Update June 2023. Returned and had the best chicken wings I’ve ever had followed by the lobster and tomahawk special. OMG amazing. Check out the photos 🤤 Finished off with the salted caramel and chocolate fondant. 10/10 Cool little local produce shop on site too. Sells alcohol, ready meals and bakery produce from the restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous steak sandwich with chips and pepper sauce. Could eat that all day long. My friend had the beef brisket burger and said it was delicious. Cheesecake and apple pie for dessert. Demolished! Staff lovely and friendly too which always make a difference. Can’t wait to come back 🤤

Really fantastic food in a cosy setting. We were seated in thw bar area which in my view is nicer than the main section of the establishment. The food was really excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The sticky toffee pudding is worth going for alone. A good selection of drinks and all at relatively reasonable prices given the quality of the food. Definitely worth a drive to give this place a try.

Poachers Pocket is one of our favourite restaurants. We stopped off on Friday for lunch and as always the food and atmosphere was fantastic. The majority of this visit we were looked after by Reilly. What a lovely young man and a real asset to the Poachers team. His customer service was the best and nothing was too much trouble. Enjoy your new job and thanks for looking after us so well.

One of the best places to eat in N Down. The food uses local seasonal ingredients and is of really high quality. Drinks are well priced and Guinness (always a clincher for me) well kept. Service is really pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere is great with a wood burner for the winter and a sheltered patio for those warmer/sunnier days. The bread served in the restaurant can be bought in the adjacent shop that has some tasty (pricey) deli treats.

Booked a table for seven earlier this week and they placed us right by the front door in a heavy traffic area. There were other large tables available, but for some reason, that’s where they put us even though it would have been nice to be seated inside a little. So my two stars for atmosphere is based on sitting at the front door watching people go to the rear of the restaurant. The lady taking our orders I felt was not attentive and did not pay attention. She brought one carafe of water to serve seven. She took our drinks order but only 6 of 7 drinks were delivered. We went to the bar to ask where the remaining drink was and the two bar men who stood with their arms at one length didn’t know anything about it. My sister asked the lady serving us for the vegetarian menu which arrived… eventually. We placed our order and six meals arrived. My father had the fish which was great. He loved it. My sister had a mushroom risotto which she enjoyed, my mother scampi which was also enjoyed. My wife ordered a pasta dish which was linguini swimming in a vat of oil on oil on oil. You could have poured the oil from the bowl into a bottle with no difficulty. It was an oily mess. So six of the seven meals arrived and when the lady came to check, her question “what are we missing?” Spoke volumes. She went back to the kitchen to bring me my steak and when it arrived I could tell that it was quickly thrown together. The battered shrimp on top were still scalding from the deep fryer. The steak did not have time to rest and the presentation was a mess. The majority of us enjoyed it and that’s the main thing. I decided to have an old fashioned for desert. I need to buy them a cocktail book, bourbon in a glass with ice cubes does not an old fashioned make. I get it, it’s not a cocktail bar, but don’t advertise cocktails if they’re not going to be made correctly. I’ll certainly go back to the Poacher’s Pocket and give it another shot, but I’m not going to rush back or make it a priority. Disappointed and a little let down, but I’ll certainly try again in case it was an off day.

Good food, really lovely restaurant, cosy atmosphere. A bit disappointed with the stick toffee pudding, but it was the only let down.

Very delicious food. A bit more pricey than most places, but the quality justifies the prices. Staff were very friendly and a nice little shop at the front too selling artisan foods. Saw a sign for takeout wood fire pizzas after 5pm so definitely going to have to try those at some point.

Starter and dessert was lovely the main wasn't great the potatoes were cold and the vegetables undercooked as for the beef well it was very fatty the Yorkshire pudding it was very nice definitely the best I've ever had . I told the waitress about my dinner and was told that she'd pass it on to the chef

Visited here today for Sunday lunch with friends visiting us for the weekend. I had the beef, and my wife had the baked cod. For dessert we both had the sticky toffee with one of friends having the cheesecake. All of the food was absolutely superb. Beef was really tender and nice medium rare, and the veg was nice and hot with the cauliflower cheese delicious as well. The sticky toffee pudding was probably the best Sticky Toffee I have ever had, and the sauce to go with it just incredible. Service was really good as well, very quick and staff really nice and friendly. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was one of the best Sunday Roasts they’ve had in a while. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

We have came here for a long time with my mum n dad and my 2 Daughters. Can not fault it, the staff know us and welcome us, the menu changes for regulars throughout the week and the Sunday lunches are fantastic. Food is fabulous. Paul & I bring all our children here now, on a regular basis for Weeknights & Sunday lunches, they all love the menu and the wood fired pizzas are a big hit. Something for everyone.

Every dish was delicious. Staff were attentive. The smoked trout and Korean chicken starters were particularly good. Lots of high chairs and a kids menu but no specific cutlery or crockery for kids so best to bring your own. Plenty of parking and online booking. Pity the pizzas didn’t start until 5pm because they sounded great.

Delicious bean burger with a really lovely homemade tangy burger sauce to go alongside it and crispy skinny fries. Everything so fresh and flavoursome. Lovely brioche bap. My mum had the fish and chips and she said the fish was lovely and white inside which is always a good indicator of quality and fact it’s not bought in frozen. We both really enjoyed it and look forward to our next visit. We stopped in their shop on the premises and got some bacon, ham, scones, sausage rolls and red wine to go. Delicious selection there too! Worth a visit if you are into your cooking as such good quality ingredients!!

Had a very lovely meal with the family. After hearing only great reviews from friends and colleagues over the years we finally gave The Poachers Pocket a go. The quality of the food was exceptional, the setting is so comfortable and cosy and the staff are friendly, professional and efficient. Definitely coming back!!

Excellent food with a elegant yet relaxed feel in the restaurant. Lots of comfort food is available and the booths by the window are very homely. Price matched the quality of the food and the staff were outstanding. We had the beef cheek, chorizo pizza, scampi and open steak sandwich and couldn’t find a single complaint about any of them.

Absolutely fantastic meal, service, atmosphere... All for a reasonable cost. I had the roast beef with all the trimmings. Beef was beautifully pink and tender, crispy roasties, loads of different veggies all nicely cooked and crispy yorkshire pudds and gravy. Chocolate fondant was out of this world. Brian was an excellent waiter.. We will be back.

Absolutely delicious roast beef dinner. And the sticky toffee pudding is simply to die for. Fantastic.

I can't speak highly enough about the meal I had at the poachers pocket last night. Everything on the menu looked delicious and even better when they appeared from the kitchen. I got a stonebaked spicy prawn and sausage pizza cooked to order on site to share which was very tasty. I went for the pheasant main special pictured below. It was one of the finest mains I've ever eaten. Looked beautiful and tasted even better. The little side of mushroom/bacon and onion with sauce in a pot was divine. The dessert was a very high quality sticky toffee pudding and icecream. All in all a top experience. The service was really good also and not overly expensive for the quality of food on offer. The only negative was I couldn't try everything on the menu.

I enjoyed my Sunday lunch here and would highly recommend. It's situated in rural idyllic surroundings and obviously has a regular clientele being surprisingly busy considering where it is situated. They are obviously doing something right. There was a nice buzz about the place, very good layout of the tables and a very good atmosphere. However I really enjoyed my starter and sweet with ample helpings but my main course left me with a little to be desired. I ordered the Sunday roast beef with Yorkshire pudding asking for my beef to be well done. It turned out to be under done and difficult to chew and eat. Also I did not like the way the Yorkshires were presented. It's a pity because otherwise it was a very enjoyable dining experience with my family and would not put me off going back. The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. I would definitely go back and try something else from the menu and would highly recommend anyone to try a visit. It's an enjoyable experience.
