Arrived in Nice late in the evening and went to La Planxa as it was fairly close to our hotel and had really good reviews. Although quite close to closing time Christian the owner greeted us with open arms. A bottle of water and glasses arrived at the table as soon as we sat down. When we had eaten our gorgeous meals rather than asking us to leave he asked if we would like another drink. The food is really good, rustic French cuisine that is so flavoursome and really good value for money. The food and hospitality were so good that we ended up going here for 3 meals over the course of our 4 day stay. The third visit was unplanned as we had actually sat down in another restaurant near the town hall but after they couldn't even get our drinks order correct we decided to return to La Planxa. Where once again Christian welcomed us with open arms. Amazing guy ,amazing food. Stopped in again this year and was given the same great welcome. Our meals were identical to our last visit, always the sign of a good restaurant. Still really great value as well.

The best part about this restaurant is that you really do get the bang for your buck. Their serving sizes are very generous for a great price. Their steak is fresh and very, very well cooked. The fries were also crispy and the sauces were good. The service was fast and the staff was friendly.

We booked a table for last night 15th September we arrived and ordered a double burger with cheese and the large Cote De Boeuf with chips. The burgers were okay but the chips almost cold. The boeuf was tepid at best, un seasoned and the chips also Luke warm. I asked for medium rare. I sent it back to be heated but I got new hot chips but the steak was almost no better. This meat had been precooked and obviously sitting somewhere. I am in catering and know how a steak is cooked. The last time I had such a terrible steak was a kosher steak in Israel in 1982. No masks worn, no QR check done. We read so many reviews before booking. I would never recommend this "Restaurant " to anyone. Spoilt our last night in Nice.

The place was empty when we arrived but thought nothing of it as went there between lunch and dinner times. The owner was very nice. We ordered the steak and house wine. The food came quickly and was hot.On food al alone I would rate 4. The house wine was good. BUT I am rating this place with 1 star BECAUSE we had 1 large cockroach visiting our table towards the end of the meal. Obviously could not finish the meal... The owner noticed I was starring at something and came and killed the cockroach and apologised. He then killed another one. Then I noticed quite a few of them all over the wall near the kitchen and on the ceiling. We left swiftly. The owner did not charge us for wine which I appreciate as an apology. I am only writing because the number of cockroaches I saw indicates an infestation rather than a stray one which came from the neighbours and I believe it's a public health hazard.

Best restaurant in Nice! For Our fourth day in Nice we decided to visit this little hidden piece of heaven. There isn't a restaurant with a better quality per cent spent in the whole of Europe. La Planxa Nice should be visited by every person visiting Nice, France. We're definitely going to visit Nice again because of this restaurant and the friendly owner.
