of the sights you shouldn't miss when you're in London. There's a reason why it's the most visited tourist attraction in the UK: it has an amazing collection of artifacts, dating back thousands of years and drawn from all over the world.

I really like fhis museum. Very interesting. The museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 80 million items within five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology. The museum is a centre of research specialising in taxonomy, identification and conservation. Given the age of the institution, many of the collections have great historical as well as scientific value, such as specimens collected by Charles Darwin. The museum is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons and ornate architecture.

The Natural History Museum in London is a natural history museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It is one of three major museums on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The Natural History Museum's main frontage, however, is on Cromwell Road. The museum is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons and ornate architecture—sometimes dubbed a cathedral of nature—both exemplified by the large Diplodocus cast that dominated the vaulted central hall before it was replaced in 2017 with the skeleton of a blue whale hanging from the ceiling. The Natural History Museum Library contains extensive books, journals, manuscripts, and artwork collections linked to the work and research of the scientific departments; access to the library is by appointment only. The museum is recognised as the pre-eminent centre of natural history and research of related fields in the world.

(Translated by Google) They write and say that the Natural History Museum is one of London's most popular cultural venues. The museum is located at the end of the popular Exhibition Road, which is full of science institutions and London museums along its entire length. The street name refers to the Great Exhibition organized in 1851 in nearby Hyde Park, and the beginning of the museum's collection is associated with the figure of the doctor born in Ulster, Sir Hans Sloane, who in the first half of the 18th century became famous as an explorer, collector and man of many interests. We wanted to see what the museum looks like so we had to check it out. 🧐🏛️📸 While visiting the long rooms and corridors, we will see, among others fossils of creatures from different periods of earth's history, gemstones, reptiles, animals, birds, meteorites, minerals and impressive dinosaur skeletons, and look at the model of Tyrannosaurus rex moving in different directions. The most characteristic room in the building is Hala Hintze (called Hintze Hall), which is an elongated hall in the style of a cathedral. Interesting performance, where the skeleton of a giant blue whale is currently suspended from the ceiling. It is worth seeing the visual vastness of creatures that lived in the past. The museum is divided into four zones named with different colors in order to precisely define the range of history and changes and to increase the functionality of visiting for tourists - well thought out and prepared! To the west of Hinzte Hall is the Blue Zone, this is where the dinosaur skeletons & the Orange Zone are located Dar Darwin Center, where in a special construction you can see m .in. various species of butterflies and insects, and to the east the Green Zone and here are, among others, fossils of sea creatures (including plesiosaurs skeletons found on the British coast), an exhibition devoted to birds and a huge collection of minerals. Particularly noteworthy is The Vault, in which precious stones 💎💎 (diamonds, emeralds), 💎💎 crumbs and fragments of meteorites (the Martian meteorite Tissint) have been exhibited. Among the exhibits there is even a snuffbox with diamonds commissioned by Tsar Alexander II, and still the Red Zone focuses on the surface of the earth and the evolution of the globe. We will see there, among others volcanic rocks and other stones and rocks found on the ground. Closer to the entrance and exit of the museum stands the most complete Stegosaurus skeleton ever found. Right behind the skeleton of a prehistoric animal, we are led upstairs by an escalator going through a characteristic metal globe. It looks interesting! We can enter the museum in one of three entrances, e.g. from Queen's Gate Street, Cromwell Road and Exhibition Road. (I will add a few more photos for those who are interested - if you are interested in other museums, I invite you to read my opinions). I recommend! Hintze Hall), czyli podłużna hala w stylu katedry. Polecam!

You cannot experience the extent of the museum in one trip. There is plenty to see and learn about. Definitely a must see for visitors. In the winter they also hold an ice skating rink that is pleasant but better to use earlier as it is full of puddles later on in the day.

As always the natural history museum was fascinating. I booked tickets online a month in advance as we went during the summer holidays. I booked for when it opened which was perfect as we managed to see quite alot before it got to busy. However by 11.30 it was packed. We rushed through the Dinosaur area as it was just so busy. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back soon.

The building itself is worth seeing but most of the exhibits are looking a bit shabby now - most haven't been updated since I was a kid 25 years ago and a lot of the hands on exhibits no longer work and just look very 90's now.

Natural History Museum is one of the best identity of London.. Every feature takes us back into many centuries before and we can witness the preserved history. I was never aware of this until my friend told about this a couple of days before. He could explain the dinosaur exhibition exactly of what he saw 9 years before while I was watching it. That is the level of impact it can create to anyone visiting this place. This is just a beginning for us and we would visit this place many times in a year for the learning of our kids. I would even introduce this to all my friends and even be part of the visiting along with them. My son enjoyed every moment there and he even remembered the precious visit we did in a different place while he was too young. So, I can completely see how this can be a benefit to the future generation. I also got the privilege to do a small donation as this is a free entry but we still got our role to play to preserve the environment and the future generation to be benefitted for the same. Thank you for all the hearts who had taken immense effort to preserve this nature.

So much to see!! The kids had to do so much walking bless them! But they absolutely loved looking around - the dinsoaur exhibit was a firm favourite as were the interactive sections. We re-fuelled in the cafe and took in all the beautiful stones and gems upstairs. The kids were OVER THE MOON to see Andy’s Clock from cbeebies! The museum building itself is beautiful to look at too!

A must-see, inside you can find a lot of interesting stuff about dinosaurs, animals, the earth and the moon, even a collection of all the precious rocks ordered by color. The downside it's the queue for the entrance infinite, I asked the guards for the best time, and they actually suggested me a time when the queue was short and quick. Visited in December 2019

This was a great walk through and the information is presented, though I felt displays could have been better. I had high expectations for a world renowned museum, but was disappointed. The natural history museum in NYC is leaps and bounds better in samples and presentation.

Fantastic place. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to a wedding here in the main hall. Ever since I was a child, this place has inspired me with history. I love the buildings architecture. One of the most mesmerising, inspiring and beautiful buildings in London.

Lots of construction going on outside, not signed in the most productive way though in all honesty this would totally depend upon the direction you are coming from. The building itself as always is quite remarkable to see and explore, exhibits are all incredibly well presented and maintained. The staff were helpful and polite, through some exhibits there is a one way system in place, but given recent times this is to be expected and doesn't detract from what is a brilliant day out. Look forward to going back, as there is always something you haven't seen whether it is part of an exhibition or the amazing architecture/interior design. It was clean throughout with plenty of evidence of continuous cleaning in eating/drinking areas. Hand sanitisers are easily found throughout the building. Toilets were very clean also.

There's literally tons of history from every face of the earth represented at this museum. Highly recommend visiting here if you're ever in London for the weekend. It can take a few hours to see everything if you're someone who likes to take pictures and read the descriptions. Try booking your tickets in advance, the place gets very crowded. If you can, try go earlier in the day.

Free, with quality content, so how could you not rate this 5 stars? Large museum, only frequent visitors can do it justice really, best you can hope for in a one off day visit is a relatively quick scan through. That’s not to say you won’t enjoy it though!

  • 5/5 Tracey M. 2 years ago on Google

The one and only Museum of natural history - plenty of things to do and to see for all age groups. Kids loved it as there is hours of hours of learning so many interesting facts about the world around them that has been here for millions of years. Great place to visit for the family but it is now operating in the post Covid world. You're best to book a time slot now as there's no guarantee you'll get in by just turning up. Still too big and too much to see and do in one day!

Love the main hall, beautiful architecture! I was however a bit disappointed by the dinosaur exhibit. Felt very cramped and overrun, you couldn't get a good look at most of the fossils because of the odd exhibition layout. Most of the exhibits are heavily targeted at a younger audience, so if that's not your cup of tea avoid it. Also, expect an abundance of gift shops. Aside from that a good experience overall tho.

The Natural History Museum in London is a museum of natural history that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. The museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 80 million items within five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology. The museum is a world-renowned centre of research specialising in taxonomy, identification and conservation. Given the age of the institution, many of the collections have great historical as well as scientific value, such as specimens collected by Charles Darwin. The museum is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons and ornate architecture—sometimes dubbed a cathedral of nature—both exemplified by the large Diplodocus cast dominating the vaulted central hall. The Natural History Museum Library contains extensive books, journals, manuscripts, and artwork collections linked to the work and research of the scientific departments; access to the library is by appointment only.

The building is so grand and offers so much information about various topics, however a lot of exhibits had been temporarily removed which is a shame. Highlights are the dinosaur exhibit and the Treasures room which has very rare artifacts such as Charles Darwin's handwritten notes. This is great for people of all ages.

A great day out with our kids (6 and 4). We were inside for about 4 hours which was about as long as they could manage. That gave us time to do the key exhibitions they were interested in given stopping and reading displays isn't yet really their thing. We chose to buy lunch there which was as expected on the experience end for sandwiches but as entry is free we didn't mind paying over the odds for food. You do however have the option to take your own and use the picnic area if you prefer. Certainly a good family day out, well recommend!

The Natural History Museum in London is a natural history museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. The museum is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons!! The museum is divided into four sets of galleries, or zones, each colour coded to follow a broad theme. So, you can decide in advance which zone you want to explore!!! We really had a great time in the Natural History Museum and we get some really cool photos with dinosaur skeletons :) :)

Someone told me that i could enter without booking, but since i planned to visit during weekend, so we booked ticket from 1 week before. We're lucky, we're holding the ticket. How lovely - Especially in the autumn mixed with winter season when the rink is out. The whale inside is amazing. Good guide direction with massive things to look at. Although I am not a child anymore, still I felt so keen in learning stuff in this way. One thing to point out is the groups visits could be better managed without interruption too much on individuals. But I guess it is a pain for all popular sites

I’m not too sure how you can give this place less than five stars, the outside of the building is 5 ⭐️ worthy alone, absolutely magnificent!! Just check out the detail, look for the differences in the carvings etc When built in 1881 the cost/budget must of been huge. Step inside to marvel once more, even if you’re not as interested in the content, the building itself is phenomenal.

This is probably the most beautiful building I have ever been to. If you are visiting Oxford you should go here. Excellent exhibits - especially about the geology of Oxfordshire. There is a cafe on the first floor with a great view of the main room and the Horsebox Cafe outside. When we went it wasn't super busy but I have seen other reviews mention that it can get very busy so plan accordingly. The museum is also attached to the Pitt Rivers museum. Gift shop leaves something to be desired.

So much to see here. We went to see the dinosaur exhibition and the conservation area. It's a very popular museum so pick your timing! Earlier in the day I've found is much better. My only problem is the fact that you can't just enter. You have to book tickets online. So next time I'd know to do that before setting off!

Amazing collection, Dinosaurs, meteorites, precious stones, animals historic and current, Free entry but book on line charitable donations maintain this historic building and all it contents definitely worth a long visit architecture of the build is a wonder in itself nestled in the heart of London, it does get busy so book on line quicker to get in, East Lawn outside is a great place for a family picnic before or after but take your time enjoy every room and collection 4 hours recommended but could easily be longer Just a taster of photos

Fantastic! This museum is suitable for a natural science lover. I was here for "Wildlife photographer of the year", and this exhibition was awesome. I really enjoyed the photos and the stories behind them. Other than the photo exhibition, the collections/topics in the museum were also very informative. Including the history of human, Earth and discourse. This is a must visit for natural science lovers!

While on one of our “Girls Trips”, me, Mom and my granddaughter we decided to visit the Natural History Museum in London. It’s the first time we experienced seeing dinosaurs, of course the bones. So amazing to see the size of these long past creatures. The building is also a beautiful example of architecture we don’t see in the US. I highly recommend taking the time to see this amazing place. You will be transfixed on these creatures.

Giant museum with stunning architecture and a wide variety of displays. Separate sections on dinosaurs, geology, astronomy, mammals, insects and reptiles, fossils, gem stones and so many more! We spent about 3.5 hours going through the relatively in crowded museum on a weekday. The crowds did pick up in the early afternoon though. Recommend visiting right as they open.

Outstanding place! Take your time and set aside at least 2.5 hours for this place, it's worth it. I also recommend to buy (reserve) entry ahead of time so you don't have to wait in line. Most museums are free in London, unless you want to donate something. Reservation grants you immediate entry, even if you arrive later than initially booked. The place is huge, has a lot of sections and it's very interactive and suitable for kids. They will absolutely love it.

A few words in review and five stars isn’t enough to do justice to the grandiose and the importance of this place . From inside out and outside in every part of this building and it’s specimens are worth seeing and enjoying . The architecture of the building is second to none . It is full of information for the curious of all ages whether you are just wondering or an experienced geologist or anthropologist . Children gets drawn to this place to see those giants that ruled our earth a million years ago .. the museum shop is amazing and tempting . For me it was sheer variety of books if you are a reader like me . I can go on and on about this place but unless you visit and see this place you will never appreciate the real value . And by the way it’s completely free and there’s a cafe too. If you are serious then set aside a couple of days to cover this entirely.

We always make a point on every over seas trip to visit museums and historical sites. Unfortunately on this trip we could only go to three museums, as our time was limited. This museum has a great collection of my ancestors (Assyrians), among other wonderful civilizations, which captured my interest. This museum has so much to offer, so if you decide to go to it, make sure you have ample time to explore. It’s a must visit.

From dinosaur skeletons down to small invertebrates they have it all. Lots of educational material to consume if you choose to and the food and gifts are very well priced for a museum of this type. Please note it is a little warm in areas. There are plenty of fans for comfort and lots of seating for comfort breaks

The Natural History Museum is hands down my favorite touristy spot in London! First off, the architecture is mind-blowing – I couldn't resist snapping countless pictures of the place itself. Inside, the exhibits are fantastic, catering to all interests. The geology department with its array of stones fascinated me, and don't even get me started on the dinosaur room – it was a total blast! The grand staircase in the main hall gave off major Harry Potter vibes; we spent ages there, capturing the magical play of light. We delved deep into the evolution of various dinosaur species, learning heaps while strolling around. And oh, the gift shop! It's a treasure trove of fluffy toys and adorable souvenirs. I'm definitely planning another visit; there's so much more to explore in detail! Don’t forget to pre book your free ticket so you can avoid the queue.

  • 5/5 Michael B. 5 months ago on Google
One of the best natural history museums I have ever visited! From the moment you walk in you'll be floored by the immensity. Dinosaur skeletons, the greatest gem collection ever, a moon and Martian rock, so many interactive exhibits, they just keep bringing fun knowledge. That's the great thing about the museum - you don't realize how much fun you're having while learning. Tickets are free, but buy them online in advance or prepare to spend a very very long time waiting at the door. You'll jump the line if you just go online. Gift shops and special exhibits are pricey, but since this is a free attraction, it makes sense. Bringing your own food, water and small bag is allowed.

My visit to the London Natural History Museum was a nice experience, although I anticipated it to be a bit larger. Despite its size, the museum offered a concise and engaging journey through natural history. One standout feature was the cool earthquake room, which added an interactive and educational element to the visit. It was a unique experience that brought science to life. While I managed to navigate through the museum relatively quickly, I appreciated the variety of exhibits and the effort put into making each display informative and interesting. If you're looking for a museum experience that doesn't require a whole day, the London Natural History Museum is worth a visit

This is a beautiful museum dedicated to nature and the history of nature. Immediately once you enter the museum, you will be amazed by the scale of the whale bone and the size of the. Lobby. There are so many displays and sections, each dedicated to a particular theme, you can expect to spend awhile at this place. And it's free. Overall, what an awesome and enjoyable experience.

Came on a Saturday and it was just packed with people! The most popular area is obviously the dinosaur exhibition, but if you like minerals they have a large vault on the first floor. Overall not for me, but this place would definitely be fun for families with children or if you are really interested in natural history. If you book in advance, then you can go straight into the museum without needing to queue a long line.

The best museum we have ever visited! Make sure you book your tickets in advance as it is always busy and the lines can be very long if you haven’t pre booked tickets. Some exhibits felt like a conveyor belt with the amount of people inside, you couldn’t stop to see anything. Overall it was an incredible place and a must see for anyone visiting London.

The outside of the museum has been cleaned in recent years and looks magnificent. We arrived at opening time with free timed entrance tickets purchased online. This is essential to avoid long lines. It seemed like every tourist in London makes a pilgrimage to see the animated dinosaur, which is the key attraction. We also visited the gems gallery which was comprehensive but overwhelming.

The Natural History Museum is a breathtaking spectacle, particularly at night when illuminated by enchanting lights. The grandeur of its architecture comes alive, casting a mesmerizing glow that enhances the museum's majestic aura. The intricate details of the building are accentuated, creating a captivating visual feast for visitors. The interplay of light showcases the museum's historical charm, making it a truly enchanting experience. As darkness falls, the exterior transforms into a work of art, highlighting the museum's significance not just as a repository of knowledge but also as a cultural and architectural gem. The evening ambiance adds an extra layer of magic, making a visit to the Natural History Museum an unforgettable journey through both the wonders of science and the beauty of illuminated architecture.

Buy tickets online. We walked right by a huge ticket line just after opening time. The museum is very large. I suggest picking a couple of areas to wonder through unless you have all-day stamina. The dinosaur area was not great and yet very crowded with small kids and strollers. The architecture of the building is beautiful. Pay attention to the archways, pillars and ceilings.

What can I say except this place is wonderful! Free entry with options to donate and get good deals on tote bags and guides! I would definitely say to take the whole day for the museum, we had set aside 4 hours and were only able to to the diplosaurus and under half it the museums in that time (stopping for lunch) so if you don't want to rush set aside the whole day, It will be worth it! The museum is very accessible with many accessible toilets and lifts as well as wheelchair hire and is assistant dog friendly. I also saw many large print signs and descriptions and audio tours for those visually impaired . They have hearing loops for hearing aids too. There are also some quiet spaces and quiet mornings for those with sensory difficulties! 10/10 will always visit when I have the chance, the place is amazing
