We can experience Chagall's sensibility and philosophy through his beautiful masterpieces. Although capability for visitors is not so huge, this contributes to keep the best condition to feel the arts with calm. I highly recommend you to visit here during your stay in Côte d'Azur. Practical info - It will take 30 mins-1 hour to see everything. - It is better to come here early if you want to visit in the morning. You need to wait around 30 mins or more to buy a ticket. The museum closes during 12:00-14:00 and Ticket office is temporary closed at 11:30-14:00. - It is better to come here with bus or walking. Car parking is available, but only about 10 cars can be parked. - It sometimes opens free on holidays. - There is a small cafe in the garden.

Great layout, a good number of large paintings by Chagall, and also an impressive set of prints including prints that were made for books. It is definitely worth spending a couple of hours. My only disappointment (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that the paintings are mostly picked from the religious works of Chagall, and some of the masterpieces are missing. Nonetheless, there's a sense of awe from standing in front of these paintings.

The artworks are majestic. Small Museum, not too many pieces, 10 eur ticket, museum not included in the Museum pass like the rest. The audio guides via QR code very practical and good, free WiFi should be provided tho

The Chagall Museum left a profound impression on me. Upon arrival, I noticed there was a queue, but to my pleasant surprise, it progressed quite swiftly. Inside, the artwork was nothing short of spectacular, capturing both my imagination and admiration. Even though the museum was bustling with visitors, each piece was so compelling that the presence of the crowd seemed to fade away. It's an experience I'd recommend to anyone; the masterpieces are an absolute must-see.

Overpriced and totally not worth the money unless you are completely into this kind of stuff. This exhibition is not for everyone. The best part about our visit was the chocolate fondant at the cafe.

This art gallery showcases a fantastic style that is truly captivating for those with a specific taste. If you resonate with that particular artistic sensibility, you'll thoroughly enjoy the experience. However, if the style doesn't align with your preferences, you may feel out of place and uncomfortable. It's a venue that caters to a niche audience, making it either a delightful haven or a slightly unsettling environment depending on personal artistic inclination.

This is one of the highlights of my trip. It is only 8 euros to get in and I spent about an hour looking around. They will search your bag as you enter and when you get to the museum they will stow it away for you. No drinks or food allowed in the museum but you can do this in the garden part of the museum. You can take photos. It is a half hour walk from old town and I would highly recommend

It is nice but not value for money. Rather expensive compared to the size of the museum. There's a nice cafe just outside that serves simple food and drinks which could be convenient.

There is no locker room and it is not possible to leave trolly or backpack anywhere. It smells terribly inside. The collection is small and the museum is in fact “the museum of biblical messages” so all the art works have heavy religious themes. It’s a better use of time to look at the sea rather than coming here.

A must museum for those fans of Modernist Art. In this one, the visitor will find many works religion-inspired of the artist: depictions of illustrations related in the Old Testament, as the artist was Jewish. Also, some works are abstracts, free to interpretation. Chagall was as well remarked for stained glass windows, and some of them can be found in this museum.

Not very big, but a very nice museum. The collection is quite rich, means that there are many paintings of Chagall, and not the worst ones. The exhibition is well arranged, the information on the paintings is useful and well written. Recommend the place to eat at the territory of the museum, good crêpes. Right now the museum is changing the exhibition, so only one room is available, but it is for free up to 9 (I think) October.

The museum is not easily assessable by foot. It’s a small museum and was mainly about his published illustrations and his history of putting them together. They had many paintings but mentioned very little of his stained glass accomplishments which is probably more noticeable. They had two windows in the auditorium of his creations.

Impressive museum with Chagall masterpieces like the song of songs or the biblical works. There are also sketches from the work on churches stained glass. Garden is also beautiful. I did not like that there is no seating to watch and enjoy.

What a truly beautiful wee gallery. They were showing two exhibitions when we visited. One was Chagall's Old Testament and the other was a photographic work by someone whose name escapes me...both were brilliant. Nicely played out with lots to see and plenty of space. Nice wee garden cafe too.

An awesome place to visit when in Nice. It showcases Chagall’s Bible-themed work, which is truly breathtakibg. Visited upon the recommendation of a friend, loved every bit of it. TIP: get there early. With covid regulations in place, the wait time can be pretty long

Wonderful to see the stained glass and paintings. Also the modern collaborative works - the room with perfumes matched to the paintings added another level to the experience. Note - metal detectors and bag search on entry. Liquid is not allowed in the building but there is a water bottle 'park' where you can collect your liquids when you leave.

Wonderful museum. A very good container for the works of great Chagall. Also very comfortable on its own and for visiting with children (we were with 4 kids aged under 10, all were very interested and this is thanks to how the works are arranged and presented).

The museum is rather little, and it doesn't take more than 1,5 hours to see most of it, even if you adore Chagall. It is interesting that it was built like a church, according to Chagall's wishes. The paintings have mostly religious themes, but there are some more abstract and some more "personal". Worth visiting if you have spare time in Nice.

Absolutely amazing. I cried - maybe because I was overwhelmed by Chagall’s goodness and his life. The Song of Songs series is what really did it for me. Yes it’s small but if you spend time looking at the paintings and listening to the audio guides, you’ll get so much out of it. 100% recommend.

I enjoyed my visit to the Marc Chagall National Museum. The artworks are beautiful, and the place is certainly worth a visit. As an added perk, there is a free audio guide available. Please make sure you bring your own earphones and a fully charged phone, as you will have to scan the QR codes and listen to the guide on your own device. Entrance tickets are 10 euros when there is a temporary exhibition going on, and one cannot opt out from it. I am giving it four stars because the museum is already quite small and a third of the collection was not accessible because of renovation works. This was not informed to me when I purchased my ticket at the reception. Also, the screenings were not available in the concert hall that afternoon.

  • 4/5 Fiona F. 2 years ago on Google
Very small collection of his religious works. Take headphones and a smart phone as there is a QR code audio guide which is fantastic. And a little picnic to enjoy in the garden to make the trip out of Central Nice worthwhile.

  • 4/5 Meme M. 4 months ago on Google
Marc Chagall this small gallery opens until around 5pm on the day I visited. The collections are nice and includes a sensory room. The reception from the security though needs to be altered as they were miserable and unkind. And there ushering of people out of the building near to closing time was not acceptable in their behaviour. Part from that this gallery is worth a visit

  • 3/5 Didier A. 2 years ago on Google
This museum is disappointing. There are only 17 large paintings, which are nice. However they all pertain to biblical scenes and are not representative of the various aspects of the artist.

  • 4/5 Nastya D. 3 months ago on Google New
It was really interesting but the stuff started to ask us to leave 40 minutes before closing time. Was a bit confusing and we couldn’t check all beautiful works. And we had to wait around 20 minutes outside due to the tour bus - not the fault of the museum but not a good experience.

  • 5/5 Francesco X. 11 months ago on Google
This Museum gathers some Old Testament themed works of the world famous artist Marc Chagall. In the main room there are 12 large paintings while in the other rooms there are smaller paintings and sketches. There is an audioguide available by reading QR codes with smartphone. I was lucky to go the museum when it was free to visit, but the ticket should cost 8/10€ and they are worth to be spent.

Highly recommended. Make sure you find out a bit about Chagall's life before visiting since his life events are so present in his art. Beautiful and colourful paintings and a gorgeous house. Not too large, so there is time to admire each painting longer.

The beautiful Chagall Museum has the most ridiculous rule that exists for a visit to a museum: large backpacks are forbidden. Yes, you can believe it: if you want to see the great works of art of Chagall go only with a small bag or without any backpack. Enjoy!

It was written in the book that there are over 450 pieces of his work. However, I could only see a few dozen of his. The Marc Chagall Museum presents the works of the renowned painter, Chagall. The museum was created in Chagall's life, which also contributed to the design and planning of the museum. Chagall is the one who chose how each of his works will be displayed in the museum. You can see in the museum one of the world's largest collections of Chagall works, some 400 different types of art. Admission is reasonable. Opening hours: May to October Wednesdays to Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00 and the rest of the year from 10:00 to 17:00. How long should you visit? Between one and two hours.

I had heard of Chagall, but this dedicated museum helped me better understand his style and the intricacies of his works! There are profound biblical themes in these paintings. You can access the audio guide from your smart phone by QR codes by the main paintings. 10€ was expensive for this museum and it’s not part of the Nice Museum group pass, but it was worth coming.
