Ulster Hospital

General hospital

πŸ‘πŸ‘ My dad and daughter have been sent to A&E in the last week by our GP. They both stated they would be wasting staff time but GP was insistent. They were both treated quickly with respect and kindness. This hospital does an amazing job. People often mention staff, nurses, care, hospital, Ulster, time, treated, amazing, doctors, treatment,

I just want to say what an amazing job the nurses do for the patients in the A&E. The nurses are absolutely fantastic and do as much as they can. If I'm honest the NHS is under so much pressure and the on call doctors just send everyone to A&E which adds so much pressure to these people. The only reason I can't comment on the doctors was I was left in agony on a chair for 7 hours with the doctors just walking by me not attempting to help. I was told I couldn't get anymore to help the pain until I seen a doctor, the morning shift change in the morning brought more doctors and I was dealt with in an hour. I didn't see any of the doctors under pressure during the whilst the nurses where constantly helping everyone.

My mum (84) who has MS and dementia was taken by ambulance from Downpatrick to the Ulster hospital today my mum lay in the ambulance in pain for 5 hours then they transferred her to another ambulance as they need the first ambulance for an emergency. At this stage mum was in pain and very confused my sister arrived by car and we took her home. Northern Irish politicians get your act together and sort this mess out. And by the way the ambulance crew were brilliant

Attended A+E at Ulster Hospital this morning. Yes, it took nearly 4 hours but that included having bloods taken, analysed and reported. Everyone I interacted with - receptionist, triage nurse, phlebotomy nurse and doctor were professional and friendly. Thank you to all for the job you do, it’s clear you work in a busy, intense environment.

My treatment was okay - I was poisoned but they don't have a poison control center or anything like it. The male doc I saw first did not believe a thing I said. The female I demanded to see said similar but finally gave me the treatment I needed, thank God. Mostly, I saw a very, very ill elderly woman by herself who was pressured to move by a very snarky, impatient nurse when she could have and should have been treated much more gently. I was treated by nurses inconsistently - going from care to a rush job.

Terrible A&E department. Avoid. A&E department too far away from the main road and hospital entrance, car park was full, literally had to sit during an emergency waiting for someone to leave the car park. A&E was overcrowded & had no seats for dozens of people. Both vending machines and coffee machines were turned off. Plugs were turned off so no way to charge phone. No shop in the building. Over 2 hours just for Triage. Wife went in with stroke symptoms. Done bloods and sent her away with the same symptoms as they had no time to do any scans or get her to speak to a specialist. Terrible treatment.

I cut my hand on a dog food lid in the recycle bin and as it was on my knuckle and quite deep, it would not heal. Visited the Ulster armed with a Kindle to while away the time that I thought I would be spending there on a Saturday morning. After giving my details to reception, I was directed to the Minor Injuries Unit. I was seen immediately and three stitches later I was done. Whole process took less than 30 minutes, fantastic service, just brilliant! Thank you to all concerned.

NEVER ANSWER THE PHONES BUT YET SIT AT DESK WHEN UR UP 😑If the nurses would do less talking at nursing stations maybe things would move faster patients discharged quicker ridiculous health care and hospital why not strike at covid there affecting more people's life health mental health than covid

See so many reviews blaming the staff for the waiting times and lack of service when infact they are doing well beyond the best they can. If you want to shout at someone try shouting at the politicians whom have promised to help the health service but have only helped themselves. Beyond a joke now. Nurses & workers can only do so much. Look to the top end and ask them the questions. Regardless of what sh1t the nurses have been through they always smile and ask if they can do anything to help or will help cheer you up. Honestly we would be lost without everyone in the hospital looking after us. Just imagine how it would look if the politicians took over instead. All left to die as they sit about sipping tea waiting on their next pay rise.

I have been coming here for the past six years to manage my IBD. The IBD nurses are fantastic, especially Gayle Martin who rang me on her day off when I was in a big flare. The main complaint is that I haven't seen my consultant since before the start of the pandemic, but the care I've received from the nurses and gastroenterology pharmacist is fantastic. Thank you ❀️

Understaffed ! New AE opened but my mum with advanced Alzheimer’s was on a trolley for 3 nights and finally got a bed in a ward at 7 pm on day 4 ! If you have no relatives and are elderly you would starve and dehydrate . I fed my mum and helped her drink as it is just left on a tray which my mum couldn’t reach and can’t feed herself … more basic nursing needed . No one changed my mums nightwear or washed her for 4 days . I did but nurses should be doing this . In 4 days I got speaking to a Dr once !

Disgusted with this place totally. Had abnormal ecg and doctor told me come here to A&E department. Packed out the door and no seats. Said to nurse i cant stand or even sit on a hard seat long as im recovering from a serious motorcycle accident losing many bones and brain bleeds plus crushed my left hand and fingers. I need a hip, knee and lost my femur bone also. Nurse told me stand or sit on floor for 12 hrs +. I cant even stand on crutches for an hour. Im at home 3 days later still cant get down heavy snowed in. Plus my wife cant drive in snow but they keep going on to get there knowing my mental health is ruined after crash. My anxiety is shattered but zero care from any of them. Id rather die in my home than go there ever again.

Worst experience of my life, 6+hours, for them to do nothing, except ask me to comeback on Monday for further treatment. Why can't they sort the problem now, that's why they are so full the have everyone coming back. Will definitely rather stay sick then comeback here.

This Hospital is 1 of the best, for professional treatment. I had to attend this Hospital on a very busy Monday. The staff all worked hard to make sure everyone was treated very smoothly and quickly as possible. The catering was busy making sure everyone had enough to eat, including visitors alike. It was an 8 hour Triadge that day which very quick for an over stretched hospital

Currently sitting on a painful chair in β€˜treatment area seating’ getting IV treatment. It’s all very public. I am sitting surrounded by others in the the same undignified position. I know everyone’s names, dates of birth and I know all about the gentleman with clear bloods but who, given his history, they’re going to get cardiologist to look at him! They know all about me. Thank goodness my issues are not vaginal! Humanity does not live here! If this happens again, I might prefer to die before coming back.

Currently a patient in Ward 5A being treated for a sudden infection. I was sent to A&E on Wednesday by my GP. My husband and I arrived at 4.30 pm to the new A&E, packed to the gills with staff run off their feet. The new building is fabulous but it is the staff who really make this place but they are being pushed beyond acceptable boundaries by lack of staff, pay still not being sorted etc. I was in A&E until I got a bed at 1am. During my stay in A&E each and every member of staff were outstanding in their roles. Once on the Ward the standard of care, professionalism, attention to detail continued. The love of the job is evident in every staff member but... Stop blaming staff for delays, lack of beds etc. The only ones responsible are the ones missing from Stormont who threaten this wonderful asset we have because they can't sort themselves out! Something to bear in mind the next time you vote perhaps? Look to the root of the problem and stop pointing the finger at the Healthcare workers who are giving their all day in day out!

The Nero are gangsters I would compare Dr Harley to Harold Shipman this Dr abused me when my arcnoid cyst was hemredgeing in to my face he should not be working there not should the rest of them they are all like Michael watt they cover for one another from top to bottom in broad daylight iv spoken to around half the population who say the same about the nerologey shame on, they need to clean it out and get some genuine dr's,I am walking around helping infants ophans with the front of my skull filled with fluid and being abused and neglected by the nerologey at the Ulster and they are neglecting and hurting people who need help in a position of power and looking for a pay rise they are heroes they are dobble minded , get some gunuine DRS

Neurology and urology must be related, all as useful as a hole in the head. Should shut them down.. Sack of useless so n sos. Nhs filth.. I wonder how many of their patients/victims commit suicide each year due to neglect and prescribing mind altering drugs?

Picking up my sister in law who has cancer. No smoking signs everywhere at entrance but 6 patients and 2 staff members openly smoking. No enforcement what so ever. Totally unacceptable.

Many thanks to all the staff in the EAU unit of the Ulster Hospital. Nurses Shannon, Saheed, Sam, Christine, Deputy Sr Kathleen and Drs Glen & Clare. My dad is 92, frail and elderly with dementia. He and the full and busy unit were all treated with the utmost kindness, respect and professional expertise throughout a busy shift . Thank you for your care.

My experience in the Accident department was a very positive one. Every single team member worked skillfully, effectively and with empathy. Five stars doesn't go anywhere near what these people deserve.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating, parking was relatively quick, bring change to pay for your parking, the new minor injury unit allows patients to be seen quicker in the case of minor injures I.e broken arm or sprains and strains. I cannot fault the staff there is a bit of a wait but as the NHS is strained as it is I'm glad this service is available to anyone who needs it.πŸ˜€

Had the delivery of my son Lucas in the Home from Home ward and I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. Went to the EOU several times and all the midwives were amazing and helpful. I felt heard, taken care of and like we mattered. The room was amazing with the birthing pool, all clean and stocked. So glad to have picked this hospital for the delivery and would 100% recommend it.

Ward 4A Ulster Hospital new Block, What a pity that in 2023 Internet and Mobile Phone quite useless in at least room 12 no signal, Surly it should have been addressed by now, And the Cafe has been out of use, I think it’s ran by One person they must be irreplaceable and the Coffee Machine wouldn't except pound coins now been excepting pound coins again.

Went here to get my tonsils removed when I was younger. As far as I know, the tonsils are still no longer there so I'd say they did a great job! In all seriousness, the staff are professional and have not had a bad experience so far.

I would just like to say thank you to the Trust and the staff of the new minor injuries unit at the Ulster hospital. My son had a football injury and needed to go for an X-ray. We were expecting to have a long wait but we were in and out in 30 minutes. I especially want to mention Gethin who was so well informed and took the time to explain everything to me and my son. Everything was super quick and all staff were lovely. Thankfully my son hadn’t broken anything but is still likely to have a longish recovery time with his ankle. The service from start to finish was first class. Thank you South Eastern Trust.

Worst care I’ve ever had throughout my whole pregnancy and labour, forced to get the epidural when it wasn’t wanted, will never attend Ulster again disgusting not to mention I wouldn’t of needed an emergency c section if they hadn’t of did what they done to me! Stripped me of having a natural birth
