This trail is not the longest or the most difficult you will find locally, but it is VERY much one of the most beautiful and unique! I've been visiting for years, and am still just as inspired by this wonder of nature now as I was the first day I explored it!

We counted 426 stairs to get to the bottom. It's a nice well maintained trail and the views are amazing. We enjoyed stopping here. It is definitely a workout, but worth the hike. There's also a restroom here. We didn't go in, but it's here.

This is one my favorite places to hike in WNY. Round trip, from the stairs to rocks and back is 4.22 miles. Don’t underestimate those stairs coming back up. Keep hydrated and take breaks

You can enjoy the path. It's adventurous when you climb and walk along the hillside. After the devil's hole, continuing on the main trail we can visit a beautiful scenic place. I have added the photos. Check them out and enjoy your trip.

Nice park with trails through the gorge. The most challenging part is the 600 stairs down to the trail along the river. The trail along the river does take you to the whirlpool, approximately a 1.5 mile hike. Awesome scenery along the way. If your body can handle the stairs going down and back up, it's worth the time.

Wow, Lots if EXERCISE. many steps & some are uneven. It's a Great Challenge & the Devil can keep it. Rocky in some areas & HUGE TREE ROOTS. Could be used for Special Forces Training. Super Workout. interesting to see the Niagara River & the Rapids & the Whirl pool Jet & the Passengers in it. pretty cool.

Such a beautiful place to hike. But it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s a long way down; and once you’ve reached the bottom you will have to climb the stairs right back up or hike a mile to the Whirlpool Park exit, which is only a marginally easier ascent. But it’s totally worth every aching muscle the next day.

Visited here at end of Oct, 2022, right timing to enjoy the fall colors. There are many stoned stairs down to the river, but very enjoyable. Hiked along the river out and back.

Very underrated hiking spot in WNY. The views of the river and trail are awesome. Be prepared to face a steep descent down to water. Most importantly be prepared to climb back up :) Highly recommend visiting during the fall foliage season.

Nice hike along the Niagara River. Not for young children. Very steep drops and the trail is at the edge of the cliff. Just an FYI 400+ stairs going down then a nice few miles of hiking followed by going up those same 400+ stairs. For the avid hikers, down below you meet up with the whirlpool trail.

This is a really cool state park to go and hike when visiting Niagra Falls. We really enjoyed seeing the ice there in April. The cave is neat and seems to have some history there. Beware that the staircase down to the gorge trail will take your breath away... literally, lol! We really loved hiking here and plan to go back next time we are in Niagra Falls. The trail has some changing scenery a lot of fun terrain. The kids just loved it!

Fun little hike with the kids. When I say little, give yourself at least 2 hours. There are a lot of steps! But it's so fun to hike with family. My youngest is 9, and she did great! My only complaint is not a lot of signs to tell you where to go. We parked on the far left of the parking lot so we went the wrong way initially. If you go to the far left there is a flat trail you can walk along. Park at the far right of the parking lot (right when you first pull in). The sign is on the right side of the lot. You walk right, and that's how you get down to devils hole. I think it's around 440 steps. Easy getting down, hard to get up. After you get to the bottom it may be like .25 mile to see Devils Hole which is a little cave on the left you climb up a few rocks to get in. There is a hole from the mountain where spring water comes down here. Bring bug spray in summer. Lots of mosquitoes.

The signs are not very clear here, and no maps either. If you parked in Devil's Hole parking lot, the stairs to go down to the river is on the right when you're facing the river. You'll see a bathroom by the entrance of the stairs.(A water fountain on the upper level by the bathroom.) When you're at the bottom of the stairs, go left for 10 minutes you'll see a cave which is the Devil's Hole. (Tho there's no sign says it is.) If you go right, the trail is not easy and small, probably leading to the plant. After the Devil's Hole, you can keep going upstream for about 15 minutes, there's another stairs to go back to the bike trail, about 15 minutes walk to the parking lot.

Nice escape from overcrowded local traditional tourist places like Niagara Falls State Park. Well maintained trails, nice view. There is a stone staircase leading down to the base of the gorge. There are good fishing spots down there as well.

I loved hiking here with my 2 kids (ages 11, 13). The stairs down are no joke.. but doable! There is a trail that you can hike once you are at the bottom by the Niagara River. It normally goes all the way to Whirlpool SP, however there was a rock slide or something so it is blocked off now. Very cool sights and great experience.

Such a cool place to walk around. Walked from Devils Hole to Whirlpool State park on the trail near the water. The trail starts with lots of stairs so be ready for that.. The trail also has portions directly on a sheer cliff, so make sure pets and children are closely monitored if you decide to bring them because there is possibility for injury. It was beautiful though. The water was brilliantly blue and the large fallen rocks were cool to see.

Cool place, nice hike. My friend caught a couple of ghost orbs in his pictures. Nice views of the river. Not stroller friendly but many kids were hiking the trail. Good for doggos and we carried our 7 month old carefully

Awesome hiking trail! Very strenuous if you aren't used to mountain trails. Maybe a mile or mile and a half to the devils house. The way down is great but getting back up is rough. Go down the stairs all the way then make a left. It says a mile but didnt seem that long. Great views.

As long as you are ready for a lot of stairs and a good hike, Go get it! However if stairs are too much I'd beware stay up top. So amazing to walk along the Niagara River, there small cave opening, it is a bit high up and I wasn't feeling the climb, there is a second that looked like a hole also don't know which was considered the "hole". The views were gorgeous and I'm glad I did it. The whirlpool stairs where out and we didn't catch that sign going in so you have to turn around and walk back the way you came. Check to see it those stairs are open of you are wanting to make the loop hike. Had I seen that I would have given this place 5 stars.

Very cool spot. Give or take 320 stairs to get down to the bottom. If you decide to take the plunge just know you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic view of the River, and there are some spots you can actually reach the river. Amazing views and an overall unique experience.

Amazing hike. They're redoing some of the park at the top, but the lower trails are still open. Would recommend going a little slow on the way up because there are a lot of stairs, but it's worth it!

Beautiful views and one heck of a hike! If you’re old and out of shape like I am those stairs will give you a run for your money but it was worth it!

Great view of the Niagara River from the top of the gorge. You can see the Whirlpool Jet Boats zip by. Step trail down the gorge to river bank is challenging but doable. The trail continues along the river. The climb back up to the top not as easy as it is going down. Lol

Beautiful park! Very well kept! However the trail system was confusing. We didn’t know what trail we were in until we were at the end of it! Would hike again though :)

Wow, great hike. The stairs were steep but it's so much fun. Took my family here and learned a lot about its historical significance as well as the science behind its formation. The kids surprisingly did not complain about it.

Great, easy hike down and back up. There is an incredible cave along the river that blows out cold air. Really refreshing during summer.

I'm a nature lover and this place is beautiful with an amazing view of the lake. We went like at 6:30pm and there was hardly anyone there. We started going down the stairs ( and they were endless and a bit steep) it took us 20m min give or take to get to the cave. On our way back we conted over 400 stairs. There is parking and everything is well maintained. Watch your step and enjoy the view.

Once you walk up the rocks you can feel the cool breeze coming from inside the cave. Walk down the steps and follow the path (to the left) and you'll find it about 5-10 minutes out, depending on how quickly you're trying to get there. I walked in sandals and could do it, but would recommend appropriate footwear, as it got a little muddy in some places after raining in the morning. We had a great experience and would visit again if ever the opportunity to return to Niagara presents itself.

An amazing place to take a hike with the kids and get some fresh air with an astonishing view as you’re walking along the path, really worth the 15 minute hike down to near the falls along the sunset as well

In a sea of ghetto, poverty and darkness, this is the sole bright spot in Niagara Falls - a true escape to nature. Highly recommend hiking along the Niagara River in the Gorge if you are ever in the area. Best to go in October-November for peak fall vibes. Pumpkin spice lattes not included.

You can park and view the gorge from the top incredibly easily. Paved walkway. For a BIG challenge, you can walk down steps to the bottom for even more beautiful views. Nearby to Power Vista to vary the experience. Bathrooms available at the top.

Excellent hike, provides a variety of experiences for all fitness levels. If you're looking for a casual stroll, stay on the top level and enjoy the gorgeous views. If you're the adventurous type, head down the stairs and enjoy the raging river. There are plenty of rocks to scramble over and beautiful vistas all around.

413 steps to walk down to the path by the water. Other than that it's fantastic. Well maintained & very clean. We walked down to the whirlpool & back. Some climbing over rocks in a few points. Great hike.

410 steps, not counting landings to the bottom..then back up. View was good at the river. About a 30-45 minute trip depending on ability.

So much to see and not enough time. I'm definitely doing the speed boat tour through the Rapids next time.
