Went to the bar with friends for a drink only to be told by the door lady the bar was full and all tables were fully booked! We went around the corner to find the beer garden with loads of space and a great band playing. We had a few drinks and a very enjoyable time. It’s sad the door lady did not know there was another part to the bar, I wonder how much custom is lost by her lack of knowledge.

Great old bar plenty of atmosphere and craic. Lovely fire and the best Guinness in Belfast. I didn't have any lunch that time but it's usually very good and reasonable.

Feels like a step back in time -- definitely a fun pub to head to as a tourist. The fire makes it a perfect cozy spot on these bleak winter days. But what's the story with the boots on the ceiling??

White's is claimed to be Belfast's oldest tavern, we popped in for a couple of drinks on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was so welcoming, especially the smell of the real log fire. The guys behind the bar are so friendly and service is quick. Guinness is lovely and the Irish coffees even better. Next time we'll stop for food as it looked amazing! What a beautiful little pub steeped in history. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Belfast

To be fair to whites I only sat in the corridor type bar, the others may be completely different. The food looked decent enough pub grub. My biggest grip is that like many of the bars in Belfast it now seems geared towards tourists. Never thought I would write that sentence. And my other general gripe is the lack of local beer brands. In the city centre only a few serve anything other than what the brewers command. So they all seem the same.

From Australia wanting some Irish traditional experience for our Son. Music was brilliantly authentic, Irish Stew was superb, the noisy chatter of locals created a wonderful atmosphere. Our autistic son loved it which is amazing as noise is usually an issue. Staff are amazing and went out of their way to ensure our experience was excellent 😍😍😍

We visited White's on our little pub crawl this Wednesday evening... There was a great atmosphere for a mid week night, a roaring fire and great service at the bar. We had the sausage and mash with parsnip crisps - this meal really shows the high quality cooking and attention to food detail as there's no where to hide on such a simple dish. The gravy was perfect, with a consistency that can be picked up with your knife! We'd definitely return, thanks everyone🔥🔥🔥

Nice old pub and restaurant. Dimly lit, friendly welcome and authentic features. Decent pint of Guinness. Big roaring fire and authentic Irish folk music, playing over the speakers . Live sport at one end with a fairly small TV. We didn't eat so can't recommend the food.

Loved it! We've been every day of our five day holiday. There's a real fire, live music, and the food is superb! We had the Irish stew, sausage and mash, and the turkey and ham dinner. Everything was spot on, and good sized portions. The bar staff are friendly, and quickly learn what you're drinking, which helps avoid queuing. It's a small space, and you have to have eyes of a rat to spot someone leaving so you can grab their table, if you're staying to eat. It's a really good ambience and totally enjoyable.

Incredible pub and the Oldest in Belfast at that. A great pint of Creamy Guinness by the fire and a few shots of Born Irish is about as close to perfection as you can get.

City centre bar which is traditional and has a great relaxed atmosphere. It is right in the shopping area of town so great to stop off for a quick break. Staff are friendly. Well worth a visit to see a proper Northern Irish pub.

Could be a cool spot but completely ruined by the awful service. Staff hadn't a clue how to manage the orders. Another group had been in drinking and completely wiped out one of the girls at our table right in front of the bar staff spilling drinks all over us in the process. Not the bar staffs fault, but absolutely nothing was said to the group by the bouncers or the floor staff, even after we directly approached them. Better off across the road at love and death, much better atmosphere and you won't be waiting for the turn of the century for average drinks.

Amazing experience. Fire going in the fireplace, baby shower in the back corner, live music, phenomenal food and service. No wonder they have been there since 1630!

Haven't been here for a while but really pleased to see it has survived COVID and hasn't changed a bit. The fire was roaring and the Guinness was as good as ever. My wife had the Buttermilk Chicken starter with fries as a main course and I had the Irish Stew though I think it should be renamed Belfast Stew. It was served with fresh wheaten bread and butter and was wonderful. Will definitely be back.

We have ordered the seafood chower, the 10oz ribeye, and the stew. The ribeye is well cooked and served with fresh fries and tomatoes. The seafood chowder is superb delicious, but the Irish stew is not very good. It is the oldest tavern in Belfast that is established in 1630. Many others order a pint of Guinness, and listen to the music in such a historic place and enjoy the atmosphere.

I guess this is the new part of whites. It has a copy restarant bar inside, or sit outside and people watch. We went during the week it was quite. Didn't buy any food. Bar service was great.

Loved visiting Whites. we had a really good time and tasted the best Guinness in life. Atmo .There is a good atmosphere one of friendliness and joyfulness as the pub generally attracts lots of tourists. I would like to thank the bartender he was amazing and friendly. I Would highly recommend anyone to visit WHITES ❤️

Another must visit pub. A place to have a good chat, a perfect pint of Guinness and to soak up the relaxed atmosphere of Belfast city. It's unlikely you'll leave without first having a great chat and laughs with someone you'll just happen to have say next to.

Could be a great place except Terrible service and I mean awful prepare to never get your food or drinks, watched staff walk by aimlessly as we waited for our poured pints to be dropped to the table. Ended up going up and getting them ourselves. Do not go here if you want good service the staff are genuinely awful. Went here today 19/09/21 at 3 pm so who ever was on this days needs a good lesson in hospitality. Group of 8 girls behind us got served before us even tho we were a pax of two who had order 10/15 minutes before them

Love whites tavern for its location and atmosphere. The Saturday night we were there, the service wasn't amazing and it was fairly difficult for us to get bar staffs attention or a drink. Saying that, craic was great. Menu could do with being looked at as it's more like a children's snack menu as opposed to a beautiful sit down adult menu. Will return in the future.

Great location. Loved the atmosphere; old and cozy. We were too late for meals, so our group of 6 ordered a bunch of stuff from the snack menu. The stew and brie were particularly good.

  • 5/5 Timbovilla 7. 4 years ago on Google
This place is full of atmosphere and cozy. There was a dull red fire glowing in the fireplace and you could sense the smell of peaty coal as you stepped over the threshold. The Guinness was excellent too and all the drinks seemed to be priced reasonably for such a centrally located pub along with such history.

  • 3/5 Kirsten van der M. 4 years ago on Google
The Guinness is no joke the best I ever had. The pub is very cozy and nice to drink some Guinness and maybe some snacks. But that's about it. The waiters are not nice at all. We wanted to have a snack before 6 and that was not possible, but we were allowed to order starters.. and then later we wanted to order dinner but that was only allowed before 6, so we could only order snacks after 6. Really?! Maybe explain that then? And it says that you can pay by card but they only accept cash. It's a strange place.. too bad because it has so much potential. The snacks were good btw.

A bustling bar. The inside was jam packed full of people. A relatively small interior with only a few dozen seats, however there is a large outdoor area on the street (one of the nicer ones at any bar around). While there are heaters outside, they are only by the entrance. The bar has a lot of history. I liked the woodwork.

We had the excellent spare rib starter, and the Irish stew, and lucked into three guitarist playing Irish folk songs and pop songs starting about 8:30 to end a nice day. The tavern has 3 areas and outside with covered picnic tables, a large open bar area, and the old, dark, warm small restaurant area with a wood burning fire where we ate. I was a bit warm, and my clothes still have a whiff of campfire. I would go again.

  • 5/5 Robert H. 1 year ago on Google
Oldest tavern in Belfast! Brick walls solid wood beams with a fireplace and Irish music in the background, need I say more! Simple menu without standing fish and chips and the grilled cheese with local cheddar, was outstanding. Prices are more than reasonable!

  • 5/5 Nathan 2 years ago on Google
Had a bit of a chaotic visit to Belfast but the moment we stepped foot inside the tavern it felt like coming home. The ambience was wonderful, as was Thomas' playlist and ofc Thomas himself who recommended us amazing shots and was very kind and friendly and quite possibly the best bartender I've ever met. Cheers for setting us on an amazing night!

Only downside is it's reeeally outdoors for a place as cold and windy as Belfast. However very cute. I don't really drink alcohol for sports related reasons and bartender slightly panicked at first when I asked for a mocktail. He called the bar manager who moved the whole thing to make me one lol (I am really not picky, it was very sweet of them). If you pass by the city I'd surely recommend it!

  • 5/5 SmithFitAngels 1 year ago on Google
Wow, wow, wow! Amazing spot! The choice of beer is awesome, also for those who don't drink alcohol for many reasons they do have Guinness 0% and Alcohol free cider! 😀 In terms of food choices, Irish stew is an absolute 💯 must! I cannot describe how delicious it was! All the staff were super kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Could be a tiny bit faster, but hey, we are not in a fast food, most common chain, right? 5 out of 5!

The inside of this tavern is like stepping back in time. A lovely place to enjoy a few pints with friends. There was a fire in the fireplace which added to the cozy atmosphere. The live music was a nice touch. We had a meal, there is a decent menu but remember to book your table or you definitely won't get one.

Visited for the first time yesterday. Experienced fabulous service from our waiter, and he made a great recommendations. I had the seabass and my friend had the chowder, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The mulled wine was good to.

Make your way down the uninviting alley (Trust me, it’s safe.) and head through the front door of White’s while it’s still legal to burn peat in Ireland. Ever close your eyes and imagine a quaint Irish pub but with just a wee bit of northern influence? Welcome to White’s, where ordering the cream of cauliflower soup is actually a good idea and the whiskey options are Insta-worthy.
