The only thing good about this hotel is the location. I was only in the room 5 minutes, my daughter and I both came out with bites all over our ankles. No locks on the doors. My 2 yr old granddaughter opened the door walked out of the room. Definitely not safe. Furniture was disgusting full of stains, sheets felts grimey

This hotel was recommended by Expedia to go to. They assured quality and that’s what was presumed. When arriving at the hotel, we were met with a deplorable room with toilets that were shaking with poo stains still in the toilet. The room wasn’t properly cleaned as we saw stains all over. The air conditioning was broken and wasn’t working on top of that. The management gave no assistance in regards to leaving. They said that we would have to stay in the hotel room without a refund because it was all up to Expedia when we have researched and have gotten assurance that they could offer us the refund. The elevators were dirty and last night a bug was found which we presume to be bed bugs but we cannot assure that because we have never had them before. When squished it did have a distinct smell. Attached are some examples of what we faced for a hotel room that at the time was more than $230 a night. The video that we did take cannot be added because this review only allows for photos. The lamp shade couldn’t even stand up straight unless pushed towards the wall.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! This place does not care to accommodate its guest they just want your money. Called to ask questions about booking and was giving completely wrong information in order to secure a card number. I was also told that they offer a 100% refund if needed because “they are flexible” but once he realized I was upset and I asked for a refund all of a sudden the 1 room we booked doesn’t allow cancellation/refunds. Absolute robbery. The man at the front counter had one of the worst attitudes I’ve even come across while travelling and spoke to me disrespectfully the entire time.

The hotel was clean and offered a great breakfast. It is also a 15 minute walk to Clifton Hill and 20 minute walk to the falls, which was great! But why I would stay here again is that the front desk went out of the way to help us when our car broke down by letting us check out at 1 pm, instead of 11 am, so that we could get our car repaired. This helped us immensely and was much appreciated!

Great place to stay for the price. Super clean, friendly staff and great rooms, we had a nice decent bed, with TV, table, coffee maker, fridge and plenty of space to leave our clothes. We stayed there mostly for sleeping since we wanted to enjoy and explore Niagara Falls, for the price it’s a steal, plus it comes with a free breakfast. Don’t mind the guy complaining for the parking, i guess some people prefer to cry and complain about anything, you have a FREE PARKING, compared to the others hotels at least some of them where you have to pay for it. The hotel Is super close to everything, 15 minutes walk from the falls, McDonalds next to you, coffee places and pizza. Will definitely go back again.

Great affordable rooms. Last minute booking, booked on site. Staff/Front desk very welcoming and helpful to book stay. Close to McDonald's and other places to eat. Rooms were nice and clean, had a 2 queen bedroom for the family and I. Will stay again when in the area again. Thanks.

Rooms: the room I got was relatively clean, but there were many cobwebs under the bed. The airconditioning was rusty and you could barely tell what the instructions on it said. There are 4 lightswitch areas for no reason? The door to the bathroom is hard to open. There's no hand soap in the bathroom. The design is questionable(tv isn't centered). The bed was okay, but the fabric was weird. But its liveable. Service: guy at the front desk had a heavy accent which is a really weird decision because he's the staff member that talks the most. The rest of the staff looked sad, but there was nothing wrong. Nothing good too. Location: it's pretty close to niagrafalls. The lobby is nicely made though. The free breakfast is okay, not that much variety. The walls are not soundproof and i could hear kids running around the whole night.

We stayed for three nights with my wife and 4-year-old son. I guess since they turned off the AC, the room smelled damp when we got in first. The bathroom was clean, but the towels were worn out; even some had holes, and they looked unbleached, or perhaps they had been in service for a long time. As a result, they were not as bright as they should have been. Thank God, we brought our own towels. The weirdest and most annoying part is when someone, either your neighbor or someone above, is taking a shower. It becomes very noisy; it feels like you are in the falls. Their breakfast room is small and always crowded, and they don't have much choices. The fruits were only apples and mandarins, and they were not fresh. The coffee tasted horrible. Finally, we decided to eat our breakfast somewhere else. We felt we made a bad choice by staying here. We wish we had paid a little extra and stayed somewhere else. I will never stay here again. We felt we got the cheapest service for the money we paid. I won't advise anyone stay here. The owners are cheap, and they provide bad service to make money out of you. In general, it wasn't a pleasant stay.

the room was alright although when my family and I woke up we found bugs crawling along the walls and soon then flew onto the bed sheets. When we confronted the manager about it he said there was nothing he could do about it and claimed that we were lying about bugs being in HIS HOTEL.the park lot was filled up with cars I had to park my car in this dark neighborhood(not in the original parking lot). Overall don’t book this hotel !

We paid extra to "upgrade" to a room with a King size bed. Room was a good size. BUT, the room smelled very musty. We thought it was because the AC was off, so we turned it on. The room was very warm. After an hour the room was still warm and still smelled musty. We turned the AC on to the highest speed and the room still took about a good 6 hours to properly cool. when I went to use the bathroom, I noticed the tub had small spots of mold on the shower tiles, and along the bottom of the shower curtain. It also had a black residue on the actual tub where you would stand. We asked for someone to come and clean it. When the manager/owner came to clean it, we were told that it wasn't dirt, "ONLY" the stain on the tub. We were told it was actually clean, just stained. Disgusting. Then when we moved the shower curtain back, we saw a long hair. She said it was probably "just hers". Again, disgusting. I tried to be a good sport, but when the sink got backed up, I'd had enough.

The staff are really friendly. The rooms are neat. Not a fancy place but perfect to use as a place to rest and sleep. The breakfast was also good.

Value for money. Close to the falls. Old place, nice staff helped with breakfast. If you just want to sleep over night and a decent place this is a good option.

Close proximity to a bunch of attractions. Free parking. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub. The wand that is supposed to attach to the wall to have a shower in it, had no hose attached to the shower head. So we couldn’t use the shower part. Also the remote was the wrong one for the tv, so we had to get up and change the channels. Other than that, friendly staff, comfortable bed, spacious suite. Good continental breakfast.

An excellent place to stay! Sparkling clean rooms, washrooms and hot tubs, lots of parking (most visible from rooms), great breakfast offered, friendly, courteous and personable ( : D ) staff, esp. Anisha, Supreme, Allain and Sam (mgr.). My fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the Honeymoon Suite, and anxiously look fwd to our next stay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Clean and spacious rooms. Good breakfast including boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit juices, cereals, coffee and expresso drinks from machine, bagels and breads with different kinds of spreads, mini muffins and waffles. Service was quite decent. Location is convenient with parking available. Would visit again.

The hotel is okay, just a bit dated and the washrooms need to be renovated. The staff are nice and the all included breakfast is decent. Located about 5 minutes drive from the falls close by some restaurants.

Booked the Queen room. It was clean and equipped with tea/coffee maker, TV, heater/cooler, mini-fridge, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, dressing mirror. Towels and bed sheets were fresh. Toiletries such as shampoo, body lotion, soap were provided. Breakfast included bagels, waffles, muffins, bread, coffee, juice, eggs, yogurt, oatmeal and cereal. Overall a great stay.

I liked the price as it was really reasonable, and the cleanness was okay as well. The hotel was located within walking distance of falls (at least for us; two stroll-lovers). I did not like the breakfast as the choices were very limited and also the building was very old. But after all, you get what you pay.

Located 10m walk from the main activities area. The hotel is a great value for money. While the rooms are a bit old everything was clean. Room was quiet. Parking is free and the receptionist was very kind to let our car stay longer after checkout. There was a good breakfast including fresh waffles, boiled eggs, toasts/bagels, yoghurt, cereal and there was a coffee machine.

room is so nice and clean. everything is so good. the only problem is the guy at the front desk. he is so rude. i booked the room under my husband’s name that we usually do and i went inside for check-in as usual but the guy asks me to call my husband for the check-in and later he charged us on our credit card manually ,we went to the place often and stay in many other hotels but no one asks us to pay security that way they just use our credit for that. when we went to the front desk for check out the guy is like i need to check the room first while other people are just give them key and left. when we ask them they are like the gave their credit information while booking we did that too. what he think we gonna take something from there or what. rules should be same for everyone. i will never going back to that place in my life. worst experience ever.

This was a last-minute booking for a quick night stay (when our preferred options weren’t available). On the positive side, the location is excellent, there’s a free (limited) parking and a quick run-off-the-mill motel breakfast. On the other hand, the rooms and elevators could be cleaned a bit better, the facilities are old (the room lock was wonky, bed wasn’t very comfortable), and there’s a lot of noise at night. We wouldn’t recommend this for a leisurely stay or for a family but if it’s a night stop, this can work as it’s pretty affordable. You get what you pay for!

We booked a queen room and the room size was decent. The bed was too old and not sturdy. The corridors were very noisy all night. Breakfast was open from 7am -10 am with good options.

Great place for a short trip to the falls. They are within walking distance. Clean room. Big rooms. Air-conditioning and heating worked fine. Breakfast was complimentary and they served waffles.

Hotel was nice and clean. Room was a bit small but not uncomfortable. Hot Breakfast was very good with choices. Friendly reception. The water in washroom was only hot, no cold water was coming. Would recommend this for short stays.

Nice hotel for a reasonable price. Location is good, walking distance from falls and ferris wheel. Prices are very reasonable, environment is simple and cozy. Rooms were not new, but clean and had all the necessary things. The only thing that could be better is breakfast. Breakfast could be a bit better, cause it had mostly sweet things.

Very friendly staff, clean room, good location. Our room was not ready, so we got an upgraded room. Breakfast was good, coffee excellent. Hotel needs some upgrades, but once these will be done, the price will be much higher. Thank you all staff from Glengate Hotel👍😀

    1. I woke up around 2:55 A.M to the sound of water dripping in the washroom and when I opened the washroom’s door the entire floor was filled with water leaking from old broken exhaust in there. 2. Reached out to the front desk with a video proof to report the problem, there was no offering of another room, no offering of compensation for spoiling my sleep, no offering of even a sorry until the complaint was repeated for 5 times. 3. The previous evening, was wondering why is there no water bottle in the room and how we were to make coffee without water, reached out to the front desk and asked receptionist to break 20 dollars for change since their water vending machine will only take loonie and 50 cents for the purpose. They had no loonies to offer though when the receptionist opened the cash tray I saw enough. 4. If the top 3 reasons I have mentioned do not concern, go through other reviews for the hotel which I missed in first place. 5. If all of this does not affect you, by all means welcome to Glengate Hotel - a true 2 star for Experience.

Nice size clean rooms with comfy Queen size beds. Sheets were clean and free from any odour. Continental breakfast was included and was really good. It includes waffles, pancakes, Eggs, cereals, fruit yogurt, muffinns, bagels, bread, hot n cold milk, nice coffee machine. Parking is free on site. For out Muslim communtiy Masjid is next door which is biggest advantage of course. Enjoyed our stay with family. Its 25 mins walk tobthe falls.

Arrived to a very very small parking area got lucky to find a spot and didn't fare move the car during our stay incase we couldn't get another spot. Front desk and breakfast staff were friendly. Room was spacious but dated and very very musty. It constantly smelt like damp old socks. The bathroom fan was so loud due to the dust, the bath tub wasnt stained but was noisy and the floor had a loose tile that stuck up and my child caught her toe on it. The breakfast room is ridiculously small and often found guests (ourselves included) having to sit in the entrance area due to no seats or space. The breakfast only has waffles, toast, bagels and cereal the muffins were mini ones and were fine within the first 10minutes and not refilled. The waffles were nice and made by a young woman who was very helpful and friendly. This hotel was ok as a last minute spot that was close to where we needed to be for my sons boxing tournament. For the price it was ok. If we were to come to Niagara again for a holiday and not sporting event we would choose somewhere else.

Rooms are spacious, but floors are not properly cleaned. I believe that extra $10 parking charge varies on the booking platform & did not appreciate the extra charge during check-in. I would have went somewhere else if have known before check-in. You see, the problem here is that most online reservations are non-refundable & a customer is forced to pay for extra money for parking during check-in. It is something provincial attorney general must look into since this practice can also be considered as deceptive business tactic forcing customers to pay for extra during check-in. Having a sign placed for 10$ parking is controversial since customer used an online platform to book a reservation which is non-refundable & forced to spend 10$ during check-in. I believe a lawsuit will address this problem since without a doubt it is a deceptive business tactic & a customer is lured to book a reservation based on cheaper price, but forced to spend an extra $10 during check-in or loose all amount for reservation!

Good hotel, great staff and nice, really helpful. 24/7 check in and clean. The rooms comes with a balcony but it has no table so bring your own. The room is clean and bed is semi-comfortable and they clean every day after 1 pm. If you took a breakfast option its fair but you should consider coffee from outside because coffee is not so good here. In glance, good as service and staff. I recommend it to others

  • 4/5 Barry W. 1 year ago on Google
PROS: The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it served our purpose well. It was a good place to spend a couple of nights relatively close (about a 20 minute walk) to the Falls. The breakfast was better than the average budget hotel. It included waffles, bagels and some spreads, mini muffins, a variety of cold cereals and instant oatmeal, apples, a good selection of drinks, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. CONS: I could make a long list of complaints, but I don't think I will. I knew when I booked the stay that it was a budget hotel and would have issues. In fact, it proved to be better than some motels that I've paid more to stay in. I'm a satisfied customer.

This hotel was extremely gross to myself, and my husband, and my father (who stayed in a different room) the bed was stained when we got there, there were stains on the walls, the bathtub leaked & there was garbage absolutely piled up in the stair well right outside of our room. Because of leaking, we were unable to have a shower (it was 30+ outside all day, would have been nice to at least clean off) , the ac DID NOT work in the room and was “sealed” in the hole by a single layer of wall paper( very poorly done) I had tons of mosquito bites due to this issue (the bugs came through the metal grate on the outside of the ac) due to no cool air it felt like a sauna all night so absolutely no sleep for us! Also there were needles right in the parking lot and the man at the front desk showed absolutely no interest in doing anything about it. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Stay absolutely anywhere else and save your money!!!!

  • 3/5 Richard B. 1 year ago on Google
We were upgraded to a larger bed and a balcony. The balcony opened right onto the car park. The room smelled funky and the AC was loud. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and th e bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. Rooms were clean

  • 1/5 Sandra H. 1 year ago on Google
DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! The rooms are disgusting and the beds are full with BED BUGS. I checked in the hotel at 9pm and while I was laying down on the bed, I saw the bed bugs and I immediately packed up my stuff and left. That was around 1am and I let the front desk person know of course. The only thing he told me was to come back at around 8am to talk to a manager for a refund. I came back at 8am, I talked to the manager and she was very rude and refused to give me a refund because I left at 1am which was technically the next day, even though I did not sleep there. She never apologized for a problem that was clearly on her end and never gave me my money back. I understand it was technically the next day, but I did not sleep there, I only stayed there for 4 hours (from 9pm to 1am). Very rude staff and extremely unprofessional. Do yourself a favour, and DO NOT book at that hotel.
