Mixed
review.
Two
years
ago
this
was
a
great
place
to
rest
for
a
snack
or
lunch
when
exploring
the
centre
of
Nice.
A
lovely
park
with
trees
(shade)
and
interesting
sculptures.
5
stars
for
2020,
though
sadly
that’s
irrelevant
now.
We
visited
again
last
week
and
it
was
the
opposite.
Absolutely
no
grass
(possibly
heatwave,
so
fair
enough),
but
they
have
replaced
the
ground
with
rough
sawdust
clumps
and
debris.
You
wouldn’t
sit
on
the
ground
anymore.
Three
quarters
of
the
park
was
inaccessible,
perhaps
out
of
laziness.
There
were
3
separate
construction
projects
going
on
around
the
park
(not
IN
the
park)
that
for
some
reason
meant
the
park
had
to
be
partially
closed
and
also
meant
there
was
tons
of
noise.
Perhaps
all
the
fences
closing
off
the
park
are
considered
some
hideous
form
of
contemporary
art,
seeing
as
it
is
known
to
be
a
sculpture
park.
At
one
point
there
was
a
no
entry
sign
but
people
walked
past
it
to
sit
next
to
the
fountain
anyway.
After
a
few
minutes,
police
arrived
and
kicked
everyone
out.
There
was
no
apparent
reason
for
the
park
being
closed
-
the
fountain
was
not
being
refurbished,
there
was
no
construction
work
in
this
area....
just
fences
blocking
it
off
so
people
cant
access
the
much
needed
outdoor
space.
It
seemed
very
extreme
to
have
police
patrolling
and
controlling
people
in
a
public
space
that
should
be
accessible
and
inviting
to
everyone.
This
is
a
vital
green
space
in
the
centre
of
Nice,
so
it
is
very
disappointing
to
see
it
like
this
and
the
decision
to
close
it
and
let
it
go
to
ruin
is
not
acceptable.
Still
giving
it
3
stars
as
it
has
the
potential
to
be
a
great
park
again,
as
soon
as
the
council
stop
making
daft
decisions.
