Stopped by the Laura Secord house during my trip to Niagara on the Lake. The museum and property are closed in the winter so I wasn't able to go inside. Thankfully, the house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and I enjoyed walking around Queenston. In case you're not aware, this is the restored residence of Laura Secord. She helped save the British during the War of 1812 after overhearing a conversation and running 35 km through the woods to warn the British army. During the summer you can tour the inside of the home and learn more about the history of Laura Secord. There's a nice gift shop as well as free parking and electrical charging for electric cars.

Our recent visit to this historic location. Pictures says it all. While visiting Niagara Falls worth a visit to stop by and check out the interior setup.

The staff there were informative, polite and kind. Busing is non exsistent so plan to bring a car or walk about 30 minutes each way from the floral clock.

It is great to see this historical site open again. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. If they did not know the answer to a question, the guide admitted it and said she would ask her supervisor, which she did. The property is lovely and the gift shop has some Laura Secord candy products...but they could use more. Overall, very enjoyable.

My boyfriend and I bought tickets to this guided tour when we were on vacation. It was very informative, the guides are dressed in outfits that represent the time where Laura secord was alive. I admit to having known very little about Laura Secords important roll in the war. I left there knowing much more about such a big historical figure, who is much more then just the face of a chocolate brand. I recommend this tour if you like history and true stories of women who aided in the war efforts of the 1800s.

We are local and popped in on a whim. We net Lakmay and Kieran (sorry if we spelled your names wrong) we learned about weaving today and making yarn from Merino wool. Great experience! The only thing I would say is it would be nice to see some First Nations bead work and crafts and actual Laura Secord ice cream rather than nestle.

A small gem on the way to Niagara on the lake. We had a great interpreter. One does not feel rushed upon visiting and you leave with more historic knowledge.

A piece of Loyalist history. We were lucky enough to have a guided tour just after a kid's group. The interpreter passed along some great information about the circumstances that took place in the house while Mrs. Secord was not only nursing (and hiding) her wounded husband, but also travelling down river to Fort George to warn Cpt Fitzgibbons what had happened on the Queenston heights which prompted him to advise Major General Shaeffe to lead a successful attack to repel the invading force.

As a Canadian we are well aware of the history. How Laura Secord overheard the US invasion plans, how she took it upon herself to warn the British. It is part of our history as Canadians, visiting the Homestead was interesting. You can see how middle class lived, the house was much small than I pictured.

Her story must be known. Walking over 30kms to save your country/town without any Google maps in wilderness.. To learn more about her and the lifestyle of 1800s, it's a nice place to visit. Located minutes away from Queenston Heights. No issues with parking and the admission fee is reasonable. The guide was very knowledgeable and showed a lot of details about the lifestyle of the era

It's good to learn about Canada's history and the women that were a part of it. The laura secord story is a 5 star but this place gets 4 stars as it's a small site and a bit pricey. The guide was great and shared lots of interesting information especially about the day to day life in addition to the main story.

Sort of the reverse of Paul Revere's cry of, "The British are Coming," Laura Secord overheard the American's plan to invade and reported this to the British Army. The heroine of Upper Canada (Ontario) during the War of 1812. Free Parking available. It's another treasure of this richly historic area in Queenston near Niagara-on-the-Lake. Costumed guides detail the story and show guests around the homestead. Refreshments and goodies available. Donated by the Laura Secord Company Confectioners. Yum!

I visited LS Homestead earlier today. Learned tons about this prominent figure in Canadian history. My tour guide Emma was absolutely fantastic - informative, personable and kind! Absolutely lovely, knowledgeable and insightful- she easily transported me in the time of the War of 1812. Incredibly entertaining and enriching tour! Thank you, Emma!

it was a short tour.. but definitely interesting to see how she lived and hear about her contribution to history... how small the house and rooms are... and how many children were raised in that house is fascinating... and i also appreciate that the house has been take back to period correctness... great job Niagara Parks!

We only stopped there for ice cream . Nice facility with clean washrooms. Fastservice on the ice cream and you get a lot for the $. Also therearent a lot of ice cream flavours but the season is winding down. The museum looks interesting and will definately take that in on our next Niagara trip

There is a Laura Secord museum. You can get a guided tour of her home. It is fascinating to learn about her life and how they lived. You don't spend too much time at this tourist attraction.

Extremely interesting and informative. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We arrived a few minutes late and our guide made sure to explain everything after the rest of the tour was over (you know who you are).My wife and I had no idea who Laura Secord was as we always assumed she started a chocolate company (spoiler alert: she did not start a chocolate company and probably never even tried chocolate).
