The Mandala Ou Resort is only a few minutes from the bus station and about a 10-minute walk from the "village center" (where all the bars and guesthouses are) - we loved being away from the other tourists! Great location and super quiet with an amazing view of the river. The breakfast is very good and the menu has many delicious options. Also, a big bonus: they offer free water in aluminum bottles!!! Nic, how wife Noi-Noi and the staff are helpful and kind. Highly recommended!

Couldn’t recommend a stay here more!! I’m backpacking so it’s definitely not the sort of place I’d usually stay, but friends of mine were staying and I decided to book a night in between a camping trip and a long bus journey as a treat. It is the MOST relaxing, laid back and lovely place to stay and unwind!! Beautiful decor everywhere, amazing food, the pool overlooks the river making it even more relaxing and the staff are just amazing!!! I had a really bad experience with a public bus when I left and the staff here went above and beyond to make sure I was safe and help me get back to Nong Khiaw. Kenny the manager even offered me a room at a discounted price and took such good care of me when I returned. Another night at this gorgeous place was just what I needed to get over the bad experience and make a new plan to move on :)

We spent an amazing time in Mandala Ou Resort. The resort is located very close to the center of Nong Khiaw and is like a beautiful jungle oasis with a stunning view on the river and the mountains behind. The room and public area is very clean and designed with a lot of love. Host and staff are very kind with great recommendations for daily trips and they're always up for an interesting chat. They provide free bicycles, which is the perfect way to discover the city and area around. We really hope to get another chance in the future to come back here. Kind regards, Lara & Tim

Had lunch here after a hike. The fried fish fillet was excellent and menu was very well priced. The staff were very friendly and were happy for us to sit by the pool for free. We stayed here all afternoon as they made us feel so welcome. Wish we could have stayed here!

We had the most amazing time in mandala ou. The owner is German and his wife Lao and both are really friendly and welcoming. Also the staff was super lovely. We stayed for one night, did a two day hiking trip and came back afterwards for 2 nights which was super easy and they stored our luggage for free what was really nice. The rooms are the most beautiful ones we had on our 2 months of traveling and they have hot water bottles for cold feet 😍. The pool is small but has a wonderful view. The restaurant is really pretty and not too expensive. The hotel is a little bit outside of the center but they have some bicycles that you can take for free, what is super useful. We could have stayed here much longer. When you are a nature loving person, you will enjoy a variety of viewpoint hiking trails closeby. It was one of the Highlights on our trip. Thank you for everything!

We’ve been traveling for 2 months mostly staying in budget hotels and guest houses, so we decided to splurge one night on Mandala and we’re SO happy we did! The property is tucked away in the trees with a nice view of the river, it’s very peaceful. The room was beautiful and clean. All of the staff was very nice- Nick, the man working at reception, even made a point to remember our names. I wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend!

Incredible location, spacious rooms and very friendly and accommodating staff. The pool was particularly welcome, but almost everything about Mandala Ou is high quality. The food at the restaurant was also top-notch. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about the local area. While staying there we took a tour up the river run by Mr Wan, who works at the hotel - this was a real highlight for us and is hugely recommended. The resort is a little out of town, but right next to the bus station, which is very useful when checking out. Being out of town means it's also very quiet and peaceful. The one downside is the lack of air conditioning in the room, which you would normally expect at this price point - however this is to be expected in more remote places like Nong Khiaw. Have been recommending Mandala Ou to friends and family should they ever find themselves in Laos, and hope to visit again in the future.

About the restaurant: lovely atmosphere, friendly people and very nice food! Loved their curries. Good red wine!
