I
first
met
Mario
through
Facebook
Group,
"Backpackers
Nicaragua".
Mario
Romero
is
the
General
Manager
of
"Golden
Tours
Nicaragua",
and
he
offered
me
free
tips
&
suggestions
regarding
my
itinerary
to
Nicaragua.
He
is
so
respectful,
polite,
and
not
pushy
when
it
comes
to
communicating
with
his
clients.
He's
an
experienced
and
a
local
tour
guide/operator
for
the
last
17
years.
"Golden
Tours
Nicaragua"
is
partnered
with
Pan
Mission's
Sponsorship
Program,
a
non-profit
organization,
which
in
part
works
to
sponsor
low
economical
resources
students
so
they
can
continue
to
study
until
they
finish
their
career.
When
you
buy
a
package
in
Golden
Tours
Nicaragua,
5%
of
these
money
go
to
the
funds
of
Pan
Mission’s
Sponsorship
Program,
and
later
on
is
used
to
support
poor
students.
Furthermore,
Mario
collaborates
with
the
local
members
of
his
community
to
further
help
them
with
their
socioeconomic
situations.
It's
humbling
to
hear
stories
such
as
Vladimir's,
who
started
with
1
single
boat
years
ago,
and
he
is
now
an
owner
of
his
own
boat
tour
company
in
Las
Isletas
Granada.
So
you're
not
paying
towards
a
foreign-owned
company.
Hiring
"Golden
Tours
Nicaragua"
will
also
help
their
local
community.
I
know
how
overwhelming
and
intimidating
it
can
be
for
a
foreigner
to
travel
to
Nicaragua
(especially
if
no
prior
research
or
planning
are
done,
and
if
you
don't
speak
Spanish).
We
heard
stories
of
tourists
being
abandoned
and
taken
advantage
of
by
hiring
unofficial
&
cheaper
tour
companies.
Mario
has
established
himself
already
and
you
can
read
his
reviews
on
Tripadvisor.
"Golden
Tours
Nicaragua"
is
a
top
rated
Outdoor
Activities
in
Granada,
and
you
can
be
certain
that
you'll
get
what
you
pay
for.
His
price
is
reasonable
and
affordable
and
he
is
very
transparent
with
his
pricing.
As
an
LGBTQ+
client,
Mario
&
his
team
made
sure
that
we
are
comfortable
and
they're
very
respectful
of
us.
You
really
need
to
speak
Spanish
to
go
around
Nicaragua,
and
as
an
English
teacher,
Mario
helped
us
tremendously.
My
husband
and
I,
along
with
2
of
our
friends,
hired
"Golden
Tours
Nicaragua"
as
our
private
transportation
from
Managua
Airport
to
Granada,
Granada
to
Ometepe
Island,
Ometepe
Island
to
San
Juan
Del
Sur,
San
Juan
del
Sur
to
León,
then
León
to
Managua.
Mario
&
his
friend,
Justo,
became
our
local
drivers
in
Nicaragua.
In
Granada,
we
did
a
Sunrise
Boat
Tour
at
Las
Isletas,
spend
the
afternoon
at
Laguna
de
Apoyo,
and
we
did
a
Sunset
Tour
at
Masaya
Volcano.
It
was
magical,
and
we
like
that
Mario
took
us
to
local
restaurants
to
eat
local
Nicaraguan
food,
and
we
avoided
large
crowds
of
tourists
because
he
knew
where
to
go.
In
San
Juan
del
Sur,
Mario
took
us
to
a
hiking
tour
combined
with
UTV,
where
we
saw
monkeys,
sloths,
birds,
butterflies,
iguanas,
spiders,
and
learned
more
about
the
local
flora
&
fauna.
We
also
did
a
beach
day
in
Playa
Hermosa,
which
was
truly
unforgettable.
Mario
arranged
all
of
our
transportations,
including
the
ones
in
Ometepe
Island.
When
we
encountered
a
problem
on
our
first
night,
where
the
hotel
refused
to
accommodate
us,
despite
our
confirmed
booking,
Mario
helped
us
out
so
we're
not
stranded
on
the
streets.
He
even
offered
to
drive
us
to
our
hotel
the
next
day,
free
of
charge.
He
is
very
flexible
and
we're
able
to
customize
our
trip
and
our
itinerary
based
on
what
we
want
to
do.
Mario
&
Justo,
thank
you
so
much
for
making
our
trip
so
amazing
and
so
unforgettable
in
Nicaragua.
We
miss
you
guys
already.
You
became
like
our
family
in
Nicaragua.
Anyone
who
hires
you
will
not
regret
it.
