Trailhead Niagara Gorge Hiking Trail

πŸ‘ Amazing views! You can get really close to Niagara Falls this way. There are some stairs to go down. There comes a point where there is an upper and lower trail. I took the lower but they both seem to have beautiful views. The lower trail is very narrow and potentially dangerous. There comes a point... Amazing views! You can get really close to Niagara Falls this way. There are some stairs to go down. There comes a point where there is an upper and lower trail. I took the lower but they both seem to have beautiful views. The lower trail is very narrow and potentially dangerous. There comes a point where you come to a building that has some concrete stairs. If you go past the building and a platform, the trail should continue. It is not marked though. There's a lot of debris down there...cars that have probably fell down there, amongst other things. Still pretty cool!

Gorgeous views on this hike, the trail was an easy walk and well worth the time for the scenery. Seeing the tall rock walls as we neared the water’s edge was breathtaking.

First time stopping to see the Niagara Gorge View, and it was so beautiful! We went in the peak of fall to see the foliage, and it did not disappoint. The water is extremely blue and is beautiful to see, especially with the fall colors in the trees! There are plenty of different trail entrances that have stairs that lead you down, but be aware there are a lot of stairs! So if you find stairs to be difficult, then it may not be the best for you. (The view from the top is just as good) There was a small lot to park right by the trailhead we went too but I'm not sure if every trailhead has one. It wasn't too busy but it was a Monday! If you love a good view and nature and have never seen the Gorge view or ever walked the trail, I would highly recommend it!

The trial is really good to do exercise and also enjoy nature. There's also a cruising spot in that area

Great hiking destination, been there many times! Never been super busy when I'm there. Some tourists but it's easy to avoid those locations if you want to! Great views of the water. After some heavy rainfall the water gets ferocious!

These trails are simply breathtaking! You have to check out the remnants of the shoelkopf power station. The elevator is very handy if you want to appreciate the views without the hike!

It’s an easy hike. It’s very quiet compared to the falls area. When I hiked (September 2021), the trial was closed due to some landslide so I couldn’t hike all the way to the whirlpool.

Always a good time. You can walk on the trail at the top of the gorge and take it easy with great sights or you can take the steps down towards the water for a few different trails that range in difficulty. Bring water and watch your footing.

Great place to walk your pet. Great to see the strength of the river, You can walk or ride a bicycle all the way to the town area.

Been night fishing here 20+ years, security guard and park police randomly told me "they have the right to govern the hours and don't want me down there" last night. "It's unsafe". Even though the trail is posted as "unsafe enter at own risk." And there are no hours posted anywhere, period. Metered parking at the trailhead even says 24/7.

Beautiful hike with great views. The trial was pretty uneven and had a lot of stairs. We had 2 dogs and they found the metal stairs at the beginning and end of the hike difficult. We had to carry them down and up. Once they were on the trail they were fine with the uneven ground and stairs.

The town is all run down an a tourist trap everything is extremely over priced. Visited last weekend an almost ran off the road by some guy high out of his mind. If your looking for food drive out of town for something decent. The view was nice but the Canada side was so much better

Great, easy trail with beautiful views of the gorge all the way to the whirlpool bridge. Easier hike than the devils hole.

We road our bikes, but there were really no views on the bike trail. Took the bikes on the hiking trail where all the views are, but not conducive to bikes. Just hike it.

Some of the trails are nice, but the "American Falls Gorge Trail" was poorly marked and not kept up at all. I have no problem climbing rocks and over trees, but walking through poison ivy because rangers aren't keeping up the trails is unacceptable.

Best hike in the Falls area. Careful of the water. It's amazing to see the raw power of the current mixed with the bright blue water, beautiful forest and rock shield.

Wonderful location year round! Its quite rewarding to stand on the shores of the mighty Niagara River. Just make sure to lock your car when visiting any area in the Falls.

People stayed mostly 6 feet apart. The bathrooms were open. I just wished they had water refill stations
