Amazing place, you have to check out the remnants of this power station. Probably one of the coolest hikes you can ever take. The elevator up/down is fantastic!

Not much here. It was closed when I got here but the views are pretty looking towards the water and the canadian side.

Takes you down to a wonderful area, itโ€™s the bottom floor of the Niagara gorge and it takes you right to where the maid of the mist docks. Hike or take the elevator back up itโ€™s very very nice for all ages.

Looking for a place to get closer to the water, then be sure to check out Schoellkopf Power Station. It's a obscure looking building, but don't let that fool you. Go inside, take the elevator down and begin to explore. Once you get off the elevator, walk down towards the water (it looks like Maid of the Mist). There are walking trails to the left and right. You won't be disappointed!

Interesting history. ๐ŸงNice hike๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ along the river past chunks of ruins.๐Ÿ˜ฒ This was especially interesting for me because one of the original Maid of the Mist boats is there. My Dad took me on that boat 40 years ago! It looks so small compared to the huge ferry โ›ด๏ธ type in use today. The entrance to this ruin is a brick elevator building right on the cliff edge of the river, located across from the police ๐Ÿš“ station near the parking lot of the Niagara aquarium๐Ÿ . This is also right where the tram stop is and the Niagara shuttle bus stop which operates on weekends and also connects to the campground and the Erie canal locks.

Disappointed. Thought there was more to this attraction. After the elevator to the ground level, there is a big mural that explains the history of the plant and the disaster that eventually closed it. Nothing else to see. Walked to the water and it is now a parking station for the Maid of the Mist. Do not go out of your way to visit this site.

I was disappointed that the hiking center looked basically abandoned, but this was a very nice consultation find. My five year old loves pushing the buttons on elevators so it was a huge win, and seeing the heavy equipment the maintenance crew uses on the Maid of the Mist boats was very cool.

We visited the station by accident yesterday. We planned to follow the trail to see the Niagara Power Project. But the long walking had made us exhausted. So eventually we did not go to the power project, but attracted by the Schoellkopf Power Station. It was about 5 or 6pm when we got to the station after a whole day's tourist visit. It's not an attractive visiting site as we was passing by the small building. Thanks for our curiosity that we peeked in the room and saw the sign "we are openned". So we opened the door and slipped in carefully because we were still not sure what this "torn", " old" and "discarded" small building was for. As we saw the photos and exposes, we were sure it was a "museum". Then we hesitated to wait for the elevator to take us down. We were still feeling unsure whether we could go down and what we could see down there..... Ok, I will stop here and leave you alone to experience your own journey. To me, it's an amazing visit. I had never expected that I could learn so much here. I will say, I would feel regretted if I were not there. To me, it won't be a perfect journey to the falls without this stop.

I went down the elevator to the bottom of the gorge, where a fascinating infographic was placed along the original wall of the power station. However, I found the place otherwise uninteresting due to a lack of more information and nothing else provided to visitors.
