My daughter loved the fountain and called it the bum statue. It is nice water fountain and surrounding but the quality has nothing on the Italian fountains or statues bit worth stopping by and getting pictures and taking in the area.

Beautiful and nice for a short break before continuing the walk into the city or to the beach and the panoramic views that are just nearby...

Fontaine du Soleil - A water fountain right in Old Town Nice district. You can’t miss it. Lots of tourists and locals alike taking photos there. Instagram photo worthy 😂😂

Beautiful Place very close to the beach in the centre of Nice. Direct access to the park and waterworks nearby. There, look for the fountain to fill your bottles with cool (and free) flat or sparkling water as you prefer.

A great series of statues of Greek gods set in a large fountain. The bronzes are very powerful and one of the must-sees in Nice. Take the time also to wander through the Promenade des Arts as far as the Museum of Modern Art and its garden.

This is the entry to old town of Nice. We ended up coming to this place every day more than one. Good open area, you can spend time around this area. a fountain park also to walk between fountains. Also nice eatery places. Well connected to trams and bus.

It's the main attraction of the old city. Many restaurants and cafeterias around there to sit and relax. Nice city, nice vibe 🤩 you can explore the old city on bycycle. It was a great experience of bicycling in old city and near the French Riviera.

Picture perfect landmark, point of reference and meeting place in the city. Interesting stories behind the statues and all around great spot! One must see it at least once whilst here (but if one is the active type, chances are it will be seen dozens of times during one’s stay)!

The sculpture "La fontaine du Soleil" was created by Alfred Auguste Janniot (1889-1969) and was inaugurated in 1956. The artwork is located in a fountain in Nice, France. The sculpture depicts Greek mythological figures such as Helios, the goddess Athena, and the goddess Aphrodite, designed to honor the sunlight of the city of Nice. It is a famous sculpture in Nice and attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world.

The "Fountain of the Sun" or "fountain du Soleil" is located on the south side of Place Massena. The fountain in its original form was opened in 1956. The fountain is an allegorical (slightly simplified) representation of the solar system: the statues depict the Earth, Mars, Mercury, Venus and Saturn, in the center of the fountain there is a seven-meter statue of Apollo, symbolizing the sun.

We were lucky to wake up every morning looking through the window and seeing this beautiful fountain as our hotel was just on the opposite side. When I think about Nice this tourist landmark comes first to my mind!

Situated in the southern part of Masséna Square, the Sun Fountain (La Fontaine du Soléil) is a captivating baroque monument. During the 1950' it outraged some Nice citizens who persuaded local authorities to mutilate the central statue of Apollo. Thus, the 'mighty' god turned into a 'poor' one. The fountain symbolism is fascinating, with five of the Roman/Greek gods' statues surrounding the Sun God Apollo.

Fun place to walk around. There are a lot of things to see. The farmers' market was great. Security is tight at events. We tried to go to an art exhibit. Security refused entry because my wife had an oil and vinegar cruet in her shopping bag.

Extremely busy part of Nice, quite the tourist area. Expect to wait a while to get a good shot of the fountain and the man who was sculpted on a cold day.

This place is truly beautiful, especially at night when it's all lit up with bright and colorful lights. People here are friendlier and more polite compared to the rest of France. And don't miss the amazing fountain; it's quite something to see!

As you walk toward the waterfront of Nice, you will be greeted by the Fontaine du Soleil. It’s a modest fountain by Italian standards, but I still love the statue, which is of Apollo. I marvel at his perfect physique and often wonder when I will be able to obtain an Apollo’s Belt like that. During the evenings, the fountain also has lights and sometimes street performances (dance etc).

So beautiful... and great to bring kids ...located in the old area of Nice. Around the fountain there are a lot of restaurants, stores etc. Nice to visit and spend time with kids at the public parks around the fountain. Is difficult to park the car in the area, so better to park far and walk to the site.

Epic fountain ⛲️ in the middle of this terrific square Place Massena. Just between the sea and the city center. You can get amazing photos from different angles of this fountain . Apollon is gorgeous from any point of view, if you know what I mean 😜 Enjoy watching and enjoy discovering!

Lovely statue at the heart of Nice. First thing we saw on our visit. Great place for selfies or getting a group photo. The surrounding architecture is lovely too due to its symmetry.

Nice is an awesome city. It's lovely to wander around and absorb the culture and energy of this city. Coming down from the shopping district and train station towards the seaside you will walk pass this fountain. It's near a large square. The fountain itself is clean and well maintained. There are plant of nice restaurents around here as well.

Great place that bridges old Nice to the higher end shopping district. Good people watching, including street performers at night.
