My 15 y.o daughter and I loved our dive with volcano divers. William was a great guide. Professionnal and helpful. The volcano dive is a must do. Water temp is heavenly ( specially compared to our water up north in quebec, canada!!) small fish are abundant and to experience the heated water and rocks was truly special. Above the water, the view is amazing and the rest of the family enjoyed swimming in the laguna. Do not hesitate to go. Francisco y Stella

This was different and unique! The people and their dogs are very friendly. After our dive we enjoyed a cup of coffee and nice conversation. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try a fresh water dive in warm water.

The diving in the Laguna is by no means amazing, but there are a few cool fish species & the thermal vents are a hoot to play with & your diving in a volcano. That's very cool. The crew here are all good. Professional & fun at the same time. Plus they work with the local NGO program so the money you spend diving helps fund local kids education. That's a win, win for everybody

It's not a place to go diving everyday for a week, but it's definitely one not to miss! When will you get the chance to dove in the crater of a sleeping volcano again?? There's 5 endemic species of fish, geothermal activities and an underwater Statue of Jesus 🤌🏼 the people are super nice and friendly, equipment is we'll kept. The whole experience was very well worth the 35 bucks 👌🏼

We had a really fun dive with William at Volcano Divers. It was great to experience the geothermal activity in the lake - warm water (no need for a wetsuit) and very warm sand and rocks and sulphur gas escaping when we disturbed the lake bed. We spotted various fish and some large crabs. Would 100% recommend this as a very unusual dive but also a fun and informative activity for anyone visiting Apoyo Lagoon.

Just realized, I hadn't reviewed my experience with Volcano Divers. I contacted Eddy and William to obtain my advanced Paddy diving certificate back in May. We had 5 dives together in Lake Apoyo. I speak Spanish but was very impressed to discover both Eddy and William are fluent in English. Eddy is a naturalist and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the fish species in the Lake. We spent multiple days together over the course of becoming certified. They are very enjoyable to be around and gave me a compilation video of all our diving experiences. Eddy made sure I was comfortable before each dive and did an excellent job explaining the safety precautions we were taking. I only had about 7 dives under my belt when we started so I made many mistakes. Both Eddy and William were very patient with me. They had no issue repeating instructions in English if I didn't understand. This is an amazing dive shop, most hostels in Granada have shuttles to Lake Apoyo. Volcano Divers is easily within walking distance of the shuttle stops. Go check these guys out and tell them I said hi!

Did a really good and unique lake dive in May 2023. Don’t be expecting Caribbean visibility, but you will see lots of fish (some only found in this lake), possibly crabs and interact with the volcano - feel the warmth under the rocks, liberate the trapped sulphur bubbles. A unique experience diving in lake Apoyo, I did a one on one dive with William who was a great DM and pointed out lots of cool fish. The release of sulphur bubbles from the ground was cool and made the dive worth it. My first fresh water dive and felt safe the whole way through. The equipment I used was the newest I’d had with everything working perfectly. Would highly recommend. Visibility 8m, depth 18m, time 52mins, water temp 26 degrees C.

I couldn't come to Laguna de Apoyo and NOT go dive a volcano crater. Well worth the $35. Well maintained equipment, great guide. More fish than I thought there would be, it was cool feeling the geothermal heat coming from the ground. If you're around and wanna blow some bubbles go check it out!

I stayed with Edgar recently. We went for a dive in the lake. It was dirty so the dive was not the best, but Edgar and his DM were great and very professional. Later that day he took me to see the Masaya Volcano. I spent the night in his hostel and the next morning he dropped me off to continue my travels. Edgar is very knowledgeable about many subjects from diving to ecology to politics. Very friendly too.
