Walking across the rainbow bridge from Canada to USA is awesome. Gives you great central view of the Niagara Falls. Be ready to have $1 change either US or Canada to use the pedestrian access. Carry your passport and other relevant documents as you will be crossing over an International border.

GORGEOUS view while walking/driving into Canada and back. Access is through the back of Niagara Falls State Park parking lot 1 (parking $15). Follow the “pedestrian crossing” signs. ONLY CROSS through the metal gate if you have the proper documentation to get back into the US, a valid passport. There are signs up warning not to cross without proper documentation. To enter Canada have ArriveCAN code ready. Download app, upload passport pic and vaccine card pic. Have a mask on. Agent will signal to come in through customs. To enter the US you will need to pay $1 toll on the Canadian side, before stepping on the bridge. There are change machines. Once you get to the US side, have a mask on. Agent will signal to come in through customs. The earlier you cross the less wait there is. Bridge is open 24 hours. Lastly, border patrol agents aren’t the nicest. Understandably, it’s their job to ask questions, but they could be more specific when asking questions.

I've been to Niagara Falls a number of times and finally looked into crossing the Rainbow Bridge on foot this time. I'm so glad I did! It is an absolute highlight of Niagara Falls. You will need your passport and $1 in change to get through the turnstiles on the Canadian side. It's a brief walk to the American side, but the view is unparalleled. There are lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance on the American side, if you wish to explore a bit before returning. I highly recommend going at least one way after dark, to see the Falls lit up.

It was very easy walking across the pedestrian bridge. The walkway on the United States side runs along the back of Parking Lot 1 of Niagara Falls State Park. You can get dropped off on Prospect St and start walking. There are plenty of signs that guide you. Once you go through the turnstiles, it's an easy walk with plenty of good photo opportunities. The plaque at the boarder is a good photo spot. There were only a couple people ahead of us at customs. It only took a few minutes to get through. After you leave customs, it is only a couple hundred feet until you are on a main road. There is no toll if you are entering Canada. There is a $1 toll in USD or CAD if you are entering Canada. There are change machines that take smaller denominations.

While visiting the Niagara Falls area, we decided to travel into Canada but did not want to drive. It was our first time traveling into Canada and we chose to do it by walking over the Rainbow Bridge! Some key things: 1) Lot 1 Parking (next to the Niagara Falls Visitor’s Center) is the closest to the Rainbow Bridge. It’s $10.; 2)Canada requires the use of the ArriveCAN app at least 72 hours prior to your travel date. One family per account; we scanned everyone’s passport and took pictures of COVID immunization records; very easy.; 3) Passports required for everyone (we even brought the kiddos’ birth certificates since they’re young); 4) $1 in U.S. QUARTERS are needed PER PERSON when you are ready to leave Canada and head back to the U.S. via the Rainbow Bridge. There are change machines if you have suitable U.S. bill denominations. If not, go to the Duty Free shop right next to the bridge to break bills and get quarters.; 5) Avoid Clifton Hill UNLESS you want to walk into a touristy nightmare of carnival games and money-draining things. If you like that sort of thing, you’ll be in heaven (and so will your kiddos if you have any). Other than that, safe travels; it’s a cool experience and coming back into the U.S. was very quick and easy (at least when we returned on that day)!

Awesome experience walking across the Rainbow Bridge from Canada to the U.S. side. There's a strong wind on the bridge, which is cooling on a hot day. The walk is much faster than a car ride on busy days and only costs $1 each way. Make sure you have your passport! But many people walking are just going for the day and are not carrying any baggage. Worth the trip!

Walkable bridge between 2 countries, Canada and the USA 😊 Starting from Canada, we had to pay 1 dollar coin in CAD or USD on the Canada side before we embarked on this stroll to the US. It's a pleasant walk across the bridge where you can visually appreciate 360 degrees of the Niagara River and 180 degrees of the Niagara Falls. At the end of the bridge, we had to present our passports to go through the US immigration. It was a quick and easy process. And going back to Canada from the US, we just passed through a turnstile on the US side then continued to cross the bridge to Canada. Upon arriving at the Canadian border, we had to present our passports again. I recommend that you try this different approach to get to another country by walking. Of course, legally.

Easy way to cross the border and get some striking views of the falls, the gorge, and the surrounding city. The signage leading up to the bridge on either side could use some minor improvements but we found our way. No fence along most of the bridge which makes for some good, unobstructed views, but if you're not a fan of heights, I'd suggest walking closer to the roadway side of the path. Don't forget to bring your ID before you enter through the gates to get to the bridge. The signs there need no improvement - they are as clear as day. You might have some delays if you do.

Yes, you can walk across the bridge to go to Canada. You will need to upload your COVID card and passport the the Canadian site. Quick easy walk from the NY side. Great views of the two sides. Once you enter Canada you have access to many wonderful views of the falls and more places to explore .When you return to the U.S. you will need to pay $ to cross the bridge and your passport to renter the U.S. Plan ahead and you won’t have any trouble .

The walk from the bridge is amazing, rather than driving. Indeed once you enter USA then you may end up walking too much as it's too long to cover ample amount of space. While entering from Canada by walk, you need to pay $1 canadian to pay as pedestrian toll. So make sure you have that with you if you dont have then you can keep $5 or $10 bill only those bills can be converted in the machine as shown in the photos. Apart from that if you visit niagara state park then there is no other fees or expense apart form whatever you plan to purchase or consume any food. Once you cross the bridge from Canada then after entering USA you need to go through immigration office where your purpose of visit and passport will be asked any other nation apart from Canadian or USA you will need to provide your fingerprints as photo is mandatory for eveyone. Question will be asked as below 1. Purpose of visit in USA and where will you go? 2. Which is your country origin? Or which country passports do you have ? 3. How long will you stay in USA? After you finish your trip, then while returning back you just exit USA from the pedestrian side without paying any toll and direct go towards Canada immigration, where the officer will ask. 1. Where do you stay? 2. Where did you visit in USA? Maybe also why? 3. Did you purchase any duty free stuff? He will take the passport print in the machine and that's it you are out of the office in 2 to 3min. Both the immigration office visit will last only for max 10min and you are done. Depends on each and every other individual file and origin of country. Keep in mind if you prefer to go USA on foot to watch the falls, be prepared to have long walks so walk with comfortable shoes and attire. However you will find washrooms on the USA nigara falls, so don't worry to hold on to your bladder till they burst 😅😬😉 The wind is too strong on the falls both the side. If it's cold dress appropriately or you will be chilled, even if it's warm carry some extra layer of cloth to help you if it gets cold.

The bridge itself isn't all that beautiful but it is over the Niagara Falls Gorge and everything surrounding it is beautiful! A rainbow can be seen below the bridge regularly in the mist of the falls. The bridge spans from the United States into Canada.

This bridge was really cool, I must say. Out of the many bridges I have seen in my life, this one was exceptional. The bridge is well built, sturdy, and happens to join together 2 countries that are separated by the Niagara River: the U.S. and Canada. There is something very exciting about being able to walk into another country, so I would highly recommend walking on the pathway rather than driving in which also often has long wait times. You get an amazing view of the Falls and get to really take in your surroundings. Keep in mind that you need coins to pay the $1/person toll to exit Canada (and the machine will only take $1 or $5 USD bills or $5 or $10 CA bills). Make sure you have the necessary documentation to enter/reenter like passports or visa.

Extremely convenient way to cross from US to Canada (and vice versa) to view the Falls by foot. You get a very awesome view of both falls from the bridge as well, allowing you to take beautiful pictures of the skyline and the falls. Just remember to have some spare cash to pay a $1 (either USD or CAD) toll per person on the Canada side. The customs on both sides are super efficient and friendly. Great experience overall

A beautiful bridge marking the border of USA and Canada. It was very crowded during weekend; people from US side could travel to the Canada side at present due to the ease of restrictions. But those from Canada side can’t travel for non essential purposes. One gets a gorgeous view of both the USA & Canada side of the Niagara falls from this bridge.

Hubby and I drove over the Rainbow Bridge from NY to Canada. The next day, we decided to walk over, and I'm glad we did! Such a wonderful experience! Amazing view and we met the most interesting people! I highly recommend doing it if you ever get the chance!

Went in the 2nd since Canada has dropped some of their mandates. Landed in Rochester for work and drove over, about 1.5 hours. Nice view of the waterfall from the bridge. A little congested but you know.

Don't try crossing after 1pm and expect the line to move quickly... or even slowly 😵 also, why make us use the arriveCan app if you aren't even gonna check it eh? Great visit, crossing was one of the few negative moments. Hmu Canada! I can increase efficiency by 1000% with just a few pointers ... for a fee 👀

Great bridge views of Niagara Falls from Canada to the US. Bridge crossing with customs into the states is good too. A lot of lanes open and lanes don't take too much time to get over the border. The weekend traffic was not to bad in the winter with waiting in line.

Ok while the bridge is fine. I did not like the idea that when you come, even if you just went for 10 minutes like we did. We waited over an hour to come back as everybody had to have the Canada arrive app and lots of people were very confused. I would recommend that there be a boarder duty when a person tries to go through and explain to them what they need to do if they decided to cross. This would make it easier so at least you would know. While the signs were there nobody excepted that you had just gone for 10 minutes you need to wait an hour to get back in. Otherwise we would not have gone if we knew

It took a little time to figure out how to get to the pedestrian walkway, but once I did, I was treated to some of the most unique vantage points of Niagara Falls - with one foot in the USA, and the other foot in Canada!

My American fiancé and I walked across the Rainbow Bridge from the Canadian side in February 2023. Obviously, it was cold but the walkway was clear. We took photos midway and the view was pretty good. It was annoying to have to exchange US coins for Canadian just to cross. Maybe $3? I just never have change so it was a lucky break b/c the machines didn't take card and no one staffed that area. It was easy to get our passports reviewed on the US side, though they seemed a bit annoyed. Once we got back to Canada, there was someone working the booth. She stamped both our passports with a special Rainbow Bridge stamp so that was fun.

Canada side was super slow!!! My family walked from USA to Canada from the rainbow bridge and Canada side line was so long, it looked like no one was working and for couple hours of waiting still felt like it wasn’t moving. Not sure what was happening? Was kinda sad and left.

Great views, nice little walk, totally accessible for pedestrians to get amazing views of both sides of the falls. It is one dollar to cross, but totally worth the view. No rush, and no crowds to compete with. There was a line to get across the border each direction, but not more than 10-15 minutes each way

One of the most iconic bridges connecting US and Canada . Normally crowded .. we didn’t use this bridge to go to Canada and used the other one . While coming back we used rainbow as it was 9ish in the night . Very quick entry .. love the views from rainbow bridge . Overall a very nice experience..

Amazing experience crossing the border from the US to Canada by foot. Make sure you have all the right documents before you enter. I entered Canada just to get the views of the Niagara from the other side. Truly spectacular

It was incredibly stopped up going from the Canadian side to the USA side. I think k that's honestly just hit or miss, depending on how many guards are present. The view from the bridge was phenomenal though. I'd reccomend walking it if you have the time and a passport, seeing both falls is lovely. Even on a bad day

Maybe the best bridge in the world?! You can walk across as a pedestrian which gives you great views of the falls. Would recommend!

We went from Canada across the bridge, but did not enter into the US because we were heading over the next day. Views were nice! It’s nothing crazy special, but i fun experience. It cost 4 quarters to cross (just bring a dollar and you can use their quarter machine).

Wondering place in the autumn for families to visit. Lots of open space, so it really does not get crowded. The tree leaves are spectacular with the abundance of fall colours. The only down point is the continuous noise of helicopters landing and taking off every few minutes nearby.

2 different world, 2 different countries and one beautiful connection between them. Poetical. You can change your country by walk and this is a quite good experience. You can find many souvenirs around here for your people. Also If I am not wrong bridge has 1 dollar fee for pedestrians.

I walked across this bridge to see the falls on the Canada side. Everything worth doing is on the Canada side. You can get up close to the horseshoe falls. They had a beautiful visitor center with shopping inside. There was plenty of shaded areas in the grass to get out of the heat and sun. Plus they had a zip line! Going through customs was easy.

  • 4/5 Manny D. 7 months ago on Google
Only 2 lanes per side to cross. There is a sidewalk on both side with spectacular views of the falls. No trucks to cross but there are buses. Early mornings and late evenings are the slowest times to cross through the customs. Older bridge with history and well kept. Worth considering when crossing between Canada and the US.

Crossing the border on foot offers beautiful views of both the US and Canadian falls. To enter the US from Canada, you need US $1. From the Canadian side, you can walk across the bridge to the US side, but you must have your passport to enter the US. If you don't have a passport, they won't let you in, meaning you'll need to go back. However, if you lack a passport, you'll face difficulties entering (or returning to) Canada. If you plan to cross the border, make sure to have your passport with you.
