One must carry a good quality camera with zoom capability. Considering the price of the boat ride it's a little higher for couples. They offer 3 different rates, starting from ₹2500 to ₹4000. Which is pretty high for couples because there's no boat sharing option. You have to take your own boat and pay the full price. We were 2, me and my wife and we paid ₹3500. However if you are in a group the same amount gets divided within all group members and it becomes cheaper. In the whole ride they will drop you on a beach for free minutes. The beach was beautiful. The second halt is on a flooring restaurant on preference, you may have some food there. The price is high quality off food average. Finally you come back with the same canal you want. The wild pineapple tree was something I had never seen. The fruits were floating but not edible. In the end I recommend everyone to enjoy the experience.

Cost is literally high for two people Reason: as they say it includes 12 spots which is Rs.4500 but literally there are no such spots. what we saw was only backwaters with waterless mangrove forest and birdless sanctuary. The only enjoyable thing was the ride honestly. Kinda scam😭

Mangroves, the journey through the mangroves is amazing and is connected to the sea (Golden sand beach) Floating restaurants and rooms are special attraction over here The tour providers will confuse you with those 1 hour, 1.5 hour, 2 hour packages. Don't fall prey for all those and choose only 1 hour package. Some key attraction points are Natural Elephant rock, Tamilnadu border, floating restaurant and mainly Golden sand beach (The sky blue color water with white bubly foam, Coarse sand😍)

The place was good. But at the beginning of the boat ride, they had set the expectations so high that i could not find it. One time watch for sure.

It is very beautiful place, we enjoyed the boat ride very much, boat goes through the neyyar river and between mangrove trees and will reach the Golden sand beach, where we can see arabian sea one side and river one side. It will be beautiful to watch. And we can see elephant rock, floating cottages, floating resutarants in the middle of the river etc. Over all experience was very nice and they have charged Rs. 3000 for 2 hours ride, 1 hour to go and 1 hour for return. Amid the heat of everything we go through in a busy city life, if you wish to take a break in serenity and silence, then here is a place to visit, especially during week days, there wouldn't be much crowd, and the vast wild beach waves takes all our attention. However during weekends, it is pretty crowded and noisy. There is enough parking space outside and also has adequate cleanliness. Dining at the Old coffee house gives a nice sea side view while eating. Altogether such a beautiful place to spend the evenings!!!

Mangrove forest was a feel good place. Golden beach also neat and enjoyable but ticket price is so high.

Boat ride is amazing. We pass through the coconut plantation, mangroves and natural forest. Points are mother mery statue, holy cross, elephant rock and the end of the ride is towards where backwaters meet Arabian sea. Nice experience. One hour ride is charged at 700 rupees but negotiable and we ended up paying 500 rs per person.

Absolutely amazing experience in boating in lake to reach golden sand beach of arabian sea. Many movies shooting has been done here, Sereny is absolutely amused and thrilled. One should go for it if he love to experience. Furthermore you need to see Beach (Golden sand beach) and back water poovar,one has to go through this only. Floating restaurant, floating boats in lake you can experience. Beach is just on another level. Calm and peaceful atmosphere and you just sit there and spend few minutes there. Best moments

Just went for a boat ride from Leela backwaters. Jagan the boat driver was a very nice person and showed all the sites and as he is a native of the place he knows the backwaters like the palm of hand. Better go for early morning or late afternoon boat rides or it can get pretty hot. The backwaters are mysterious and have all shades of green. The Neyyar river was clean and beautiful. And the sand bar pristine.

Nice place to visit in a boat facility available there. But Bargain they will ask you Rs.3500-5000 but u can bargain from 1000-2000. It's like u r going through jungle with a boat. There r so many boat dealers .check atleast 3 . They will say that this is the rate decide by govt. But govt has nothing to do with this.

Poovar mangroves boat ride is an experience that one must enjoy !! Very nice highland and elephant rock !! We could not enter to get ourselves wet because of high tides in the beach !!

Superb area to see around. The part of boat ride is awesome. The boat takes us through the mnagroves and you can see some bird species which you may haven't seen before. And the time when boat goes through the tunneling trees makes an awesome view.

It was a weekend spent well. Had a quality time with my family taking stunning boat ride through the mangrove forest on the neyyar lake. Boating is definitely expensive but that's the rate throughout Poovar. I paid 4k for 2 .5 hrs of boating. Barely 20 mins stop at the beach which was closed due to the rough sea. The hawkers at the beach side are waiting to slaughter poor tourist with charges well over the MRP rates printed on many of the items. Spent like 400 rupees for tendor coconut, biscuits and packetted items.

Very nice activity in Poovar. We visited off-season and paid Rs 3200 for a motor boat. We easily spend around 2 hrs till sunset and very very happy. The golden sand beach is very clean and can spend enough time there. The mangrove forest is just 20 mins while you spend most of the time like regular boating. The floating restaurants are very very expensive and can be avoided.

Amazing.... Praveen was our boat captain who explained every bit during the ride. We saw mangroves (poison fruit which looked like mango), kingfisher, water crow, Australian swan, Indian swan, water snake (nothing to worry about as they are non poisonous), sangam of river & sea and ride between small channels.

Head straight to Golden Sand Beach in a shared boat and spend time there. Rest of the points are just hyped and waste of time. You will get eatables, drinks, rides etc at the beach and feel great.

This was one he'll of an experience. The backwaters have my heart now. It was pure bliss to have a chance to connect with nature in it's purest form. The flora and fauna would take you away from the chaos of city life. It was a 1.5 hour ride which had 10 kms of backwater boating, golden sand beach sight seeing, in lake refreshments were avialbale like pineapple, cucumber and tender coconut. I saw elephant rock and a mother Mary statue as well.
