A local favourite. Parking and visitor centre are within easy reach of trails. There are multiple trails to explore. Nature Trail, River Trail, Whirlpool Trail, Boulder Trail, and others all offer a variety of distance, strength, and pacing. These trails are intended for those aware of risk or understand a variety of trail conditions. Rain, ice, snow, and melt all create hazardous conditions not suitable for young, independent explorers. From November to May the Whirlpool Trail is often closed because of high water conditions on the Niagara River. At no point should you explore or wade into the Niagara River. In fact, several lives have been lost because visitors did not appreciate or understand the risks. If heights scare you be mindful of staircases and ledges. The natural history and geology of the reserve offers climbers the chance to boulder. In the summer, cool caves and tree cover make a great place to hide from the heat. Get yourself an annual Niagara Parks Parking Pass ($75 CAD) and enjoy the convenient parking all year. This pass let’s you park in any of the Park’s parking lots for a full year from date of purchase. The Niagara Glen Nature reserve also is a great place to fish during migration periods (spring & fall). This place is also home to some of the most ancient trees and woodlands in Canada. Please don’t pollute. Only take photos and leave only a sense of gratitude. This is a national treasure.

One of my favourite hiking spots! Trails include easier hikes and more difficult hikes. Beautiful view of the water! - Just don’t be dumb, keep your distance.

Great hikes. A lot of trees make it totally shaded in the summer. Great rocks all over the place between the trees making it quite the unusual forrest hike. The gushing water of the river also adds magic to the hike. a lot of sounds of birds and insects. Was almost devoid of people with a sharp contrast to the other attractions of the Niagra Falls. Really recommended!

Amazing place to hike! Not too challenging but you must be mobile. Great views of the Niagara river and can even see the jet boat go by if it’s running. Trails are marked so it’s easy to navigate.

Absolutely gorgeous place!!! Beautiful nature, scenic views of the Niagara river! This place has many different amazing hiking trails. It’s quite busy on the weekends but on the weekdays you can enjoy this incredible place. If you like rock climbing, the Niagara Glen Nature Centre is perfect place for your training. So grab your lunch and proper hiking shoes and enjoy your day there. I always have a great time and many pictures

Such an amazing experience. The trail is good and easy. Just take few minutes to understand the map first and choose the most comfortable path. You will be able to see serene views. Make sure to take the first right after the stairs for the shortest path to whirlpool riverside. Very good spot for taking the photos. I will say go during the day time. Wear comfortable clothes. Do not wear jeans and fancy clothes. This is a trail not a fashion show.

My favorite place to hike in the fall. Its well marked and can connect with the whirlpool trail. Total 10km. Highly recommend to wear hiking books and bring your trekking poles if you're a bit concerned with the steps or uneven rocks. Once you descend to the riverbank, it'll be easier and flatter. It is the most interesting and fun trail to hike in my opinion. Also, if you are planning to take your time, it's better to buy a pass than paying hourly parking. Enjoy.

Everyone should hike the trails here at least once, even better in the fall. The lookout fog views in the morning at the upper part were spectacular. The scenery along the way descending to the river was beautiful. The river views were magnificent. The trails are rated moderately challenging, and they definitely are. The Whirlpool trail section was closed due to high water level.

I love this hike. not too strenuous and not too long, but it took you through some different terrain. lots of rocks and towards the end, it was an uphill climb. we hiked the main loop and tried to do it in under an hour, since we only paid for an hour in the lot. once we made it to the river, we tried to take one of the short cut trails, but didn't see where it connected back to main loop so we had to turn around. because of this we didn't make it in under an hour, but also didn't get a ticket. we hiked this during the American thanksgiving break so the restrooms were unfortunately closed for the season.

Very nice scenic trail. Can get a little rocky so ankle length hiking shoes are recommended. There are iron steps to access the trail, which was difficult to walk on for our dog so we had to carry her, although a few dogs were okay climbing.

Great place for a day hike! There is parking available at the top of the cliff and many different trails you can take depending on your skill level 🙃 Wear your hiking shoes or a really good pair of runners!! You're gonna need them!

We've done a medium amount of hiking over the years in NY state, and this might be my fave hike so far! The main loop took around 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace. Visitor center nice, too. Be sure to wear your hiking shoes as there's plenty of up and down and rocky terrain. We arrived around 11am on a holiday weekend and we almost didn't find parking. Thankfully there were just a couple of spots left. It's a metered lot in front.

Was a beautiful hike - if you like hiking, this is the place to go. Has a moderate to harder trail for hiking and has amazing scenic views throughout. Would definitely recommend hiking boots for this trip - you could make this into a half day to full day experience if you really wanted to! Great views! If you don't like stairs, don't do this hike!

What a beautiful spot! So glad we decided to take the scenic route! The pictures don't do it justice! We had such a great time visiting the falls that we're going back next weekend! We highly recommend taking the scenic route around the Falls! So worth it!

Having visited Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-lake many times, I am introduced to this park for the first time by a friend and enjoyed the Main Loop hiking trail very much. I did not know for so many years there is such a charming park with very good moderate difficulty trails that rival some of the provincial parks. For sure I will come back to hike all the trails. As well this is an extremely popular place for rock climbing lovers, I saw so many of them, young and energetic. With them all the luck.

Really great place for hiking and bouldering! If you plan on bouldering here, you need to get a pass (they checked for ours). Note that the office to activate your pass doesn't open until 10am so if you get there for an early morning climb, you may be stopped and will have to wait for the office to open before going down.

This is a VERY cool place. The trail head starts with a metal staircase (80 steps total) that take you down to the main trail. To find the trail head, look for the visitor center. If you're facing the visitor center, look to your left for a large pavilion. Follow the sidewalk past the pavilion until you get to the cliffs edge This is where you'll find the metal staircase. We took the blue trail loop. That took us about an hour and 15 minutes, taking our time and stopping often for beautiful views of the river. There are some gigantic boulders along the way as well. If you don't want to do the entire outer loop (the blue trail), there are 2-3 trails you can take to shorten the trail and cut back to the blue trail. Stop in at the visit center to pick up a very detailed map. NOTE: Be aware that they have two trails using blue markers. One blue market has what looks like a tree on the round marker, while the other has what looks like a stop watch. We got "lost" at one point because we didn't notice they used two different blue markers for the trails. The trails are well measured with colored, round "discs" (about 6" across"). It's really impossible to get lost on the trails.

Very nice scenic trail. To get to the bottom of it and up it’s difficult. I know lots people write easy hike but if you don’t hike on regular basis it’s tough. I saw all ages on the trail but again it depends on your athletic level. Trail is close to the edge of the cliff if you have little children remind to stay off the edge. There’s also long metal stairs that you have to take. But over all enjoyable experience and amazing views. I totally recommend it in the fall with the leaf changing colour. It’s amazing.

One of the best places to go for a hike in southern Ontario. We absolutely love it here, a little challenging in places, so be aware, but overall just a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with friends or family. We try and make it down at least once a year and have never been too disappointed. Every season deserves a visit. Never too busy, except a few times we've ran into large groups that hog the trail, but nothing that would even take a star off of the review.

Visited Niagara Glen in 2016. Great hiking experience. Can be a little rocky at times. But the view of the river is great. My dog JJ loves it!

Gorgeous place. Can be quite challenging in areas. Especially the whirlpool trail. I wouldn't suggest going on a hot/humid day it gets very hot down in the forest area. Only have to pay for parking. No tickets needed to get down to the trails.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! The nature, the huge rocks that rise creating a kind of cliff made by the Niagara River in million years. Clean pathes for people, kids and pets. A real immersive experience into a pure environment where you can feel the sense of respect between human beings and the wood itself.

I went to Niagara Falls for a few days and decided to hike here. I do not regret my decision. It was challenging, but worth it. Such a beautiful place to hike. If you are a solo female traveler like myself, you will be okay hiking here. It was extremely safe. It could be a little challenging if you are a new to hiking, but not impossible. Also, the views are just wow. I would do it again without a doubt.

Great hiking. A bit confusing as there were no signs to indicate which way to exit the trails to the main road. Otherwise great hiking. Hiking shoes or boots are highly recommended.

The trails are lovely, there are multiple trails to choose from.. the best trail was the purple line to the whirlpools... its a scenic trail & not too difficult. However it's best to avoid the trails if it rains.

Absolutely breath taking view of the translucent blue gushing waters of the Niagara River! The hike is well marked all along and worth every decent down under. Easily accessible by Niagra GO train and North Wego bus thereafter.

The trail is too good. It's a little moderate and would recommend hiking shoes as there are stones in between.

We didn't expect it to be so beautiful, or how close we would be to the river! Hiked the main loop trail at a leisurely pace, little over 2 hours. Definitely a moderate level hike!! Very grateful for recommendation to grab walking stick by stair base.

This place is just so pretty. An amazing example of how gorgeous Ontario is! The location sits at the top of the Niagara gorge with impressive vistas of the canyon and blue/green river below. There's a manicured picnic area with outdoor BBQs up top complemented by limited parking at $5/60 min. Venture down an intimidating staircase and you're rewarded with rugged hiking terrain comprising massive bolders (a pastime for many visitors), natural stone staircases, forest, and a beautiful river walk. There are lots of trails to explore with terrain suitable for a novice hiker. We completed ours in 3 hours with a few lengthy detours and waterside pit stops. Recommend you bring water and a small pack to carryout any litter you bring in (soda cans, water bottles, etc).

Such a beautiful hike! I would say it’s moderately difficult, as there are quite a lot of steep areas, and climbing/going down rock “stairs” (which aren’t all “formal” stairs so they’re not as easy - definitely watch your step). I love that it’s free (other than parking) and no reservation is required. There are maps in the main building that you can take with you and a map by the start of the trail. I love that there area many smaller trails connecting the “Main Loop” trail, so that if you want or need to cut your hike short, you can. The trails are also marked so you know where the path is, although a few times it was a bit difficult to find the marking and we had to look around. Be careful if you’re bringing young kids though, as there is no fencing and some parts of the Main Loop trail do come close to the cliff’s edge. It’s such a scenic trail though, it felt like I was in a fairytale! I would definitely come here again!

I would have never have suspected such a nice hiking trail given the well manicured park at the top of the escarpment. A very short trail but if you go during off hours, you forget you're in a super touristy area. Trails quite rocky/technical and really unique rock formations for Ontario.

This is an incredible place to go hiking. When you journey down through this majestic rocky forest, you will experience the full power of Niagara Falls when you reach the Niagara River at the bottom. Enjoy!
