The
train
station
for
Niagara
Falls
New
York
makes
a
great
example
of
creating
the
future
while
protecting
the
past.
The
station
shares
a
wall,
a
beautiful
limestone
wall,
with
the
old
customs
house.
I
was
so
gratified
to
see
that
wall
when
I
arrived
in
Niagara
Falls
on
Friday
night,
albeit
an
hour
and
a
half
late.
I
felt
comforted
by
the
guard
who
awaited
our
arrival
and
kept
the
lights
on
in
the
station.
Although
it
stands
a
short
drive
north
of
downtown
Niagara
Falls,
the
station
is
but
a
short
distance
from
the
downtown.
It's
a
minimum
fare
Uber
ride
to
hotels
by
the
Rainbow
Bridge.
The
facility
has
a
newness
about
it
and
a
cleanliness
that
comes
from
newness.
A
ticket
counter
handles
business
during
business
hours.
Sadly,
if
one
were
waiting
for
a
while,
I
saw
nothing
like
a
bar
or
restaurant
across
the
street
where
one
could
buy
a
snack
or
sip
a
beer.
The
space
calls
for
a
concession,
at
least
a
coffee
shop.
Unusually,
we
were
not
allowed
out
onto
the
platform
until
the
my
moment
before
we
boarded.
I
like
to
sit
and
wait
on
the
platform.
No
stools
or
stairs
were
required
to
board
the
train.
We
stepped
right
from
the
yellow
line
into
the
open
door.
What
a
great
advantage
for
people
who
have
difficulty
going
up
stairs.
This
station
shows
how
far
we've
come
in
rebuilding
our
transportation
infrastructure.
I
hope
this
progress
isn't
lost.
I
would
hate
to
see
this
station
idled
by
the
lack
of
trains.
As
a
plus,
I
had
time
to
read
the
interpretive
exhibit
on
Niagara
Falls
as
a
final
stop
on
the
Underground
Railroad.
