It is a hidden jewel! We loved it! The museum has an impressive collection of baroque instruments and it is beautiful. It costs 5€ for adults and kids can go in for free. We spent a nice time looking at all the impressive details in the walls and the instruments were just amazing!

Walked past this a few times until read a brochure on it then tracked if down. Don’t pass it up. It worth the visit. It’s not overly large but has a some great art work. And many musical instruments.

Musée du Palais Lascaris or Palais Lascaris as it more often referred to in Nice, South France (available to visit free on the Nice Museum card). What a building - quite a little gem, with an amazing temporary exhibition on display when I visited. Also known for it's display of musical instruments and some great paintings, even a tapestry if you are a fan. Well worth finding in the heart of Old Nice, if you are visiting the Square and/or markets and want out of the heat! It closes over lunch though, and many museums are shut Mondays.

The museum is hosted in a villa owned by royal family of Savoy. It is now dedicated to 17-18 century musical instruments. Some of them look amazing, like masterpieces of art. We feel that adding speakers with the original sounds of these Baroque instruments would have improved a lot our interest and attention.

The palace is in the heart of the old town in Nice. It’s elegant but not majestic. Rooms are actually normal, it has the feeling of a private house rather than the typical grandiose palace. Ticket is €10, perhaps too much for what you can see. Not all the floor are accessible, the last one or two are offices. The rest of the house is a music museum, quite interesting but probably for the majority just a curiosity. The ticket gives you access to other museums but not all, so double check with the ticket office. If you’re not the kind of person reading all the descriptions on every single piece displayed, you will be probably out in 30 minutes or so.

It was an interesting place. We got in for free because we were students with ID, so I can't speak to if it's worth the price. There were entertaining things to see related to music.

(Translated by Google) Staff at the HORRIBLE welcome! Real THIEF! THEY ASKED TO PAY A FULL RATE TICKET FOR A DISABLED AND A BABY !!!! We are a family of 5 with a baby and a disabled person. So I asked for a reduction and I showed the disabled card, the person was reluctant because they needed a disability card! She finally agreed and called another person as well. The latter asked if the disabled person was receiving a pension (that does not concern them normally!) And if he had more than 80% of handicap. As it was and wrote on the paper, this last person finally said that the card was not valid because it was not written "invalid" !! She asked for 100 € for the 5 people and therefore asked for the full price for the disabled and even the 15 month old baby! I then ran away seeing such nastiness and being walked around for 15 minutes by these people. So I did not visit any museum in Nice because I wanted to take a 20 € card for the 11 museums but seeing that the disabled person and the baby did not have a reduction, I preferred to keep my money !!!!

This was a true hidden gem. If you have even 30 mins to come by and check this place out it’s worth it. You get to learn the history of this important family in Nice. Also you get to see one of the very few houses kept up so nicely. Also a collection of older musical instruments and temporary art exhibitions as well.

Big mansion hidden in a narrow street. Well preserved. Features loads of 17th century tapestries and a bequest of musical instruments, but you also just enjoy the building and interiors. Good deal: the 10 euro entrance ticket is valid for 24 hours in a handful of other museums in Nice.

(Translated by Google) Everything is so beautiful, interesting, because this is a classic of the genre, the history of France and, in general, the whole of Europe! I advise everyone to go there. But the pool in Massena park, no, it is paid -30 € for the 1st child per week! The water is not sea water, coaches and lifeguards are right in the pool :)!

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful baroque palace located on the right street, the main axis of the period. The place has kept all its charm of yesteryear and is steeped in history. Pleasant to visit because it is well supplied and not very long to visit. The rooms of the portraits of the main characters of the time of Louis XV and Louis XVI are very beautiful. The various period instruments are well preserved. The 3rd floor is impressive to see. A must have to do in Nice. Un must have à faire sur Nice.

If you like old music instruments (1700s string instruments and harpsichords, pianofortes and similar). I highly recommend it, it's free for minors (and students too I think), so why not check it out? It also has a bunch of portraits and some other items

Nice little museum! Lovely portraits. Ask for a guide at the desk and they'll give you a laminated card in English to read. Probably takes about 20 - 45 mins to get around depending on your interest in portraits of 18th century French people

Great museum with cool instruments and beautiful decor! A big plus was that is wasn’t very busy despite being in the center of old Nice. Getting the $15 pass lasts 72 hours and let’s you visit all the museums in Nice, which I would recommend.

  • 5/5 Geraldine V. 1 year ago on Google
Loved this quiet, hidden, small museum in the old part of Nice. Only 5€ pp and you spend 1.5h inside. If you are a fan of the baroque period, it will make you happy... (just a little tip for the museum: play baroque music in the rooms to give it just that extra cachet :)

Nice exhibition about old musics instruments, The palais is authentic in Baroque style. Beautiful

  • 4/5 Christopher J. 1 year ago on Google
Worth a 15-20 minute visit. Honestly, the best view is from just outside the entrance. But, there is an interesting collection of musical instruments, and the building itself has some character.

  • 5/5 Angel K. 1 year ago on Google
On display in this museum was a range of baroque style musical instruments that were so unique I had yet to encounter in other museums in france. The palais wasn’t as well maintained as the bigger museums, but it only added to the charm of the place.

  • 5/5 Francesco X. 11 months ago on Google
The Museum was created in 1963 in the baroque ex residence of Lascaris-Vintimille family: it contains a prestigious collection of antique musical instruments, the second largest in France, and some richly decorated rooms on the piano nobile. The ticket is included in the 15€ Nice Museum Pass.

Beautiful house with a large collection of old musical instruments dating from the 17th century, inc this piano harp (one of only 3 in the world). €4 admission and really worth it. In centre of the old town near the Cathedral.

Located in the Old Town this museum is an absolute delight. It is so breathtaking that I have visited it twice. The Palais has been faithfully preserved and there are lots of interesting artifacts. There are information sheets in English and French. The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in Nice.

Stunning palace with amazing interiors that give you an idea of what it would be like to have lived in Nice if well off. I like old buildings so if that is your thing the palace is well worth visiting. It is also located in the old city so lovely location to explore anyway.

Some fascinating old musical instruments on the top floor. Sadly the level of explanation was not up to the standards of other museums in Nice and the opportunities to add good audio experience not explored. The temporary exhibitions on other floors could also have been better curated.

I went to three museums while visiting Nice and this was the only one I thoroughly enjoyed. Great art as well as beautiful instruments, it does help that I love music I guess.

  • 4/5 Arno C. 5 years ago on Google
The museum is located in a less traveled part of the old city of Nice. Once inside, the stairway sucks up all the attention. The extensive music instrument collection adds a bit extra to the palais but on its own wouldn't be worth the visit except for experts. The downside of the old building is that it has no real facilities for people with limited mobility. But in general it's a nice break from the busy centre and a nice museum.
