In A Nutshell: -The Chocolate Museum in Granada is a cool place to stop by especially if you love all things chocolate. -We stopped here as part of the Natives Way day trip from Costa Rica. -You are very entertained by the host who works here, be prepared to do some dancing :) -You can purchase chocolate teas, lotions, candy, etc... -They accept USD or credit card. -There is a bathroom here just in case you needed to use it. Overall, this is worth a stop to check out!

Free quick tour is useless, guide isn't quite knowledgeable. Seems just memories the script. The chocolate is very poor quality. I could sense sugar pieces under my teeth.

I visited the Chocolate Museum simply for a chocolate fix, although there are multiple activities one may sign up to do if you wish to actively participate in the process of making chocolate yourself. I stopped in on a weekday late morning. There was no waiting to be seated to order drinks or desserts. I ordered a Willy Wonka bowl for $8 that was much larger than I expected.. fruit on bottom; banana, watermelon, and pineapple with chocolate brownie and ice cream on top drizzled with chocolate. Whoa, it was a lot! The chocolate was delicious, which was mostly all I was interested in eating along with some banana for variety. We also sampled the chocolate martini (yum) and a chocolate crepe. The crepe was non-traditional and a bit crunchy. The chocolate itself was very good, but it was not the crepe fix we were looking for. Altogether, I think it's a fun adventure where you will find the chocolate fix you crave and possibly learn a thing or two if you sign up for the full experience.

Loved this experience. We had a free 20 minute tour (tip based). It was quick, informative and interesting, fun, followed by genuinely delicious tastings of chocolate based alcoholic drinks, chocolate tea, brownie, and lotions. We all left with multiple purchases.

We had a wonderful experience recently the tour was great and very informative. Our guide spoke very good English and we had a taste of many chocolate items. We ended up purchasing many items from the store. A very nice way to spend an hour or so. Don't forget to try their brownie. They are delicious.

I have been to many cacao/ chocolate museums around the world. I certainly have to see that although not the best one I have been it was still a fun experience. We took what the called the “express tour” which was 45 min were we ended up making our own bars of chocolate 🍫. The staff were nice, even tough some seemed a bit tired and ready to go home. I would still recommend it to anyone visiting Granada specially with younger familiy members. 👍🏼

DO NOT MISS IT. This place is so AWESOME. You can have a mini-tour, a choco-making workshop, you can chill here and have some choco-based food. Our mini-tour was amazing, the tour guide speaks English, she's funny, knowledgable, creative, and friendly. It was her first time guiding, and she did a GREAT JOB! The history, the culture, the ways of making a great chocolate, you will experience it here. You should try their CACAO TEA, chocolate rum, and CACAO beans. Price worthy and Amazing staff!!!

The museum tour was cute. Pretty quick and basic, but it was informative and the guide was fun. The guide is also the salesperson for the gift shop. They offer the tour for free, and ask you to buy stuff. Sounds reasonable, right? Except that all the cacao and chocolate we bought was the worst cacao and chocolate I have ever tasted. Literally, the worst. All of it was burnt. It's the first time I've tasted burnt cacao and chocolate like this. It's not a good taste, there is no desire to eat any of it. And it wasn't isolated to one item - we bought 4 different items, all of it the same. You can definitely get better cacao/chocolate elsewhere, don't buy it from this gimmicky shop.

I’ve been on a couple of chocolate tours in and out of Nicaragua. I wouldn’t say this was the best, or most interesting one, but it was still enjoyable. The best part was obviously sampling some of the things they had in the grift shop. We absolutely loved their chocolate tea, and their brownies were so good! We also visit them to go swimming in their pool on hot days. The pool was absolutely filthy, so as a guest I’m not sure how the hotel is. But the chocolate tour was okay. I don’t think I would pay to do it again though.

Wonderful place. Starting from building, that is huge, full of art end emotions. Great and fun chocolate tour, especially for learning chocolate basics. Tasteful liquors they made.

Let me start with how beautiful and amazing this place was! Antonio, our tour guide and one of the talented chocolate makers, showed us every step of the chocolate making process. From learning when the plants are ready to harvest to getting a feel for the work those before us had to put in to make things out of them, it was an experience I recommend to everyone who visits granada. There is so much to do and see, but this place was an absolute masterpiece. Also, they have samples!!! My family, 2 kids, my spouse and I, and his parents really enjoyed all Antonio and the chocolate museum had to offer. I do believe we will be coming back in the future, if only for the chance to say hello again and enjoy their delightful rum. They also had tea, brownies, and different amounts of chocolate in each of the sweets, so you are sure to find something you like. 10/10!

Really disappointed in this place. Had a free 10 mins tour was which was not that great (ok at best) and certainly not amazing. I had a much better tour in Belize and there I was able to taste the chocolate at each stage (raw purple Coco seed, smell fermentation of bean, roasted bean and then the final product). I guess I didn't do the full tour but even the free short one wasn't amazing. Then I bought a couple of bars which you can't taste before you buy (for some reason I assumed they were good) and they weren't. It feels a bit of a scam for the tourists. The chocolate is quite gritty and I can certainly buy better chocolate in the UK for a fraction of the $5 price. What a disappointment as I was hoping to gift some of these as presents and I spent quite a bit of money here. I feel like I have been ripped off. I would strongly urge people to check out other places in the area. Maybe tour is ok but don't buy the bars of chocolates.

My partner and I had a wonderful time at Choco Museo. The tour is fun, entertaining and interesting. Our class teacher was great, enthusiastic and very friendly. We really enjoyed making our own chocolate bars ! We definitely recommend this place for adults and for kids!

Absolutely amazing! Really loved how they walked us through the whole process. My husband and I got to try a little of each of their products and honestly we walked home with quite a few things. Antonio was our Choco King and it wouldn't have been as amazing without him.

We took the mini tour. It was fun with kids. You get to sample at the end. Nice artwork around the grounds from various Latin nations (walk around as they have 3 courtyards!). Chocolate is great. Took some tea home with us and some treats to go. Tea was quite nice. Good place to spend an hour.

The Chocolate museum is a must see if you find yourself in Grenada. The story they tell, from Cacao plant to our plate is incredible, delving into the history and modern day production of Chocolate. There is a guided tour in English or Spanish, and the staff there are cooking chocolate delicacies to be tried by customers. Amazing presentation and great sampling options as well.

Our family did the "Beans to Bar" tour yesterday. The ChocoMuseo team was amazing. Antonio walked us through the chocolate making process, and was absolutely phenomenal. We made our own chocolate bars and hot chocolate 🤤. He was informative, engaged and very funny. I highly recommend the ChocoMuseo to everyone. Young and old alike.

Lots of Nicaraguan products related to chocolate. The cacao is actually grown in the north of the country, so this is more of a touristy shop. You can try a lot of different things during the free tour. It's a bit cheesy but there are a few facts sprinkled in with the jokes and free tastings. A fun way to spend 30 minutes while exploring Granada.

The experience at the chocolate museum was lovely. Antonio was our guide and he was very engaging and enthusiastic throughout the tour which lasted about 2 hours. We were able to make our own hot chocolate, as well as chocolate bars, all while learning about the history of chocolate and learning techniques on how to make it. Overall, it was a really fun experience and glad to say I checked it off my Nicaragua bucket list. 10/10 recommend to visit if you’re a chocolate lover or want to learn about the history. P.S. milk chocolate is not actually chocolate😭

Nice experience, they offer you a free guide which explains the whole story about chocolate. You do have to sign and mimic a couple of things which make you feel a little bit awkward. Prices are pretty high for all the chocolate related products but the taste is fabulous though.

We were limited for time so could only do the short 'free (tip-based) tour' and it was EXCELLENT. So informative, interesting and fun. We have a fair level of Spanish so opted to have the tour in Spanish. Our guide, Yesareli, spoke so clearly for us which meant we were able to understand everything. She made it great fun with lots of hands on interaction. We tasted/tried a whole range of stuff at the end; chocolate drinks, nibs, body creams etc. We really enjoyed this 20 minute experience and would highly recommend.

This was our second visit and it was great again. We chose the one hour tour with chocolate bar making. The staff is super friendly and the kids love all the hands on experiences. Both times they have "recommended" we pay for an adult when the kids make a chocolate bar, but the adult doesn't really participate or get a chocolate bar. Expect to wait 45 after for your chocolate bar to set/freeze.

The workshop itself was great but unfortunately they mistakenly gave away the bars we made to the wrong people so when we tried to pick up our bars the next day, there was nothing left for us. I am very disappointed because we paid $25 EACH for this workshop with the intention to take home the chocolate we customized for ourselves. They did not even offer to compensate us with any bars from the gift shop! Accidents happen but at least compensate your customers! This turned a great experience into a sour one :(

Our chocolate was truly non eatable (on top of being expensive), it had melted in the shop we assume and then re-solidified, the taste and texture were completely gone. We had amazing chocolate in Central America but this place did not have it.

We went to the museum enthousistic about the 1-2h workshop and eager to make our own chocolate, but the experience ended in disappointment. Once we started, we were first given a guided tour about the chocolate making process and a tasting of the products they had on sale, continuously and slightly obnoxiously reminded that all the testers were purchasable. After 1,5h we actually started the workshop. Despite the website mentioning we would be able to choose between dark, milk, and white chocolate, they only had 70% and 100% dark. This wouldn’t have been a problem if they’d mentioned it prior, but it was a bummer to hear it at such a late stage. Besides, the flavour options were basic (5 or so total) and the peanut jar was full of ants so unuseable and not hygenic AT ALL. The resulting bars were also disappointing. The chocolate is grainy and nothing special - also too dark for our taste. One redeeming factor was our guide Sylvia who was very friendly and enthousiastic during the whole tour. However, given the entire experience (mainly the key factor of chocolate making that severely disappointed) we don’t think it’s worth the $25 price point.

It was worth every penny. Nicaragua has its own vibe, more natural feel to a new culture, its people and the chocolate tour was wonderful there. The tour guide was very energetic and fun. Love him or not but he won't be forgotten, I can guarantee this. Loved Granada city too. Very colorful and authentic. Recommend it to anyone!

The pool is as nasty as it gets with bugs and a green film and when we payed for a swim but would never even think of swimming in the pool after we saw it they charged me one hundred cordes for the wristband. I would never recommend any one go there ever and Mitch the owner who passed away a few years ago would be ashamed!!!

I went here a few years ago, and my experience was absolutely amazing. The guy that was teaching my family and I to make chocolate was so upbeat, energetic, and kinda sexy lol. Here, in the store, was the first time I got “borracho” as they say.

I highly recommend the chocolate workshop. Being able to work with the cocoa beans and learn about all the work that goes into making chocolate really helps give a new appreciation for it. Their store also has a lot of cool products ranging from ceramics to other edible treats and even health products made with cacao.

This place is a joke!!!!We took a free tour and signed up for a chocolate making workshop for the next day which by the way is $25 per person and that is a lot of money for an average Nicaraguan. The website described that the workshop would last 2 hours and we would make our own chocolate bars from scratch. My husband and I were the only people in the workshop and it lasted approximately 45 mins. During that time we roasted and ground cacao beans which took most of the time, the person explained the exactly same things as were explained to us in a free tour, we made ourselves the hot cocoa drinks after which we were asked if we wanted 100% cacao bar or 70% (did not even give an option of a milk chocolate which we should have had according to the description on the website), we chose 70% and they just poored the already made chocolate into a mould for us. There was no tempering of a chocolate or anything in between. They simply skipped that very important step and when I asked why they said that their boss did not want to invest money into that machine even though for chocolate tempering they only need a marble board, a thermometer, 2 spatulas and some skills. So in their museum they describe on posters how important the chocolate tempering is as thats what makes the chocolate nice and smooth and all the right things but they don't do any of that!!!!As a result the chocolate comes out lumpy and crystalic so save yourselves $5 and buy a swiss chocolate bar for the same money from a store. I tried a few different brands and it seems Nicaraguans only know how to grow cocoa but not how to make it into a proper chocolate bar. No wonder most of their cocoa is being exported to other countries that actually know how to use it better and it's not Nicaragua that's famous for their chocolate!Additionally we ordered a hot chocolate drink from their bar and they simply poured some milk with a tiny amount of cocoa that the resulting drink did not resemble anything like what their typical hot cocoa should be and what we make in the workshop (with cinnamon and etc).Shame on you for being a choco museum and not being able to make your national cocoa drink properly!!!

My husband and I did a 20 minute tour of ChocoMuseo. The guide was super friendly and engaging young man who spoke English fluently. He provided and overview of the history of chocolate around the world and in Nicaragua and taught us how they make it at their facility. There is a component of the tour at the end where you get to roll the chocolate and do a chant and dance—I thought it was fun. My husband thought it was silly. At the end, we got to sample their rums made with chocolate, a chocolate brownie, chocolate tea, and coco butter. It’s a fun activity.
