Heaven on earth!

Among all the places on earth which can be compared to heaven, Bethsaida Hermitage is one! There is absolutely nothing that even the pickiest of travellers would be able to criticize. We would keep coming back to Bethsaida, just as often as possible.. Especially for the owner Mr. Thomas, who has become our daughter's beloved Thomas Uncle. Thank you Thomas for the few lessons and wonderful memories you gave to your little friend. You have played an important role in shaping a good human out of her in just 2 days. We look forward to her ( and also us) learning a lot from you.

Location of the property is excellent. It has a private beach right in the property and has 2 large swimming pools. The rooms were large in size and even the attached bath and the closet area were extra large in size. However, as the name of the hotel indicates, this is not to be confused with regular resorts that cater to holiday goers / vacation seekers. This place has NO entertainment. There are NO TVs in the room... nor are there any worthwhile entertainment options for kids. But it appears the hotel's primary client base is international travelers who are here in India seeking Ayurvedic treatment... hence the food will also be very bland without much options. So, choose this place only if you are okay with the limitations/restrictions of this place (as the motto is more towards rejuvenation rather than fun) and okay with the excellent location and the spaciousness. In short, for an Indian family vacationer looking for a fun and comfortable resort stay, this is not the place. However, we still enjoyed the beach views, spacious rooms, swimming pools and managed food outside. I would rate this place 3.5 out of 5, but google decimal allow decimals, so I chose 4/5.

Location is just at the beach, quiet and calm place. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Be prepared for lots of big red ants and few lizards in the room. All rooms are sea facing with beautiful sea view. Only 2 hotels have access to the beach in front of this hotel. There is always a life guard from the hotel at the beach who helps us to go deep in sea. Buffet food is all veg. For Ala -Carte order at restaurant at least 2 hours in advance. overall the restaurant food is good.

This is the most sustainable, well-kept and just beautiful resort we have seen in Kerala! My wife and I stayed in Bethsaida in the first week of May 2022. We found the place on the Booking.com and were skeptical because it was new there and it has not yet get any reviews. Yet, we decided to try! And it was one of our best vacation choices ever! From the moment you come through the gate you are finding yourself in the tropical paradise, you can hear the ocean right away. The territory of the resort is very clean and well kep with the direct access to the beach, there are numerous medicinal plants growing in the garden which are used for in-home Ayurveda treatment. Most of the fruit and vegetables, as well as meat served in the restaurant comes from their own farm located in the resort. What appealed to us most is the family feeling there: most of the workers have been working there for years giving the place unique soulfulness and spirit. And our special attention went to the owner Frederick Thomas who checks in on guests every day, he is one of the most interesting and kind-hearted people we met in our life.

Great view, the resort is setup on the entire hill which meets the sea and has an almost private beach with lifeguard. Sea Waters were crystal clear. Complimentary breakfast had tons of options to choose from. Dinner buffet has limited options for someone looking for an Indian cuisine. We were charged an additional comission fees as we booked through an online travel site which was a disappointment. The swimming pool was well maintained and not congested. Had additional floaters for kids to use.

This place is heaven on earth! Right from the property ambience to the extremely courteous staff. They stick to their tagline 'feels like home'. You do not feel like leaving the place as each and every staff at the property makes you feel at home. This was our first visit and am sure we would do many more. You will see that a lot of guests that arrive at the property have been visiting them from the past 10+ years. Not surprising, as the place makes you want to go back! Waiting for the time that we plan and visit them again!

The location is just otherworldly. No wonder more than 90% of the tourists are foreigners. My experience on a family vacation was memorable. Still, there are many shortcomings which can be easily addressed by the management Pros 1. Location. Views of the beach are spectacular. 2. Polite staff. 3. The pool area is well maintained. 4. Nice lighting at night. 5. Hammocks and other facilities are nicely done. 6. Decently priced for standard rooms and food. 7. The room interiors and furniture were nice. 8. Hygienic bathrooms. Cons 1. Preference for the foreign customers. They are the potential customers but almost everything(food, room locations etc)looks planned and curated to suit the European tourists. In some places the instructions are displayed only in foreign languages. 2. Restaurant can do much better with the service. The waiting time for a la carte orders can go up to 2 hrs during dinner and also they don't provide room service. I feel 1 restaurant is too small to manage. 3. Bathrooms are hygienic and well maintained but not kid friendly (potty seats are too big) 4. Ayurvedic diet based buffet. One may like it if they are health-conscious otherwise most of the dishes are bland and difficult to eat. 5. Communication with staff is not as easy as most of them, including reception don't understand English. 6. Expect Lizards and spiders. Despite all these, I would highly recommend the scenic views it offered. Best for a peaceful & memorable vacation getaway.

Very good place to spend a couple of days. Definitely recommend. The place was on top of a small cliff overlooking the beach, and there is amazing view of the beach from everywhere. We took non AC rooms as it was much cheaper compared to AC rooms, but it turned out to be a good decision as we never felt the need for an AC. The rooms are sea facing and at a good height, so there is plenty of sea breeze. There is ample greenery inside the property and you can easily spend half a day roaming around inside. Restaurant serves really tasty food, and we did not even feel like looking for options outside. There are performances of Wednesdays and Saturdays, but don't expect that to be outstanding. There are 2 large pools, and they are well maintained. The views from the pool is also really amazing. There is beach access at the centre of the property, and they provide you basic amenities like mats and umbrellas. There is lifeguard service during day time, and they are really helpful and friendly. Special mention to the awesome guidance and help of our lifeguard Godwin. The service is also outstanding, and people right from the owner to the restaurant support staff seem genuinely interested in your well being during your stay. That is something I have not experienced, even at Taj properties. Overall, a superb experience. PS: you will find the climbs inside the property a bit steep, and might not be easy for elders to move around.

Bethsaida Hermitage was a wonderful experience. The location is mind-blowing and view from various points makes you stand in awe of God's creation. The place is very well maintained - A/C rooms are spacious and very comfortable with TV and Kettle; bathrooms clean and large, bed and bath linen spotlessly clean. Experienced the relaxing ayurvedic massage as well and was very satisfied. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful - special mention needs to be made of Freethu, Shiny and Riji who went out of their way to see that our every request was attended to. A couple of suggestions to make everyone happy (1) The buffet is completely vegetarian and one non-veg item can be added; and (2) Additional Housekeeping staff should be hired because nobody answer the phone and we had to call the reception for assistance and they immediately obliged. Missed eating seafood inspite of the resort being right on the beach, also typical Kerala appam and chicken stew. On the whole, a memorable stay. Thanks

I had a nice experience at Bethsaida resort. I stayed here for close to 5 days. The place offers a perfect scenic view and relaxing experience. The resort has a private beach that adds a charm to your stay. It offers various ayurvedic courses that’s why you might find most of the customers are foreigners primarily Europeans. This place is for those who like to relax in a peaceful way. Please don’t expect loud music or party atmosphere. Lastly, a special mention that the staff here is really courteous and polite be it restaurant staff or the housekeeping. They made sure my stay was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this resort if you want some peacetime away from the hustle of the city life.

Sad is what I will define this property. I booked this for 2 days during the weekend which costed me 25k and I was shocked to see the property. It’s nothing like it’s pictures. In original, there is a 5 storey building and you will placed on one of the rooms (you won’t see those pictures anywhere). The staff responsible for booking and changing the rooms was not available so we had to checkout as we were so disappointed. There are disjointed bed made to look like a double bed which make creeping sound. The sofas are leather where you won’t dare to sit in Kerala’s heat. And to add to the above there is no room service. So don’t get carried away by the pictures of this place. It’s fake!

Feels like coming home. I start my second review with these words again, because it’s not just the words, it’s not just the slogan of the hotel. It’s how this place is run. Warm, kindness, care, love, smile, delicious healthy food, safety, sincerity, relaxation, trust - all this came to my mind during this year when I was thinking of my last autumn vacation here. I traveled a lot all over the world, but this place I miss so much as I do my home. There is something special here. Everything is made and organized in Bethsaida with big love and soul. Everything here is thought-out to the very smallest detail. I am so happy to come back here again with my mother and kids. I am so glad to see familiar faces and sincere smiles of people who work here. It’s so enjoyable moments during ayurvedic treatment and yoga sessions, so nice varied food in the restaurant from organic garden, so spacious clean comfortable rooms (I stayed in different places in this area of same price level, the accommodation here in the best), great service everywhere, so nice people from different countries. It’s difficult to meet someone who comes to Bethsaida for the first time. People come again and again. Even more than 20 times! My kids are so happy being here, so relaxed, it’s like the safest place. Beautiful nature, ocean sound, great view from every point. This time here I could see even more nice details. How many plants and flowers are in the hotel, it’s one big the most beautiful garden!; how the territory is well-kept; how the hotel is organizing the celebrations (big beautiful flowers carpets (one was made all night long) were everywhere in hotel during Onam festival); how each table is served always in the restaurant that guests could choose where to seat (even when there are no many guests in low season); how the fresh drinking water is provided daily everywhere in hotel even in the parts where no one lives at the moment for the case if anybody from the guests will go for the walk there and need some water; how the restaurant served full Ayurvedic buffet one day when every guest was invited to one big celebration with great food for the case if anybody still wants to stay with buffet; how the management and the staff are attentive to everyone guest. Generosity, care and discreet attention are everywhere. Thank you dr Frederick for creating this paradise for people, for this beautiful atmosphere, for this ‘something special’, for Bethsaida soul. Thank you for inviting all guests for big, amazing, exceptionally beautiful wedding reception (1000 people) to see this magnificence and to be the part of your family. Of course it’s not easy to travel as before due to economic and political situation, exchange rate fluctuations, but the mental and physical health, touch for beauty, full relaxation, positive vibes and thoughts, great emotions, being on nature I would never never regret to experience. 10 from 10!!! Fabulous stay and an absolutely stunning property with views of the sea. Everything was top notch right from the service to the rooms and food. All the staff members are extremely courteous and will make sure they do everything to make us feel at home. Definitely a place that I would like to come back often. It's the best beach side resort in India. Forget Taj, Leela, Any property elsewhere it's the best. Just at the entrance you start loving the amazing view, at par hospitality at front desk, rooms are great in size and facility. Arabian sea view from rooms is amazing. Private beach is best place to be at inspite of going to other beaches at kovalam. Satvik food is good but bland. In room dining not an option. Great picturesque place. Must visit pocket friendly place. Owner is gentle and helpful.

The whole trip was too awesome. Stayed here with family. Location is such a sceneric and beautiful with private beach available. Food was too good and very tasty. Staff all are very friendly and try to make the stay as comfortable as possible. A highly recommend for stay near kovalam. They have spl Ayurveda packages to for someone interested!

The property is away from the hustle bustle of the city nestled among trees of different kinds and the sea battering it's one side. The rooms are great with perfect sea view. The staff is very helpful. Come here for a relaxing weekend or a week.

This is a small paradise on earth. Truly a wonderful welcoming, body and mind healing experience. The staff are welcoming and true people. Everything about this place is just perfect: the sound of the waves from the private beach, the eagles gliding in the wind and the sound of the palm trees are just some of the peaceful characteristics of this place.

This is a must visit property.. situated on side of arabian sea, this property is serene and very peaceful... Right from the moment we entered and till the time we checked out, the experience was surreal. From welcoming and cheerful staffs to the location of the resort, from the amenities available to arrangements made, everything was up to the mark. We hope to revisit here in near future, possibly for a longer stay. Kudos for the chef n his team for preparing very tasty dishes.. very friendly staff who are always ready to help... I recommend everyone to experience the beauty of Bethsaida hermitage..

Excellent - Excellent - Excellent! There is no faulting this 5 star Resort. Staff, location, accommodation, Ayurvedic treatments and packages, food - absolutely perfect. This is a place to really relax, refresh and restore your health to 100%. I don't think I have ever been anywhere in the world where everything is just so perfect. You will not regret coming here and I shall definitely be going back!
