Being in the residential district of Nice, Cimiez, the Roman Arenas are not very visited by tourists who prefer the French Riviera more for the beaches and swimming. However, it is a very important archaeological park and it is worth seeing. Tourists who do not have a car, can visit the Arenas by public transport. The bus station is right next to the entrance. The effort will be rewarded.

Beautiful Place to take a stroll. Kids play area, clean, and a takeaway place with all sorts of foods. There is a toilet here too but be sure to have a 50c on you...

My sister in law invited my son and I for a walk in the park. This is part of the Parc De Villa Arenas De Cimiez. It represents remains of the roman occupation of France.

Interesting, but no English translation on signs. Apparently there was an audio tour you can download, but other English speakers said it did not work very well.

if you are visiting area or musee Matisse, avoid driving in rental car AT ALL COSTS! take a cab, this is a gang , vandals, car robers kingdom... car vandalism , theft robbery, happened to me twice here in a decade, not coming back... appears benign green area but with zero security or police of any kind, so the scum is waiting in the bushes for you to lock it and leave, then they jump on it, regardless if it's empty or not...

These are lovely gardens with views over Nice. They're quite small and it's used as a venue for weddings receptions etc. The gardens were immaculate and on a sunny day is great for photos. Take a look if you're in the area

The museum and the archeological site are interesting. However, all the descriptions are only in French 🤷 would be nice and useful to have additional description of the exhibits in English so the turists could understand

Nice, calm, not crowded 40min-1h walk there from the old town, we visited on sunday 7th of May and there was a local festival, folk music and dancing, food stands, lots of children.

Absolutely stunning public space. Clean bathrooms and rich in history. Came in mid March and everything was already lush and beautiful. Many joggers and family passing through without the feeling of being over crowded. Seems like it would be an excellent venue for a food festival or concert

Often passed quickly on the way to Matisse Museum, the park is worth a visit in its own right with beautiful olive groves and well maintained Roman ruins there is something to be seen as a backdrop for a picnic

The ruins of the Roman amphitheatre are worth visiting, followed by a walk through the gardens.whilst in the area, you can visit the Matisse Museum as well as explore the gardens of the Cimiez Monastery.

A wonderful park to visit for locals and tourists. There are plenty of very old olive trees, they should be 100 to 200 years old. You have a snack with tables outside to eat sandwiches, panini, etc. and attractions for kids. Next to the park you should go toward the old monastery and visit its traditional park. It's now a very beautiful free public garden with many flowers and many kinds of roses at Spring. You can do marvelous photos there. Specially for couples. You still have a marvelous view on Nice, its beach and on the hill of the castle if you go at the south side.

Interesting place to visit. Great for a walk and there are Roman ruins can be visited for free. It's very close to the Matisse Museum and the Cimiez Monastery, with ancient olive trees. Stopped by for a drink at an outdoor small cafeteria in the park. The park is beautiful and a perfect place for family picnic.

Such a peaceful place with lots of people doing Yoga. The garden got an incredible view on the city. Not to mention all the old olive trees that take you on a trip to mediteranian overseas.

Interesting place to see in Nice. It is not very well preserved, but it is good. On walking distance from the central railway station.

Wonderful, vast space to visit centuries-past Roman dominated Nice...(a large branch of the Niçoise tree-of-life). There was literally no one else here, under a very light rain... And just next door to the wonderful Parc de Cimiez & Musée Matisse.

Spectacularly understated. The nearby monastery has a quiet charm, the gardens are peaceful and relaxing, yet bustling with life - even on a weekday. The amphitheatre is really well preserved and the Roman ruins of Cemelenum are brought to life by the information boards. The staff were really lovely and helpful as well. If you visit Nice, absolutely make this a stop. Having the Matisse Museum there is a definite bonus, and the Chagall one is not too far away either! Enough to keep everyone happy and busy for a whole day!

Beautiful garden with a lot of rose varieties. The monastere is really beautiful but the paints inside would need some restauration.
