The square was renamed after Giuseppe Garibaldi, who tried to get Nice included in the governmental rule of Italy during the so-called Italian Reunification Movement (at one point, Nice was part of Italy). These days it's a major tram intersection and community gathering place surrounded by cafes, bars, restaurants.Nice, an iconic destination in Southern France, has been the lure for the rich and famous for centuries thanks to its temperate Mediterranean climate and picturesque seafront.

Excellent place with fantastic view of historical building.

Badly managed, dirty, noisy. From a resident stand point I saw this place falling appart with time. The local government do not care. Now it is the favourite place for homeless and drug user to hang out.

This is another tourist attraction square. I prefer Place Massena more.

Beautiful place to people watch and enjoy some nibbles/drinks. Panama had a happy hour with €5 aperols. Can't beat it!

Very solemn square dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Garibald, the founder of the modern Italian state during the mid-19th century. This is one of the favorite squares of Niçois. The buildings surrounding the square are painted in bright yellow and beige colors, typical to Nice (Savoy) architecture.

Super touristy area! But I still think it’s cool, we really enjoyed old nice.

Best time to go is apero time (6.30?). Great inexpensive tapas, pizzas 6€ and drinks half price. Winter or summer

Early Morning in winter at place Garibaldi in Nice :)

Amazing architecture and a lovely place to sit in the shade of the trees and feed the pigeons with a baguette. The water fountain / statue provides a cool rest for weary travellers. Highly recommended!

Place Garibaldi is a nice square located by the old town of Nice. There are many restaurants to choose from and it's close to the Museum of Modern Art.

Lots of old photos of visitors to Nice in the past displayed, including Keith Richard wife son and their dog. Merry go round on this visit but still not enough public toilets. Bad sights.
